Thanks man that means a lot to me. Also really gave me a laugh out loud. A good laugh lol. I’m thinking of cooking tide pods I hear they’re better than crab cakesWe may argue and disagree and call each other's opinions Tide pod eating stupid sometimes...but at the end of the day we're Olive Garden. When you're here...you're family.
I promise you I will. I’m a tough cookie I just am overwhelmed by you great guys support. Thanks for the prayers so much!!Praying for you. Hang in there!
Thanks so very much for your kindness and understanding as you summed it up perfectly and your exactly right I don’t know who would ever dare be a part of this I’ll def check about him but it’s going to be Neuro Surgery when it comes down to it. I’m still gonna research it trust me and thanks so much for the info. However Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN are Considered the best in the world. Plus they’re willing to pay the rest of what my insurance doesn’t in case. As they studied my spine for weeks and my case of Ankylosing Spondylitis and Muscular dystrophy. Told me they’d never seen anything quite like mine. Considering I was also diagnosed with Marfans Syndrome. I apparently wasn’t spared much. Thank you again and again. I woke up today bleeding out of many of my veins and coughed a lot of blood up that I had to spit out. Very large amounts. So it’s getting worse fast. Thank you and everyone so very much. I’ve got to get this show on the road if I want to live. I go to see a specialist before Mayo this upcoming week. I’ll keep everyone posted. I’m very worried about my fiance in case something happens to me. My grandmother as well. Sorry to complain. I mean it.So sorry to hear this news. You sound like a warrior fighting a long battle you didn't ask to be a part of. Praying that God continues to give you physical and mental strength to fight this battle and you finally catch some breaks.
I'm sure you already have an amazing spine team but the guy below is pretty much the GOAT. Even a consult over your scans would be worth it if you could arrange it.

Thank you so much for your prayers and for your kind message during this increasingly hard time! Hope you know how grateful I am!Best of luck with scheduling your surgery. Praying for you, family and the doctors.
You aren’t complaining and you don’t owe us any sort of apology. You are part of a small community of people who may not know you, but who care about you. The only way most of us will know what is going on with you is if you tell us, so share as much as you would like as often as you would like. Like so many others in this thread, my prayers are with you, your family, and your medical team.Sorry to complain. I mean it.
Thanks so much. You have no idea how long I went back and forth about whether to even make the post. It’s really not my nature and I usually wouldn’t have if things weren’t so dire. You aren’t complaining and you don’t owe us any sort of apology. Man, sorry to hear all that. I thought I was bad with degenerated discs, and I'm twice your age, but relatively speaking mine is nothing. Hope the next surgery goes well. Your disease must be quite rare?Apparently I’m dying. First let me explain what if you have the patience. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis in the worst way at only age 38, along with Muscular Dystrophy. Point is I have been doing just as AS says in the most aggressive cases like my mine, Vascular Disease would be what brings me down. I’ve literally been leaking blood like an oil change out of my mid to lower leg’s below the knee. I’ve battled the 17 out of this disease and although I’m only 38 going on 39 I’m sick of having the largest spinal surgery ever done at Vandy. Now I’ve had a full breakdown of that surgery nevermind the one before that. Of course I’ll keep pushing forward and try to live through the next surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Another 14-16 hour minimum full 20 plus level annular fusion from complete breakdown of my spine already. I’m sorry to complain I just got some pretty devastating news today. You guys have no idea how hard I’ve debated putting this on here. Sorry if it bothers you guys. I absolutely had to get it out.
Sorry... my surgery is Tuesday. It is only my last two toes, but I'm tired of the knife too.Apparently I’m dying. First let me explain what if you have the patience. That’s still most definitely an aggravating and 17-*** thing to deal with, as that’s what my first spinal surgery way back in 2012 was for—or at least that’s what they thought. My last surgery made any lumbar fusion look like child’s play: 20 levels at once, including going through my throat, which caused me to lose my ability to swallow after I was taken off intubation. They told me at the time that I would never be able to swallow again. Also yes with severe cases it’s pretty dang rare only affecting about 1 in a few thousand roughly. Cases such as mine that are ultra severe reaching end stage by the time my age, 38, are extremely rare. In my case I have Muscular Dystrophy I’m fighting at the same time. Makes things so much harder. Along with other stuff. I don’t know how I won the disease/illness lottery unless it had to do with my mom drinking while I was in the womb.Man, sorry to hear all that. I thought I was bad with degenerated discs, and I'm twice your age, but relatively speaking mine is nothing. Hope the next surgery goes well. Your disease must be quite rare?
I’m sorry as well, after a good many surgeries a man get’s tired of the knife. No matter why or for what. I wish you the absolute best in yours. Praying for you.Sorry... my surgery is Tuesday. It is only my last two toes, but I'm tired of the knife too.
Thank you so much. It means a lot more than you know to me. I’ll be honest, me making it out alive the odds are at this point stacked against me. Yet I’ve been told that before, the difference is I am in the and stage of my disease. One of a few with almost 100 percent mortality rates. Yet still I remain optimistic as I have beat the odds before but never anything like this, and I’ve officially had the gnarliest of surgeries at Vanderbilt. So maybe I do have a little bit of hope! I thank you more than you know for your kind words of hope and prayers that mean so much to me! The main thing is they’ve got to get my vascular bleeding under control if they can at the Mayo Clinic. I tried to change my socks today and they were stuck to my legs so bad when I pulled em off blood just poured from my veins, hell I can’t even think about scratching anywhere. Thanks for your post yet again, I really appreciate and need the prayers right now.Praying for you and good results that result in healing. Bulldogs are with you!
Thank you very much it means an awful lot. I sure can use themPrayers from my family to you and yours.
Thank you as well as I definitely need them. I had fluid leaking from the upper back of my neck earlier. Hope it’s not what I think it is. I seriously appreciate you.Damn. Sending thoughts to you and yours.
I can’t seem to find the thread that Seinfeld posted. My vision is bad and I may have over looked over it. I’m someone knows please leave me a link is all I ask and thanks in advance. The one where we can bet on team’s that he started…
Thanks so much. My vision is garage these days.![]()

Thanks for posting so I can keep you in my prayers. I am so sorry you are suffering with the disease and the surgeries. Man I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I couldn't do it. You're certainly tougher than me.Also thought I’d post an update SPS family:
Everything is getting worse. I’ll have all my 6-8 hours of imagining done first of this week before they’ll operate so I have all my CT’s set with contrast focused on blood clots from the fluid leaking out like crazy and the fluid buildup it’s self. Then many hours of MRI with contrast focused on each and every section of my spine. We already know how bad it was from my last ones but it’s gotten so much worse I need new ones as my Ankylosing Spondylitis is causing my actual spinal cord to be compressed or squeezed on. Not to mention the full and complete breakdown of my last spinal surgery. The squeezing on my cord is causing issues like recently the inability to urinate for hours like 6 hours when i really need to. Like last night it was excruciating, some days I feel I can’t hold up anymore until Surgery but I’m not a quitter. All these bone spurs between my vertebrae are causing full lock up and involuntary yell’s out of me. Brain jarring pain.
Absolutely trying appreciate and thank you so muchHang in there man. Praying for you.![]()

Thank you for your very kind post! That means a lot to me. Sometimes we just don’t know how strong we are until we’re forced to be, so don’t sell yourself short. I’ve had to be this strong since childhood simply to stay alive and keep going. Giving up was never an option. I may not have as much time as I’d like because of my illnesses, but I’m praying that my doctors can fix what’s going on and give me much more time. No matter what happens, though, it will never be because I gave up on life. I’ve certainly had dark thoughts during some of the hardest moments, but ultimately, quitting just isn’t who I am. Thank you again for such a heartfelt post.Man I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I couldn't do it. You're certainly tougher than me.
I meant to reply back to you and say thank you so much for the post and how much I truly appreciate it. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Sorry I’m late getting to it but I’m trying to reply to everyone who left me a heartfelt/kind message. I’m still trying to catch up. Thanks again!!Hey man, so sorry for what you are going through. I hope you have a good social support system that can walk with you through this. My wife deals with chronic health problems, and I know how exhausting and demoralizing it can be. I know the word "privilege" gets thrown around in woke-ish ways that are not helpful. But after experiencing what my wife and some of her family have gone through, I truly believe that health privilege is a thing. When I was a kid, no one in my family was really ever sick. I had no idea what so many have to go through until my wife became ill... and stayed ill - for years.
Thank you so much! I don’t know how I missed such a genuine and thoughtful post with prayers for me, my family, and the team of surgeons and doctors during it. I appreciate your kind post so much!Best of luck with scheduling your surgery. Praying for you, family and the doctors.
keep up the good fight, and absolutely praying over youI do have another update to share, and again, I’m sorry. I went in today for an ultrasound and CT scan. I was able to tolerate that fairly well because I was sitting up. I think the CT hurt my spine even worse than it already was, as they were checking for fluid coming from my gut. Anyways, my spine is in such bad shape that when I worked my way onto the CT table, I had to bend my spine upward while a person who didn’t know me this time was lifting me up. That caused my spine to completely lock up, forcing an absolute scream out of me that I had no control over, and I heard a cracking sound at the same time. I had already warned them ahead of time that they have to be extremely careful with me. Now I can literally barely, barely get around, and I have a minimum of 3.5 hours of MRIs this morning. I honestly don’t know how my spine is going to be able to handle it. I’m sorry for carrying on, but I’ve probably had 100 MRIs before, and things have never been nearly this unbearable pain-wise. This is the first time I truly feel like my spine may not be able to handle it. I’m absolutely worried because they’re doing contrast/dye MRIs of every section of my spine, but today absolutely murdered my spine, and I have an insanely high pain tolerance. Yeah, I honestly don’t know what to do. Maybe they’ll give me a pain shot. I’m filming everything going forward and keeping a pain journal. Please pray for me because I am absolutely at a loss.
I absolutely am going to do my best and lord knows prayers are what I need. I can’t even fathom how I’m going to get through MRIs that I’d normally not even bat an eye lash at. That’s just how much pain I’m in that was absolutely made so much worse by a person id forewarned. Thank you so much for the thoughtful post it means a lot! I just had to cancel an appointment with my cardiologist over my constant afib it’s that bad. Appreciate you again also didn’t take time to proofread this as I’m shaking in pain and never even went to bed last night/this morning. Feels like I might not make to surgery unless I can get more relief. What’s bad is they were looking for the source of the fluid and likely injured me worse.keep up the good fight, and absolutely praying over you
Don't stop fighting the good fight......I absolutely am going to do my best and lord knows prayers are what I need. Thanks so very much for the prayers and also for such a genuine reply. That’s exactly what I need so badly right now: prayers and this amazing family we have on here that has rallied around me during a time when I need it the most. When I’m fighting for my life. Thanks you lots again.God bless you, man.....praying over you for relief and comfort and wisdom for your medical team
Thank you so much for this. Seriously, every single part of what you said means more to me than I can really put into words right now. The pain has been absolutely brutal lately, and knowing that people on here are genuinely praying specifically for me, my heart, my scans, the people taking care of me, and even just for me to have a little peace through all of this really gets to me in the best way. I know it probably does sound crazy to some people that a message board can become this kind of family, but that’s exactly what it feels like to me right now. I’ve shared some extremely personal things on here, and instead of being judged or brushed off, I’ve had people rally around me, pray for me, encourage me, and remind me that I’m not fighting all of this completely alone. I’m going to keep fighting as hard as I can. I’ve been through some terrible things in my life and I’ve never been one to quit, and I don’t plan on starting now. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to pray for me so specifically and for continuing to lift me up. It truly means more than you know.Don't stop fighting the good fight......
praying specifically for you:
-relief from pain, in any measure, to make it through the scans
-comfort and peace
-your caregivers that they move you and position and aid you as you continue this fight
-your afib.....that your heart finds the rhythm it needs and you can not worry over this
-that in all of this, you find reason to be comforted and smile through the pain.
-that in all of this, you feel the good Lord's presence with you
Today, I am grateful that you shared this ongoing fight and the obstacles and "potholes".....so a group of folk on this message board can lift you up and your situation in prayer....... sounds crazy for a message board, but goodness, it's one of the many ways we stay connected and in community these days.....keep us updated
Thank you so much, man. I truly appreciate the prayers and the encouragement more than you know. I’m definitely going to keep fighting and keep the faith. I’ve been through too much in my life to quit now, no matter how hard things get. Knowing people are praying for me and genuinely care means a whole lot right now. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.I'm so sorry you're going through this man. Keep fighting and keep praying. I know I'll be praying for you, and I know God loves you. Keep the Faith and keep fighting.
