Everyone knows NIL doesn't come from the school. That's not what people are saying. I think the theory is, if we were going to pay $10-12 million for a coach, some of that would have had to come from boosters ponying up a ton of cash. Since they don't have to help pay the coach (which is still too high a salary for this hire, imo), that booster money can now be directed to NIL payments to help the program.

So Mitch saves a lot for the life of this contract.

The question is NIL or not, will top players come to play for Coach Pope.

I like the idea of Blackmon coming here. The questions I have is who will return from last year?

Mitch should have started him at around $4 to $4.5 million.

Use the rest of the money on NIL. It's the only way he's going to get players here. No one even knows who he is.
I’ve read this statement a few times now. Could some one explain how UK can use money normally used to pay a coaches salary in NIL? TIA.

Pope would’ve come her for 500K a year. HUGE overpay……but what else can you expect from MB?

How is Mitch overpaying Mark Pope? He’s accomplished nothing and is paid more than Scott Drew, Dan Hurley, Nate Oates, and Chris Beard.

Does Mitch realize you can negotiate contracts?
Why do you care, it's not your money.
