I watched a few Texas games last year and their style of play is awful. I don't get why Top 10 level of recruits would sign up for that. It'd be like Jeremiah Smith deciding to play in a Brian Ferentz offense.
Because texas is considered "cool" Iowa isnt.

So your the new negative Nellie, is that the deal? And Frankly the portal changed all that. We added 2 really sold players from the portal this season with a years experience already. That last three (counting Lucy) have been great additions. Just roll with it....
Could have added really solid players in ther class to. But they went after studs. They aren't going to beat out the UConn's and what not for studs in the portal. Just to bad really with all Iowa does to support their bball team. Oh well just got to go with what we got

MW says hi
Really dumb take. Once the old man retires at UCONN their dominance ends. Book it .
Iowa will be just fine from here on out

I got cooked on here when I said Lewis, Bjorn and Harpring wouldn’t come to Iowa. We will never get a trifecta like that. We had our chance, twice, to win a natty with arguably the best player in women’s college basketball history and we couldn’t close the deal. That’s note worthy with these recruits. Lisa had a chance that last year with Caitlin to bolster the roster and she couldn’t do it. We are our own worst enemy in this program.

You also probably said we weren’t getting Woliczko either, because all you do is doom and gloom and post negative crap. You can’t even spell the name of the greatest player in program history so not sure why anyone would take you seriously.

A team with two 5-star players (Deal and Woliczko) I think is already a pretty solid legacy for the CC Effect. Saying that the year Iowa landed the best wing/PF in the country, the highest-ranked recruit in program history only behind CC herself, wasn't a good recruiting year, come on please….

Maybe Skim should stfu and let the girls have their moment instead of doing stupid **** like she does.
I remember Skim/Trilly initially saying they would only post transfer portal spoilers and not HS Commits.. somewhere along the line that changed.

She is probably a great get in this recruiting cycle, is her position a position of need? I think a great PG would be more beneficial.

Less than 30 minutes until tip.. look at that crowd!!

Thought the same thing. It was interesting what Emely Rodriguez said about Iowa's crowds. She was nervous at first but now she gets energized. I think Austin is a big draw for Texas.

Edit: Texas averaged 7151 last year. Obviously fan support isn't a big thing for these girls.

That's an interesting take. Finishing second in the nation twice in a row is a bad thing. I'm gonna have to ponder that a minute . . .

OK, pondering over. So here goes: Iowa broke #1 South Carolina's 40-some game winning streak in the national semifinals. If the brackets had been different, that would have been, and should have been, the national title game. At any rate, you don't think that accomplishment matters?

There are hundreds of teams that did NOT finish second in the nation two straight years. The Bulls didn't win the NBA title every year Michael Jordan played. LeBron's team doesn't win the NBA title every year.

No school in the nation, none, supports women's basketball the way they do in Iowa City. No other school in the nation draws 15,000+ for every home game, and has for three straight years.

Any player who chooses to go to another program is doing so for reasons--or no reasons at all--that Iowa cannot control. That's the player's problem. Those who do choose to be Hawkeyes are the ones to focus on. Good riddance to the rest. IMHO, of course.

Seven 5 stars recruit to Texas, but at least three 5 stars recruit on the bench. Let's see what happens….

Iowa did all of that because of one young lady name C. Clark and she isn't coming back to play for Iowa again.....I mean they were not even able to get to the sweet 16 last year without her so.....

The odds of Iowa ever getting another Clark are pretty slim....Love the MW signing for sure...but a 1 recruit class and then everybody just saying hop into the portal is dumb...sure Iowa got a stud in Olsen and 2 good players in Chit Chat and Rodriguez, but you can't live in the portal just isn't what you want to be doing as a coach especially with as many open schollys they have right now because of failing to sign more than 1 in this class.

But what exactly do you suggest Iowa do to convince girls who don’t want to play at Iowa to do something against their will? We saw the excellent recruiting job Jan and her staff did with Woliczko. There’s no way to do better than that. If Jenica wants to play at ND and Bjorn wants to play at Texas, there’s nothing we can do except respect their choices and to move forward thinking about what the best available girls who want to play at Iowa.

Thats a good question, I am sure Jan did everything she could to get the girls to sign...I dunno what the answer is but i just don't like the idea of going to the portal for 70% of your class, it might turn out great and If It does will admit I was wrong, just don't like the idea of having to do that or being over successful having to do it alot?? I dunno like I said Iowa got a stud for the one they got...

Iowa tried to recruit Saniyah Hall, Olivia Vukosa, Kate Harpring, Trinity Jones, Addison Bjorn, McKenna Woliczko, Jenica Lewis, Amari Byles, Gigi Battle, Brihanna Crittendon, Maddyn Greenway, Bella Ragone, Morgan Stewart, Natalie Kussow. And we got Woliczko. Iowa has no control over the top recruits’ choices. Maybe we could get a bigger class if we offered recruits ranked below top-60, but I don’t think chasing quantity instead of quality is a good strategy. Thats great have the Portal to fill the roster spots. In the Portal we can get players at the level of Lucy Olsen, Rodriguez, Chit Chat and even better ones. That’s a much better strategy than stacking a class with multiples recruits under top60.

70% of the class from the portal? How many players do you think Iowa is signing for 2026?

Kylie, McCabe, Hannah, and Jada graduate at the end of the season. McKenna is the only one add at the moment. In theory, we need three more players to keep our roster at 14 like it is now. However, next season we have just Kenise Johnson as the only senior. A smart move would be to use the portal to bring one or two players with only one year of eligibility left, so we could keep two or three open spots to recruit the 2027 class. Whether we're going to use the portal to fill 20%, 50%, or 70% of our recruiting class is completely irrelevant. Our main goal is to have the best possible team. And that’s what really matters.I believe you agree with this.
