I've seen this as being one of the games of the week, but I'm not so sure how this game plays out. I know ACR is really, really good and Watauga can hold it's own. Anyone have any unbiased insight?

Guy was a baller.
Saw the Rockets in person vs Shelby, and believe me they are the real deal. Good luck trying to contain Rico. Large offensive line, and several others that can more than compliment Rico. Looking at AC's schedule only possible blemish during regular season could be Asheville, but that will be a toss up in my opinion.

Teams have struggled to run on us this year. But the triple is a devil to defend. Add to that the passing ability of Dobbins and we might have ourselves a nice little ball game up in Boone on Friday night fellas.

You bring up an interesting point. Dobbins and Ebaugh had a big game in 2012's jv game against Reynolds. Obviously a lot changes between 3 years worth of growth and development, but this is basically the same teams playing one another for the a varsity game. Our RBs have been fairly productive as well but I don't seem them continuing the 200+ yards, but rushing the ball is a large part of Watauga's offense. Should be interesting.

This should be an interesting game. I think Watauga keeps it close but
not sure if it's enough to pull out the W.

They have a pretty solid defense on the outside, better than it has been in the past few years. Not a great deal of size but they're fast and feisty.
Curious to see what the DC does to try and contain our speed on the edge. If I'm not mistaken that is Dustin Kerley. He was at ACR for a little bit. Great dude, great hire for the Watauga staff.

Never met him personally, but I've heard a lot of great things about how well he works with those kids. Are you trying to make the trip to Boone? I know that's such a long trip on a bus, but it'll be worth it. No App football but perfect football weather.

I am hoping to make it up the mountain for this one. Y'all have a beautiful stadium and always get behind your team. Great place to watch a game.

I have seen ACR play. The QB is a special athlete and recruited by Notre Dame. Logan the RB has great speed. Oline blocks well.

Rico Dowdle the QB cannot be caught. He will run 2 miles all over the backfield before running for a TD. Linebackers will be key. Passing teams have better results. Good luck you will need it.

If you're playing Reynolds, you better have some speed on the edge defensively or you don't have a chance.

Every highlight against Shelby of his looks like a busted play where he runs around in the backfield and then just takes off

The Reynolds defense gives up nearly 35 points a game. Shelby's biggest win was against Reynolds

The secondary has struggled early for sure. And we did not tackle well in space against Shelby. But those guys were freaks at wide receiver. Give them time and they will be okay! To play West Forsyth and Shelby weeks 1&2 really allowed for the defense and offense both to see weak spots and address them. Hopefully we continue to improve. This team has the potential to be great.

I'm afraid for our sake that I agree Reynolds could be great rocket pride.

I feel like we could be great too since we have 2 terrific wide receivers and a good tight end, but so far they haven't been allowed to contribute since we are a run only team. Maybe things will evolve over the course of the year. They better or it will be another highly talented team that underachieves like the last 2.

I'm sure Danny Wilkins has forgotten more football than I know, but with the athletes that have come through the high in the past few years, imagine how great they could have been putting their athletes in space rather than the power-I.... But what do I know. Just hand it off the Battle 80 times for 3 yards a clip.

Crazy stat. Rico has under half the amount of carries (36) as battle who is in the 80's 3 weeks in.

This is the only thing I'll say about it since this is a Reynolds-Watauga thread. I prefer the pro-style offense over the spread. I think it has given us some advantages the last few years against spread teams who aren't used to playing teams who are "smash-mouth". You can still do some different things in a pro-style offense to take advantage of your athletes on the perimeter. We just haven't always done that.

I said after week 1...."Rico and Reggie are going to have a race to see who gets to 300 carries first". Well Reggie is winning that 'battle'. Again, he is a hell of a player but 83 carries in 3 games is just begging for an injury. Sorry to hijack your thread.

ACR should take this game by two scores,IMO. After watching their offense against Shelby there are more weapons than Dowdle to contend with.If #4 and #6 can run the ball it could be a long night for the Pioneers.

Rico is one of the best athletes I've seen in years.. As long as that kid is healthy, they have a chance in every game.... Best of luck to ACR... Classy bunch...great fans, and great program...

I saw Norris Hopper the Saturday after we played ACR, told him I saw his twin the night before.... Rico's runs reminded me so much of how Norris used to run the ball....

You did no such thing my friend nor does any other Asheville poster because they are polite, genuine people unlike fans of some other schools who defend underhanded behavior and think they can drop da' bomb on every opponent. All the best to Asheville.
