I will never understand why the defense gets penalized and the offense gets a fresh ten seconds by calling a timeout in the backcourt

Heel not heal
Agree & should change the rule so that it requires a player to only call timeout with clear possession of the ball & at least one foot in bounds. No more bailout timeouts when Jumping out of bounds or rolling around on the floor.Same. At minimum it should only reset to 5 if it is below 5 and they have to inbound the full length. If it’s a side out the. It stays at whatever the count was....
it isn’t that hard of a fix

I have said this for many years. It has ruined the purity of the game.Just call walking. There are at least 25 missed walking calls in every college. How is a "jump stop" not just a forward "crow hop". I watched Iowa's Garza moonwalk about 5 feet with no call. Players changing their pivot foot is as common as missed threes. It goes back a long way but when I played high school b'ball in Kentucky walking was called if you changed your pivot foot from heal to toe.
Many of the spectacular plays we see today would be negated if walking and carrying/palming the ball were enforced.
The eurostep has also gotten way out of hand. Fifteen years ago you wouldn't be able to get a layup while picking up your dribble before the free throw line.Just call walking.
