Actual UK fans care. He averaged over 6 rebounds per game and 2 blocked shots in 23 minutes per game. If healthy, he’s a very serviceable backup.
As a little add on. I think we can all agree that Bidunga was a great shot blocker last year. In comparison he averaged 9 more minutes played per game than big Franck and averaged a half a shot blocked more per game. Franck averaged more blocked shots per minute than Bidunga.

Am I saying he’ll be an overall better player than Bidunga? Absolutely not but if healthy, he can be an elite rim protector.

I believe its always been Mitchell or bust. Kohler was a long shot but had the connection with Pope in the past so they had to shoot their shot. Hall was never considered because of his lengthy past of instability going all the way back to high school.

So it will either be Mitchell who ive wanted from the start or Tyson who I find interesting but doesn't move the needle for me in August.
I can't wrap my head around WHY a player who has a past with Pope wouldn't want to come here. He afraid of sharing playing time?

UK ranked 3rd in the transfer portal...BYU 48th. Not going to cry about "losing" a guy that was always going to end up at BYU anyway.

and if Marc Hill and Chandler is "eating our lunch" than it must have been the day mom packed liver loaf and they can have it.
It started with Rob Wright. I mean, compare our classes all you want they're 3/3 going head to head with us.

It’s never good when your head coach in mid August is trying to land Key players. I don’t mind at this point you know adding guys for depth, but this roster is desperately need of a Power player. Someone who can play like Oweh bully ball. Someone that can put up stats and gives you a lockdown defender.. if we already have that on our roster, which is a requirement you know basically to get to a final four then we need to just move on and focus on the team. We have so guys aren’t worried about being recruited over mid August.

No for one I'm not sure it's a done deal you have one person to Tipton Sam BYU is the favorite which many thought in the first place so I haven't seen that anything actually changed. But on the other hand, he is from Utah and he's Mormon. I might simply feel more comfortable there..

I don't think it will help much adding either player to the roster. I still think we will be 6th or 7th team in SEC but I hope I'm wrong!
You are wrong. If you think with the addition of either one of those that we're not at top three SEC team I don't know what to tell you. I think your view is just beyond jaded at this point.

Of all the options thrown out there in this round, Mitchell is by far the best answer for Kentucky as in interior scorer, rebounder and physical presence who adds an entirely different dimension to the team. If he signs with Kentucky that's gigantic. Anyone who doesn't get that either doesn't understand basketball or is so blinded by Pope and, or Kentucky hatred that they are simply HOPING it is the wrong move.

I mean this 5&5 influx of talent has never been a thing before so no way you can compare it to anything else

Zoom is a bully ball guard and Oweh was far from a lockdown defender lol.

I would love to get Mitchell but I’m not sure why wanting Kohler means you don’t understand basketball. Mitchell definitely has strengths Kohler doesn’t, I’m just not sure the ones you listed are facts.

He’s a better overall scorer for sure, interior scoring can be debated. He’s not near the rebounder Kohler is and actually blocked less shots than Kohler and that’s saying something, so not really sure on the “physical presence” part. Also a bigger threat from three than Mitchell.

I’m neither a hater nor blinded by Pope I do know basketball and my first choice would have been Kohler but I will be very happy if we get Mitchell.

Bit of a ridiculous statement. We’re only in this situation because a court granted a bunch of guys eligibility late in the summer. I’d say it was smart for the staff to hang on to that last scholarship just in case this very scenario happened. I’d look at it more as a bonus as opposed to the staff struggling to finalize a roster.

I’m as critical as anyone ever has been of Chandler, but that’s just a tough statement to make someone believe.
So a guy who was a set shooter although good is going to hurt us leaving? When we replaced him with a playmaker who can dribble. Chandler was best off the bench and that role he wasn’t happy with anymore. His handles were suspect and he couldn’t get his own shot most the time. I’d absolutely loved him back as a 6th man and designated scorer/shooter only.

You can't go wrong with Mitchell. If you land Mitchell, you're getting an All-SEC guy who also happens to be a high-level passer from the 4 spot (almost 4 assists per game last year).

39% on 49 three point attempts also isn't bad. He'll take more in Pope's system obviously. He also gives you a legit low post scoring threat.

He'd be the #1 portal recruit if he had been eligible back in April.

I’m as critical as anyone, but Mitchell makes this team preseason top 10 and top 4 SEC. Where they finish is the key, but that’s a roster that could get some things done. As it stands now probably fringe top 25 and middle of pack SEC.

All that is true, but the team would be better with him. Losing him wasn’t an addition. He’s worlds better than Morton and/or Williams. What you said was losing him wasn’t an upgrade. That’s false.

BYU had the inside track, I think we all knew that. As much as I liked Kohler and his fit, Mitchell is as much of a great pickup as Kohler would have been.

Moreno, Momcilovic & Mitchell ( The Three "M" migo's? anyone?) sounds like a very formidable frontcourt. That trio stacks up against anyone. Florida, Texas, Illinois, anyone. Given the extra depth of Williams, McBride, Ousmane and Big Franck, I would feel even more confident heading into the season.

This team ends up pretty loaded in the end. Wrap up Mitchell and let's go !

Go Big Blue !
I like it, both the "M-Migos reference and Mitchell as a pickup if we get him.

You don't have the first clue if he's "worlds better" than Morton or Williams. Just talking out your rump

Rob Wright was playing a game and got sent home just a few hrs into his visit.

Chandler tried to get UK to match BYU offer and we didn’t.

Kholer was headed to BYU from the jump and Pope reached out just to see if there was a chance.

So you’re upset that we lost 3 battles to BYU that never received a NIL offer? Some of you believe that just because UK is mentioned in a recruitment that we are all in.
