Iowa has a pretty big core that stuck with this new staff. This 7-0 butt kicking was awesome to see. Heard plenty that the new staff was not super pleased about the way DiIanni went out. Sounded like he was contacting girls after he got to Michigan when they weren't in the portal. Did he not see Kirk and McNamara?
I’ll add a couple observations:
-Dave had clearly checked out by the NCAA Tournament last year, particularly the second round. It would be like watching Fran calm and sitting quietly all match. Didn’t sit well with me.
-I thank him for putting us on the map, and the recruits that stayed look really good. Huge upgrade at goalkeeper this year with our Scotland U19 keeper (who played HS in Illinois). She commands her area well, is very comfortable with ball at feet. and pulled off her one difficult diving save beautifully.
-We have the NCAA D2 Player of the Year last year, and she looks really good on free kicks with her left foot. Berit Parten takes with her right, and she might well be one of the top scorers by season’s end. Her second goal was top class (btw, basketball related, her hs soccer teammate was Addi Mack of Maryland Terps, who shows her a lot of social media love)
