2027 recruiting

Big weekend for 2027 class. Several top flight OL. Several commits will attend and a legacy recruit. Anxious to read feedback on the visits.
Jake Theis was offer today at the Hawk's junior day. Previously offered by Maryland, Vanderbilt and others.
We just got a crystal ball to land Tommy Riordan. 4 star DL from Hinsdale Illinois.
Not surprised, his brother is a 2026 commit.
What we need is DT's, we don't sit very well with most players offered.
We are in on several solid O-linemen (Halliman, Fifer and Brenneman) but McDermott is a strong Indiana lean and Slagle to PSU unfortunately.
I see we made Kuhn's top 5 along with Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon and Penn State. Some deep pocket NIL competition there. Will be interesting to watch how this turns out.
The Fong just predicted DL Josh Johnson out of Florida to Iowa

Probably 14 - 15 size class, only 13 seniors.
Edit: 2/13 - Blum is now being flagged as a possible Iowa lean. Either TE or WR.

Jaxx DeJean is nowhere near the talent Cooper was coming out of HS.
So he will not be a concensus all American?
Brad banks was no chuck long either, but he was helpful.
Not many players are like Coop.
June 5th weekend looks to be the weekend the Hawks bring in official visitors. Most or all Key targets should be there. I think Kirk and company could have a solid class, high on quality but low on numbers.
This is nowhere near comparable to the comparison I made.

It has been a while, but I seem to remember a humongous debate on this board as to whether Cooper DeJean was really that good due to the small-school level of competition against whom he had competed.
In due time, we all got out answer. He was.
Cooper was legitimately one of the top athletes in the whole country so not many are. Jaxx is about 30 pounds heavier and 3 or 4 inches taller and is a great athlete for his size. He will be a star at TE as will Blum.
Wegher could have been a great back at Iowa if he didn’t have off the field distractions
Brady Scott an athlete out of Mass is offered and coming for an Official the big June Visit Weekend, Lots of Wetjen and DeJean vibes , Slippery, Quick , good hands, good anticipation and striking on defense, Needs lots of work on route running but that Kid has that it that Wetjen and DeJean both have. Must land recruit in this Class
247 shows him leaning Indiana, he’d be buried on the depth chart there, much better opportunity for playing time at Iowa
