Unlike Campbell’s recruiting plan at ISU which resulted in zero championships and the same number of playoff appearances you mean? Look I get the Franklin firing and hope Campbell wins all those championships Kraft promised but claiming Franklin had no recruiting plan is beyond nonsensical.

This is completely false. And would be refuted by multiple sites’s insiders.
PSU thought asking price was too steep and moved on to Wood. Actually, Georgia did too.
Steve Wiltfong even reported that days before his commitment date he reached out to PSU (and reportedly ND) and was wanted to negotiate NIL one last time. PSU passed again.
VT was the only school willing to pay him. Not PSU, not Georgia, not ND, not OSU.
Psu was the only school that was willing to pay Woods price. No offers from osu, ND or georgia.
This is the absolute truth spanning from the insider boards to X. PSU and Georgia spoke with each other to confirm the agent was playing games falsifying the offer from both schools to artificially drive up the bidding war. After that conversation, both PSU and Georgia dropped out and Franklin was left bidding on a player at an artificial amount. It was worth it to Franklin as he could claim he beat out Blue Bloods for a QB.
I’m referring about his lack of planning for the usage of NIL overall, not just recruiting. He spent big on Olesh and ruined his pot of money to land an elite DT and an elite WR in the portal for the 2025 run. He had options, but couldn’t spend the money in that portal season.

It seems like we’re way more intentional with our recruiting than we’ve been in a long time. Campbell is going after his guys.

Sorry for bursting your bubble. There is no such contradiction in what I’m saying. Olesh at 6-5 210 pounds could not play tight end in year one here. Guertin already has the size to play in college. Campbell’s crew spends money when they see value and getting a more immediate return in investment (Gibson is another one we spent elevated dollars on because he can start at rb in year one.)
Yep, we had opportunities for him and others (mutual interest) and Franklin was so extended otherwise (Olesh and some of the retained seniors cost a fortune above market rates)he couldn’t pull the trigger on needed portal help to plug some of the major holes we had in the roster.
I tend to agree with you here. We are likely not getting Sesay, but it almost a given that unless Sesay throws on about 30 pounds of good weight in the next year. PSU will get more out of Guertin year one and two than the team the lands Sesay will get. Sesay has top end potential appear to be unlimited. Think Oweh, who never really gave PSU a lot, but is actually a better pro player.
What people see in Sesay is great explosion on a frame that can be 250 down the road. Guertin is already there, but may not be as athletic. Guertin is a safer choice and at a lesser cost. He is exactly what PSU needs to land, and he may turn into a real high draft pick as well. He's no slouch. I tend to think he's a top 100, even top 50 kid if he plays in Texas or Florida.
Great point, you are figuring it out. College ready player versus non ready as a very high end project. Pay for one not the other.
Olesh was listed at 236 on last year's roster. Sorry to burst your bubble but measurables from 11th grade tend to improve. Guertin will also not hold 255-260 as he is currently listed. That is why the recruiting sites list him as DL. He is most likely going to DT.
You know who is playing this year? What other recruits have the green light? I want to know who are thegood and bad signings using your logic.

Olesh came in at 210. He did not have the size to compete at TE in year one. Sure, after a year of S&C he got to 236. Maybe at that height he can get to 245-2 50 to play TE for Oregon this year. Guertin is de, that is how he was recruited, and Our new dc prefers larger DE’s.
Guertin is way underrated. Will be near the top of this class by the end of the year.
If PSU gets 1 or both of the WRs projected to PSU, plus keeps the WR already committed, PSU is in really good shape. This is the new normal.
Were these the same fake/unknowledgeable insiders who were telling you Wood faced tougher comp against Catholic League and publics than Bourque did against prep school NEPSAC competition?

I already did give you the start of a list. Guertin will get some meaningful reps at PSU as a true freshman, and Sesay likely will not wherever he ends up. Guertin got a college build, even if he ends up at DT. Sesay is 30 pounds of good weight of being a college DE.
Now, see if I'm right in 15 months.
Question. Do you think a HS Tight end (regardless of skill level or HS rating) that comes on campus at around 215 to 220 is ready to contribute at a college level?
For Olesh, maybe he will show at Oregon he was worth the money Franklin thought he was, but last year. Olesh was no more ready to contribute than Matt Henderson was. The both needed 30 pounds or so, and will get it. Have you noticed to two TEs signed this year are both already around 230. They are both more college ready bodies.
