I am extremely impressed with what these guys have accomplished. My hat's off to AD and Rondo as well, but those guys are veterans now and they are expected to perform. But when you look at what Adebayo (in his 3rd year) and Herro (as a rookie) have done in these playoffs, it's really special. I thought both of these guys could have solid NBA careers when they were at UK, but I wouldn't have predicted what I've seen in these playoffs in my most optimistic prognostications. My 16 year-old son told me when these playoffs began that he thought the Heat could make it out of the East. I told him he was thinking with his heart and not his head. I've rarely been more happy to be wrong.
Now my big dilemma is who to cheer for in these finals. I would love to see AD get a title because I think he deserves it with the dues he paid down in New Orleans on some crappy teams. I would love to see Rondo win another title. But at the same time, it's hard not to root for the underdogs in this one. I guess the good news for UK fans is this: either way, we get to see some former UK players win some hardware. I gotta say, the better story-line would be the Heat in 7. I guess we'll see.
