I thought that was pretty fair. I didn’t know there was a history of altercation between the woman and his mom.

I’ve never seen them do anything even close to the scale they went to do show this though. Not with Mixon or any other player who’s done anything or worse things before

We got a John Cohen quote, 4.0 GPA, “Can’t judge someone by something they did when they’re 18”

Thats about all you can ask for.

You 17'ers who saying it was fair didn't notice that they were ready for it the MINUTE he got picked? 17 you. It was lined up. That **** was 4 years ago and he's redeemed himself with exemplary behavior. Not fair at all. He's a top 17'ng 5 talent and if he played for Bama or Michigan they'd have been showing his hilites and not that video.

It’s fair to discuss it. They didn’t have to go on for 10 minutes and not show any on field clips and not talk about his on field skill set.

You have to discuss it but I believe playing the video crossed the line. Glad to see ABC was classy enough to not show it.

ESPN doing whatever it takes to make headlines though isn't surprising.

Watch the ABC coverage with the College Game Day crew. It's much better than the ESPN ********

Exactly, they had to talk about it. They did that fair, but three minutes with no video and move on. Show his on the field dominance.

Thought it was fair. He did what he did, and for most people watching tonight's broadcast this was their first time hearing about Jeffrey Simmons.

Now, I'm incredibly proud of him for learning from his mistake and using it as a catalyst in becoming a better person. That's going to take a minute to convince people of, though. Everyone needs to do a better job in allowing people to redeem themselves, and in burying mf's like Tyreek when they don't seize the opportunity.

They had to talk about it? Ok.
Did they have to have it qued up the minute his name was called and
Talk about nothing else?
All you defenders still buy the clarion ledger.

The funny thing is ESPN and the media cared infinitely more about the 2016 incident than the NFL or any teams in the draft. Dude has a freaking torn ACL and still went 19th overall. The altercation was a 100% non-issue for his draft stock.

I'm surprised they didn't say, "well at least he's in Nashville so he can be close to home to still beat her ***!"**
I'm only halfway kidding.

17 the NFL network as well. Just had a UA Manager message me and say what the 17? He met JS during the last few years and said they smeared him.

You're to close to this. ESPN is an entertainment company, Trey Wingo isn't Walter Cronkite and the coverage isn't FOR Simmons or his family, or even Mississippi State fans. The vast majority of NFL fans watching this don't know who the hell Jeffrey Simmons is. I'm sorry, it's relevant.

Saying they didn't have to show the video, also fair. However, his night isn't ruined. He's missing a full year of a 5 year contract because of an ACL tear and still went in the 1st, and his signing bonus just made him an overnight millionaire even if he turns out a bust. Congrats to him. I think he turned it around and probably came out a better person. That makes me proud, because I feel like most men in that situation don't. He's going to have to defend it for a long, long time though, and I think he should have to.

I don't think it's relevant unless you're down with lifetime character assassination over a misdemeanor committed in high school.

That's why I stopped watching them a few years back. I only will watch a live sport event.

So, do you think it would have been equal coverage had this been Ole miss? I think I know your answer.

I think it would have. Why wouldn’t it? You not remember how much play gas-mask gate and the leaked tweets about water bills (which had NOTHING to do with his draft stock) got with Tunsil?

Not one clip of him dominating on the field. Just the video. Hack work like always from the "sports leader". What a joke. I hope for many, many more layoffs.

Never would have been aired if he had signed with Satan

So, he had to suffer the consequences. Doesn't matter now. He's been drafted and the folks at ESPN got to take their last swipe at him. Reading the crap on Ian's tweet just pissed me off. So many know it all idiots that are sure they would not have done the same thing given the situation. What he did was wrong and I am not trying to excuse it but he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Agree with you. I hate ESPN as much as the next guy but ESPN cleared the air lastnight and it shouldn’t have to be brought up anymore. They explained it was not like the Mixon video in that he was trying to protect his family.

People should expect everything to be out in the open this day in age. It absolutely sucks they put the video out but we that’s part of life, deal with it and move on.
