They checked that box for a lot longer than I anticipated.
I cannot believe he lasted 8 years there, losing more than twice as many games as he's won. Gotta give Maryland some credit for not pulling the trigger too early like so many schools do nowadays, I guess.

They are a solid coach away from being a real threat in the big10. That area has an insane recruiting footprint. I am assuming donors will be jumping on board if they have a breakout season.
Maryland football has been a colossal disappointment since joining the Big Ten. Maybe being stuck in the B1G East just made it too tough to stay above water. I agree that they are a sleeping giant and could do some great things with the right coach.

I thought it was funny when they fired the DC...what, maybe a week ago and Locksley still was HC. Better late than never I guess.

yeah. It's shocking he lasted so long. Seemingly always went 3-0 or 4-0 vs out of conference cupcakes, and then maybe win 1 or 2 BIG games.

Penn State has had a strong footprint there for years. Locksley was a solid recruiter but coaching always a ?.

Took them long enough. Good luck to him and his future endeavors coaching at the local YMCA.

I think before they are a sleeping giant they should have to be a giant. They've just been sleeping since the 50's.

Some enterprising program really needs to put a staff together that includes Tim Lester, Ron Zook, Mike Locksley, Lovie Smith, and Biff. Oh what a wonderful world that would be!!

Bite your tongue. Fresno State is 4-3 in the mighty Pac-12. You don't achieve those lofty results without an awesome O-line coach.
I wonder if Locksley had hired BF as a favor....🤷‍♂️

Awhile back, some posters (not many) seemed to think a lot of NFL coaches were salivating at the notion of having BF on their staff as TE coach....🤨 Fresno State seems like a good fit, so happy for him.

Going back to Locksley, I guess he only had '8 lives' as HC Maryland. 🤪

I saw a post about him being a sleaze bag. Never heard that before. I was thinking we might see him on the Iowa sideline soon. Especially if he is as good a recruiter as some people here say.

If memory serves he was involved in some illegal and shady recruiting while he was an assistant at Illinois, and some stuff at New Mexico where he was fired after two seasons with a 2-26 record. Reportedly he punched out one of his assistants in 2009, and had a sexual harassment claim filed against him there.

I've heard some rumors that Brian Kelly is going to take over at Maryland
Might be a solid move for Maryland, but we've seen this type of move before with Les Miles types. If they can pull Manny Diaz away from Duke, I'd probably make that move instead.

He's not that good of a recruiter. That DC metro area is absolutely loaded with talent, they would pull in one of the top recruits, but that was it. The rest would head out of the area. Iowa won't have the money, but someone like Zion Elee would be an absolute beast in our defense.
