Christian Laettner says hello...
What? that was, by most pundits, and fans, the Greatest College Basketball game ever played. And you think it was bad? Yea, we did not win, the team that had the ball last won. We did not lose, Duke won it.

Yep, I do not watch the games, and never post on the board during the games. Get on here the next day and read comments.

If you go into the games with an understanding of “Cal is a clown but I still support Kentucky basketball” they’re not so bad to watch.

I definitely do NOT want to see Kentucky lose in general but the bigger this dumpster fire gets and the more Cal pops off at the mouth with ignorant and virtue signaling garbage the better imo because it pushes the fan base back more and more.

Ultimately the frustration and anger is because of results and the current model which needs adaptation that Cal refuses to do....but Cal must have been high on some gooooood **** to think it was a good idea to pop off at the mouth and vilify Kentuckians/ critique and virtue signaling lame and basic wOkE garbage as he has.

This team has higher rated players than most other teams in AMerica, yet they are winning, we are not. And do not come back with the tired "we are young" bull ****. Your coach makes us young every year.

we are young

SOS

Covid

sometimes recruits don’t pan out

it’s a weird year

muH pAndEmiC

other blue bloods are struggling

Cal was coach of the decade

Cal has a title and multiple final fours

next year will be better and Cal will have us “rolling” again soon.

Cal can’t make the players hit shots

We are young

they’re not machines

we are young

go make a play

we are young

The reason i am not watching this year has nothing to do with our record.

I always thought an NIT appearance would be the bottom for a UK basketball season. This season has been a complete failure at all levels. I’m just in a wait and see mode to see what changes, if any, happen this off season.

Yeah it is was a much worse ending than a Tuesday night game in February against Ar-kansas.

Amazing game, horrible ending for UK.

Yeah... he’s...unique.
Idk why he keeps bringing up Roy Williams and Coach K. I know they are having bad seasons but one coach has 3 titles and the other has 5. I don’t hate Cal or anything like that but other then being the best recruiter of all time, he has made some of our fans think that he’s above any criticisms at all. They’ve listened to all of his speeches and believe every word he says even the crazy stuff. They can’t even acknowledge his weaknesses at all. They think that he is the perfect coach, when a perfect coach doesn’t exist. It’s so dang weird.

Agree. There won't be any major changes by Cal, if any changes at all. Not his way or mentality. His title and HOF will not allow him to admit or acknowledge he needs to change and adapt.
He will use covid as the blanket excuse for everything. He might as well, everyone else does.
He blew it this season in so many ways. The wokeness, the video, the kneeling, the losing, the bizarre statements, the Clarke fiasco. He's alienated a part of the fanbase that he ain't getting back. I know he doesn't care, but if and when the full allowance of fans are allowed back and next year is about the same as this one.....Cal ain't seen nothing yet.

Yep- agreed. And that’s the thing. He was only the best recruiter of all time for about 5 years. 2010-2015. He was the first to mass recruit O&D. But guess what? Other schools and coaches adapted. He is no longer the best recruiter necessarily. He hasn’t been getting the elite superstars in over half a decade.

Well stated. Some of the staunch Cal defender brigade on here thinks it’s only the “fringe and unhinged” on here that are frustrated and over Cal and that’s simply not the case. He has lost a plethora of the fan base, especially outside of this forum, and he will never ever get them back. Ever.

The social justice stuff didn’t really do anything for me one way or the other, but I understand the people who were not pleased with it. I think Cal talking down to the fan base and his bizzare pressers this year have done the most harm. I agree part of the fanbase is done with him, and I’m not sure if that relationship will be repaired. It will be interesting to see attendance when fans are allowed at full capacity.

Cal better work his *** of this summer putting the team in the best position to succeed from the start. No more of “it’s a process” or “we’re young.” If UK gets blown out of the champions classic or loses to a mid major to start the year again, it’s going be real ugly. Put your team in a place to succeed from the start and continue to build on it during the season. There’s a bad taste in BBN’s mouth right now, but winning cures mostly everything.

Certainly feels like the worm has turned. The situation with Cal being a catch 22...Seems to be the beginning of a long cold winter for Kentucky basketball.

Of the fans, alumni, and boosters that I know....even if we turn things around and start winning next year....they're gone. They won't root against UK, but they'll be casual fans at the best. The level of anger...not at the W's and L's...is something I thought that I would never see as a UK fan and alum.

Well said.

Personally I don’t see next year being a great year. We will inevitably lost at least 3-7 players this year. We will return a couple- few marginal players at best to go along with a brand new crop of 2nd tier 5 stars and 4 stars. Oscar seems to be legit but who knows? Next year will have many of the same issues including “meh” PG play. Kentucky will lack an elite superstar and will lack solid veteran experience which Cal needs to be successful.

It’s one thing to have John Wall, Cousins, AD , Knight etc coming in to go along with Lamb, Jones, Liggins, Harrelson and Miller. It’s another to have 2nd tier 5 star and 4 star Freshman to go along with toppin, ware and a Mintz.

Just like this year- we have 2nd tier 5 stars and 4 stars to go along with... Kion Brooks Lol?

We may very well be “better” next year but I mean... how much worse can you get? Personally I see a lackluster season of 17-14/ 18-13/ 19-12 type season and maybe not even that good. After that we will lose 3-7 other players and bring in yet another class of 2nd tier 5 stars and 4 stars since Cal is no longer able to reel in the elite superstars.

Couple all of that with Cals inability to coach an actual offense and below average bench coaching and it’s yet another recipe for disaster.

That being said, when we go 19-12, sneak into the Tournament as a 12 seed and get knocked in the round of 32 many of the Cal regime defenders will be all “see! We are making progress!”

Some of you guys are too tough on Cal. This is a well-coached team. Let's see how they play with their back against the wall

What exactly do you see that makes you say they are a well coached team? Hasn’t their back been against the wall since the starting 1-6? How much more can they be up against the wall?

What type of offense is Cal running this season?

You all can believe anything you want but as long as calipari gets three or four guys drafted, he is good.

Exactly- that’s the thing. We will end the season at like 5-19 or 7-17 or whatever. 3-4 players will be drafted or picked up by a team after the draft or head oversees and Cal will legitimately consider it a successful season because he helped guys reach their dreams.

He has verbatim said (many times) that his main #1 priority as coach of Kentucky is to change generational poverty, help guys reach their dreams of being millionaires and get kids to the NBA as quickly as possible.

It’s funny though. What kind of message is being sent to young guys to say the only way to be happy and “end generational poverty” is to become a hopeful multi millionaire. Anything less is a failure! Get a good degree? Make connections in Kentucky and get a job after college making $70k a year? Nah- that’s not helping anyone reach their dreams. They must be multi millionaires! Otherwise it’s a failure.

Okay but what exactly have you seen that shows this is a well coached team? Hasn’t their back been against the wall since starting 1-6? Lastly, what type of offense is Cal running this season?

They are fighting and they could have simply given up. All we have to do is win out and win the tourney. We have the players

You still haven’t explained how they are a well coached team am as you said? Nor have you explained how their back hasn’t be against the wall since starting 1-6

lastly, what type of offense is Cal running this season?

Just because players still try and fight hard doesn’t mean they’re good man.

We average 5 3PM per game and made what 14 last night? That's a good coach finding ways to correct issues

Honestly I’m not even upset at the players. This is ALL on John Calipari.

Yes indeed it is...what SHOULD always be on our coach's desk...
