I know there are other threads that are related, but I'd like to narrow the focus.
Trump has already primaried a US Senator and a few House members. So how will Trump react when GOP candidates he endorsed lose in general elections, and the Republicans lose both the House and Senate?
Trump will never take responsibility, but how will he shift the blame?
Will lame duck Republicans use their final month in Congress to retaliate against Trump overtly or covertly?
Will Republicans surviving in Congress still fear Trump trying to get them primaried in 2028, or will they stop bowing to every insane thing Trump says or does?
The Republican Party is facing a similar identity crisis the Democrats have faced since 2016. Do they continue to follow and support a clearly flawed (flaws are various) person by putting party first, or do they rethink their platform to focus on solving actual problems?
Trump apparently thinks he got a mandate by winning in 2024. He did not. If he was halfway intelligent he would have realized that Harris got way more votes than she should have based on her performance in the Democrat primary in 2020, and her performance as VP. Presidential elections are now based on 10% of swing voters in swing states. The next 2 1/2 years will be interesting politically. Republican politicians will need to decide whether Trump's endorsement is worth it or not.
