That’s it? I thought 19 was high to start, but I think he’s worth closer to 3 points on the spread. Really important player and not just on the pass protection. On the run defense, I can sadly see some 8-10 yard pick ups going for explosive plays without him. He’s been really good with not missing the last resort tackle.

Not only losing a dynamic player, the team is going to be distracted. Aspiring NFL young people don't do bad things, it's not worth losing potential millions of dollars, not including NIL money.

And beaten the Spread by HUGE margins

Michigan was -16.5 vs WMU and beat them by 33
Michigan was -6.5 vs Washington and beat them by 21
Michigan was -27.5 vs NIU and beat them by 53

Seems both teams have been significantly outperforming preseason prognostications

For this game the Melton issue is not as big of a deal. There will be a drop off but this game will be decided up front. I just don’t think RU will match up well for the entire game. They may slow the Mich ground game for a while and Mich will adjust. I believe the point spread is about right unfortunately. Mich can throw the ball, they have not had to this year. I don’t think RU will be able to sustain many long drives. Don’t believe this game will look like last year’s at all.

I disagree. Melton has been getting a lot of those last resort tackles when the run defense breaks down. Other guys missed them last year resulting in explosive plays. I see this be the area of biggest concern for Michigan game regarding his absence.

I’ll admit it — I simply don’t believe Michigan is a great team. They certainly weren’t last year against B1G competition, and they haven’t played anyone of note this year. (Washington isn’t a good team.) So, yes, they’ll probably win but it’s odd how many fans think this will be an easy win for Michigan. I will be very disappointed if we get smoked in this game.

The way Michigan played, particularly against Western Michigan, they appear to be a great team to me. I guess c-19 impacted them last year. And like Psal_Hoops said, Melton has speed and was making TD saving tackles. QBs have been avoiding his coverage. I think his absence will be missed. Rutgers will be the best team to date that Michigan plays, I still have hope that Rutgers will win but I won't be surprised if we lose by 25 points.

I wouldn't bet this game, but if I was forced to in a sort of save the Earth circumstance, would take Michigan and give the points. Home game, we have lots of momentum, last season still stings, passing game looks to be coming along. I am slightly concerned about our defense, but I just may be making too much of the half dozen or so long drives they have given up this year. I understand that Rutgers is improved from last year, but I think you are going to finish the year 6-6.
RU played a tough game as I expected. The line was too wide as it turns out (easy to say now). Shame RU started slowly. Many of the same players on the lines from last year's OT game. Michigan will not be able to run the ball down the throat of B1G teams. They do have talented receivers that they will need to utilize more going forward.
