You don't need a friggin group of all stars to put together a winning team. Everyone is clamoring for high level talent.

What did Golden win a title with? He scrapped together 3 unknown big and a transfer out of Iona and coached them up. A lot of this is about coaching. What is your system? Are your kids getting bigger and stronger? Are they in top flight conditioning programs? Are you defining their roles, inspiring them? Wilkins is a really talented kid, but a string bean.

Pope is never going to Cal his way to victories, he has to coach.

Other Bluebloods are playing each other already we are playing the YMCA and struggling to pull it out.Theres not a lot to be excited about at this point but I thought Hawthorne showed promise.Mixing lineups is not an excuse for struggling with the 13th slated team in the big 12.The mindset of some fans reveal lower expectations of ky basketball which is sad because of Mitch,s laziness in pursuing the best available.

Florida lost to Baylor in overtime.
Isn’t Florida supposed to be number one in the nation?
I think it’s a good idea to never get too excited or too disappointed with how exhibition games turn out.
I choose to wait and see how it turns out.
I see a lot of good possibilities with this team, but we just have to see if they come to fruition.

I was unhappy with how sloppy this team was at times, but I also was able to compose myself and realize that it was just a practice game and Pope played a lot of players and a lot of combinations that we won't see in the regular season. They overcame adversity to get to overtime and blew the game open when overtime hit. I don't want to see that in the regular season, but it accomplished what it needed to for an exhibition game! Go Big Blue!

It's the PRE-SEASON ffs. Let's see how they are doing when SEC play rolls around and heading into March tourney time. That's when it matters. These guys are nearly ALL playing together for the first time/season. It's rare that any "new" team gels instantly. Reset your expectations to something from the world of reasonable and then grade them lol. Or just keep spewing blabber, no one cares...

All I know is Noah better be back in time to shut down Stokes when we play Kansas. Nothing else matters this year. That disrespect cant be allowed. You dont mock Kentucky and Rupp Arena shooting half court shots knowing what type of Monster we have tucked away.

Im only halfway joking. Id like to see Noah put that guy on his butt one time. One hard foul is all I want Noah. Heal up man.

They're legit but they took advantage of an opportunity and I can't blame them. Somewhat like South Florida did with the Big East a few years back. They do much better at home (where they have beat most of the Big 12 heavyweights) but struggle on the road. Still, it is a game we should comfortably win in Rupp.

Facebook is the worst. Seriously like 50 Pope is the best posts on anything. That being said though they are definitely not as positive as they were last year (which was nearly unbearable) and more critical posters are starting to show up.

Reddit isn’t much better. Suggesting Pope isn’t the guy on the college basketball subreddit gets you downvotes. Although I have a theory most of the Kentucky fans are on the college football subreddit these days because you can call Pope a** and get upvotes. But there’s a lot of “Kentucky is a has-been and needs to accept that they’re the new Indiana” types on Reddit. It’s really depressing.

Kentucky fans on Twitter are pretty much universally in agreement that Pope ain’t it, though.
Makes sense considering that’s where most the KSR fans probably hang out at.

The bad thing is that we never really were challenged in the exhibition games.
Not from a physical or talent standpoint.
Dior Johnson and Riley Kugel are Last chance U type players, talented but undisciplined.
Again we are looking at another season where roster construction is an issue.
No true PG.
PF's who want to be 2G's
I guess Kam is this years JQ, " Just wait until Kam gets back".
Did we upgrade a single position from last season?

It starts with Diallo being moved to the bench and playing only the amount of minutes he's absolutely needed to play. Milan played 39 and Moreno played 37. If Williams can play 35+, then let him. If you have all three of those guys playing nearly the whole game, the team will be much better off. Pope needs to reel in Ndiaye's 3-point attempts a bit, but he's a decent piece, while Hawthorne and McBride are good role players. I'm not high on this team, but we need to see the "Big Three" - Milan, Malachi, and Mason — on the court as much as possible to reach our full potential.
