Well, that was quite the performance. Raining in threes, taking people off the dribble, handling the ball, playing solid defense . . . It looks like Addie Deal has arrived. It reminded me of when Ava Heiden arrived last season, but that was much later. It should remind us that even highly talented freshmen require patience. It takes most players a while to adjust to the college game, but adjust they will. And watching Deal last night was quite the revelation. Her confidence was almost tangible. You could sense she was playing free, that she knew what she was doing. No more tentative, deferential moves. This bodes well for the Hawkeyes as the challenges continue to grow.
BTW: Callie Levin didn't play last night, which is a shame but understandable. Levin's role increased with Feuerbach out, but now there just aren't enough minutes to go around. But Levin showed she can play, and I imagine she'll be needed again this season and still has two years left.
