Agree. 91 WKU alum. I remember I think it was my JR year we (UK) were playing WKU in Freedom Hall, and I got student tickets and a lot of us in the WKU section were UK fans.

But WKU also has/had a lot of Jefferson County students, so a big U6 fan base. I think at the time U6 would play in Diddle every other year, and there were more U6 fans than WKU fans at those games. My best friend from WKU was one of those students from Louisville, but him & his family were 100% UK fans.
I went to very few WKU games because UK usually played on the same night and I would stay in my dorm and watch UK. I commuted my last 2 years so I was usually home by 1:00 and working and never hung around campus late enough for games.

In the thread about Kyle Tucker, some were criticizing Matt Jones for going to Duke. Others were asking why can't we have UK people on the radio.

That makes me think, how many of you actually went to, or graduated from the University of Kentucky? I have a BBA in Finance, 1992.
Myself and my wife.

Morehead State for a few years after growing up my entire life in Lexington and ultimately graduated from UCF (I am an alum but not a fan and yes, I agree 1000% that the self-awarded National Championship is embarrassing).

I am a UK grad and my children and wife. I met my wife while a UK student.

We talk about Matt Jones going to Duke by remember that was post graduate. Law school. His undergrad choice of college was Transylvania, not UK. For those who do not know Transy is in Lexington and it a school for rich people or people "in the know" with Blue Blood (not UK Blue Blood) old money Blue Blood.

He could have went to college out of high school to the other Lexington school (UK) but chose Transy.
So did MJ have a scholly to Transy? Are you upset he went to Transy over UK? Compare their academic standings. Transy much more respected academically

I went to more Women's games than Men's games. (probably 4-5 women's games a year & 1-2 men's)
1) they were a much better team (National runner-up the year after I grad)
2) you could get slightly closer seats
3) a few weren't so bad to look at
4) I knew one of the starters (my best friend's girlfriend was her roommate),

BBA in Finance from UK

Grew up just a few blocks from Campus. Rode my stingray bicycle up and down the ramps of Commonwealth Stadium when it was under construction. Good times.

I will add that, currently, my daughter is a gifted student at LCA and we will encourage her to attend the best college she can get into.

Cool. What grade? My son is getting ready to graduate next month.

Info for you UK grads living out of state. Your kids can get in-state tuition if they have a parent that is a UK grad and is a member of the UKAA for the 4 years prior. I joined the UKAA 3-4 years ago, just in case my oldest goes to UK.

Not even close. College of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida. I didn't take high school seriously and couldn't afford a real college. Had dreams of being a UK student. Got denied when I applied and it crushed me, even though it was my fault for sleeping through all my classes.

Why would I be upset if he went to Transy? Why would I be upset if he went to Pikeville College? Why would I be upset if he went to Centre? Why would I be upset no matter where he went ? Why is that an issue?

The bottom line Matt Jones is running for political office and bringing in as many UK fans to vote for him can't do anything but help. You and I both know that.

What too dumb to cut it at ole vandy? Lol I kid.
In hindsight; yes; pretty dumb. The hardest part behind me; two years of Engineering and Geology at Vandy; then back to KY to take over the family farm; degree in Agriculture. WTH was I thinking? Worked out OK, however. I'm now retired in FL, coming back to KY to visit during the "good weather months".

I was living on campus in 96-97-98. That was absolutely crazy. Euclid and Woodland turned into a Mardi-Gras situation.
I was right there. We poured out the doors of CSF at the buzzer and found the whole rest of the world standing there. Lost most of the skin off my hands giving high-fives. In '96 I mean. Then rinse and repeat.

Started 1990–91. BA English 2003 long story.
Started grad school 2011. If I could read Attic Greek real fast I'd have an MA in Classics already. But I read Attic Greek real slow.

If Duke had offered me a full ride I'd have said Seriously? **** Duke.

Can I say that here? Just the **** Duke part I mean. Can I say **** Duke here? Coz I'm pretty sure I can say the Seriously part. Seriously though. **** Duke.

In under the old degree program....Certified K-12 LBD/1-8 Reg Ed.
I’m a MSD which most school systems call FMD. Not a very common certificate so hopefully I won’t be unemployed anytime soon. Plan on furthering and getting my Lbd cert too

My UK experience was much different than my children. I was a freshman during Sutton's last year. Our football team has been pretty irrelevant except for the periods when we were cheating, so I didn't sweat our football team sucking. But as a huge UK fan, I was really disappointed that our basketball team was not good for the majority of my 4 years there. Unfortunately, I was a senior when Christian Laettner made "the shot." The good thing is that while I was there, students got lower level mid court seats. Sections 31 and 32 if I remember correctly. I do think actually being on campus makes your fandom greater, at least during the period that you are there.

My two cents.....for what it is worth. MSD is the most Christ-like calling/profession of any I know. I think it is even more so than even a priest or nun. You will be dealing with many children that are non verbal, verbal only while screaming/crying, wear diapers, are incapable of movement, only able to move via wheelchair, only able to move with walkers, have major aggressive/violent behaviors due to their low IQ (So it is not like a smart BD kid that knows what they are doing completely), will not progress academically no matter how hard you work with them (Not saying they will not make any progress in any areas but the trajectory will often be very low) and sometimes die due to medical issues like grand mal seizures under your care. The reward is seeing the little glimpses of progress they make and feeling the reward from every bit of kindness/patience you bestow on them every day. It can be a thankless.frustrating job sometimes even if it is a calling from a higher power. The burnout rate is very high so prepare yourself with another degree in case you want to make a change down the road.
On the other hand, our wonderful Governor Bevin would say you are ignorant, ill-informed, selfish, a hoarder of sick days, and a thug. But what do I know after teaching special ed for 28 years?? Politicians that have never spent a day in one of my classrooms always know best.

Wow. Idek how to reply but that’s some good stuff. I love my job more than anything though. And sometimes in my field it is the smallest steps that mean the most to the parents of my students. My dream is to do more collaborative work between fmd and Lbd students.

And I hate Duke more than most on this board.

B.S. Civil Engineering; Class of 1981. Had to study so much that time pretty much flew by and there was little opportunity to party like a lot of students. No regrets as I've been gainfully employed since I graduated.

Mee too. Probably partied next to one another on multiple occasions. Did you live on campus (dorms) at any time?
No dorm "living" but lots of Kirwin nights. Apparently they (towers) are coming down soon too. Way overdue. 6 pack was the only worse accommodations on campus unless you count Two Keys bathroom floor.

You know what's stupid? Thinking Duke gives free rides to people who don't also have free rides from other comparatively esteemed institutions that don't cost them their souls.

There's a word for people who sell their souls to get what they could also get without selling their souls. Can't remember what it is. Adjective or something. Got a feeling it rhymes with Cupid....

Anyone?
