That is increased from 55 points last year. I asked if their was a chance of it coming down depending on final numbers, and was told no.
That is all.
That is all.
You might be right. But while I can't speak for other lots, the yellow lot was pretty full, by game time, for a bunch of games last season. I was actually surprised for a couple games.Seems they will only be satisfied when all the lots are devoid of cars and all the seats are empty. Then they can at least play the games with some peace and quiet.

Parking passes for stadium lots are for season ticket holders. If they do sell them for gameday visitors I will never donate another dime.I wonder if the ticket office is now doing 'dynamic pricing' for premium parking spaces for individual games in Scarlet, Green and Yellow. Those parking passes fetch the better prices above Face on stub hub than good seats.
They could hold back, or make a higher cut off, and then sell for a very nice price to visiting fans looking to pay way over premium for a great parking spot.
I am not sure that 62 is the actual final # for Yellow. What it is, is the amount of points needed, plus a certain donation level ($1,000 for 1 pass?) that can guarantee you Yellow now. I was told when I renewed that I was guaranteed Yellow based on the fact that I exceeded 62 points and also had made a certain donation level.
If ticket holders have until April 30th to renew and contribute, I am not sure how they would know the amount of points needed to get in any lot, though they may have a pretty good estimate at this time.
When I had my weird Twilight Zone calls with my "ticket rep" last month he told me 62 was the cutoff for Yellow.

Those scenarios if they happen will not go over well. The ticket office can hold the line on priority point minimums for lots with season ticket suckers if they unload parking tags via some of the ticket monger companies like Stub Hub or whoever, single game-by-single game. Lots of visiting team fans showing up in prime time parking areas ... not the distant lots.
Great for the school too. Pointless to have fans if you can’t monetize it. College sports is a business and not a nonprofit. This way there will be no traffic jams leaving HPSS.
Great for the remaining high Donors left as the only fans.
So you would be happy to have paid donations and parking fees only to park next to Penn State fans who were able to buy a parking pass through the school at a reduced price? You really are an idiot.Great for the school too. Pointless to have fans if you can’t monetize it. College sports is a business and not a nonprofit.
I don't think it is for just one pass if you have enough season tix to qualify for more. 1 pass for each 4 tix you have in your account. So an account holder who has say 12 tix should be able to get 3 passed if they meet the pp number and $1000 donation level. Unless they limit the pre-buy to just one pass per account..which would be foolish and difficult to do if you need several together.I am not sure that 62 is the actual final # for Yellow. Donation levels increase as the number of parking passes increases. The donation level is the same for 1 - 2, but goes up for 3 - 4, then again for 5 - 6.
If that were to happen it would result in the same reaction if Parking Passes are sold individually on the open market to the highest bidder...I'm trying to remember if I heard the ticket rep correctly....think he said if you only put the deposit now but it becomes fully sold out by the time the parking assignments are generated in the summer (apparently the demand for Yellow is that much - the greatest demand of any lot on Busch is what he said), then you could conceivably be bumped even if you meet the PP and donation minimum. Not sure I fully believe that could happen, but I didn't feel like arguing the issue and just went ahead and locked it in.
I was told 62 is the cutoff. When I told him I would not donate the extra money to bring my number up to 62, I asked if I might still qualify based on the final numbers. He said no. 62 was the number, so either give more or no Yellow. The real kick in the *** is that the only reason I missed was because I didnt renew all my seats. So I lost some points. People wanted out, and I am sick of convincing them to stay. I feel like one of these aholes who tries to peddle stock tips at social functions.
They are getting close to completely screwing themselves. The ONLY reason to buy season tickets during the lean years is to maintain points. The tickets themselves are worthless. They can be had in the parking lot for $10 or even free at damn near every game. THe only value is in the parking passes. If they start selling parking in the premium lots, points are worthless, and there is no reason to participate at all. What else are they good for? Bowl game allocations, lol?
I have always been a big homer for RU, and told people they need to support it if they want it to succeed. I am getting worn out. This division they have us in is a double edged sword. The path to being competitive is becoming extremely cloudy. At this point, I honestly doubt if this school, with this donor base, and this State government, can ever be more than a doormat. Its sad.

I'd have no problem with this. I'm out of the country and try to make as many games as possible. The only reason I buy a parking spot is for the resale value. I'm breaking even on yellow for Norfolk state but games like Penn state I make some money. I'd rather rutgers control the market and make money then me and the other guys that do this.I wonder if the ticket office is now doing 'dynamic pricing' for premium parking spaces for individual games in Scarlet, Green and Yellow. If the school holds back parking passes for resale that is big problem!! If this is true why would anyone donate to aquire more points to get a parking pass? Just wait and buy them through the school game by game. If the school is selling parking passes to non season ticket holders than all this crap about points is a bunch of crap. Would be a complete slap in the face to the loyal season ticket holder base.I'd have no problem with this. I'm out of the country and try to make as many games as possible. Mine said new season ticket sales not net season ticket sales. I didn't ask if net sale were up. New season tickets is a good sign but we might be down net? I don't know.I renewed my tickets today and rep said season ticket sales are up vs last year. Not sure if I was just being given the part line.
Agreed to an extent, but maybe make it available for season ticket holders only? Like I sold my Purple season pass a few years back for either $400 or $500. It was an easy $200. Why not give the option to pay a premium and buy in to a lot. If there's a demand, make the money. If the school holds back parking passes for resale that is big problem!! 6,200 for this year, but next year you would have 6.2 pointsI don't know how to compute points. Let me ask you this. If I walked in with my checkbook how much would the check have to be for 62 points?
He would actually have more ( I think).6,200 for this year, but next year you would have 6.2 points

You wouldn't need to buy 62 points because you get points for current tickets and lifetime giving, among other things:6,200 for this year, but next year you would have 6.2 points

Let's not start or perpetuate rumors and get more people angry. Rutgers isn't holding back parking passes to sell on stubhub to make a few grand more a season. SheeshI agree with you here. When you add in the required donation, season ticket holders pay $200 for a yellow pass, $280 for green, and $420 for scarlet, plus they have to have the priority point minimum, which requires purchasing loyalty and a history of donations.
For Rutgers to turn around and sell those passes to visiting fans (or even home fans who haven't shown the loyalty and donations) is a slap in the face to Rutgers' most loyal and generous donors.
I know Rutgers holds back some parking passes for donors who need an extra pass or for VIPs or others the athletic department is courting. I don't have a problem with that.
I also know that some season ticket holders sell passes for games they don't attend, and sometimes those passes end up in the hands of visiting fans. But that is different than Rutgers selling the passes on the open market, without the required donation and loyalty.

I think the problem is that Rutgers, with the addition of this new "Buy Now" parking option, has made parking so complicated that even the mensa society of the Scarlet Nation Message Boards can't figure it out. It has become as clear as mud.
This is an achievement. I never would have thought even Rutgers could have made the existing priority-point based parking system even more complicated.
I still believe that Rutgers sells all spaces to each lot (minus a few holdbacks for VIP's and error corrections, etc.) and the the point cutoff is determined by the last person who gets a pass to each lot. This would make it impossible for anyone to announce what the cut-off is before April 30th (someone with high priority points may have not renewed yet).
I agree that the Buy-Now option, and statements from the ticket office that the cut-off is determined are undermining the faith fans have in the system, and could lead to a collapse of donations in the future. If I don't think I'm getting my fair shake, then why give at all?
