I don’t see the fit with Mitchell — excellent player but he can’t shoot and he will bog down the offense. I’m worried about next year and hope to be wrong, with or without Mitchell.
He would’ve been starting 2g meaning no Wilkins. I’d rather have Wilkins any day over Chandler. And no he isn’t better than Mason Williams. I’ll stand on that. You also made my point by comparing Chandler to backups for us.
UK has to pull out from being the drive up the price school. Cheapens the image.
Let’s think about what you just said. “He can’t shoot and he will bog down the offense”. Why would Pope even recruit a guy who “can’t shoot” and will “bog down” his offense?
I think Kohler is the better fit for Popes offense as well but he wants to go back home and BYU needs him so bad they would match anything we threw at him. So Mitchell who is more talented is the plan and not a bad one.
Mitchell reminds me of Terrence Jones. All the way down to the demonstrative emotes.
Maybe you don’t know how recruiting works. UK had the #3 portal class and if they get Mitchell it could be #1.

Curious as to what makes you say he bogs down the offense? His usage rating was at essentially 25% (for reference Otega's the last 2 years were 26 and 28% respectively) and he averaged 3.6 assists per game. For comparison, Amari averaged 3.2 assists at 24% usage rating. Mitchell also averaged right at 2 turnovers so close to a 2:1a/to as a power forward and focal point of the defense.
In my mind, Mitchell is a legitimate offensive hub who can also go and get his own without detracting from his teammates.

He cannot shoot. He made 39% but on extremely low volume. Just like Dioubate shot 46% the year before on low volume. Again, I said he’s a really good player, excellent even. But yes I think having a non-shooting PF will bog down the offense.

That’s a simplistic look at Mitchell, in my opinion. What does Kentucky’s roster lack right now? Elite athleticism, a defender capable of guarding either forward position, lateral quickness, someone who can overpower most inside defenders one-on-one, strength under the boards.
Does that sound like anyone? As for offense: Watch some video. Teams that stopped Mitchell did it by playing zones. When anyone tried to stop him man-to-man (Alabama, Arkansas) he overwhelmed them. Teams wouldn’t be able to pack defenses inside on Kentucky with Momcilovic on other Cats on the perimeter. They’d have to play him honest.
I didn’t say anything about the defense and rebounding. I said the “offense will get bogged down” and I stand by it. If we add him and then we get 25% of the way through the year and then all of a sudden everyone starts asking why we are going back to high pick and roll and why our Zoom offense is getting blown up, that’s on y’all. I like Pope, heck I want it to work with him and I am definitely not the type to find something petty to complain about. I think people are seeing what they want to see with Mitchell and not thinking about him next to the current pieces.
