OK, I can see where in, "I didn't say either player was better", the "was" can be confusing.
But if you follow the context, it was in response to Evil having posted, "CC > Paige". So perhaps sloppy wording there. But it's pretty much implied through context, that we were speaking of the comparison between the two players, at present.
Yes, if I had a gun to my head, I would say PB is better. But that's the closest thing I've said to saying PB is currently the better player.

One player to watch is Olivia Miles, for the Lynx.
She looked like easily one of the best players in the league tonight.
The Mercury's defense was awful, as Miles was able to drive and pass through it like a hot knife on butter. But good Lord, she was a surgeon.

To summarize, you have typed both
Was better and is better. Whether it was a response to another poster or not or whether the moons were aligned or dogs and cats were living as one…………… you typed was better and just because the hypothetical gun was to your head, is better.

What he's trying to say is you said "was always" and "is" for the same reference point, and then tried to argue they mean two different things after the fact........when others would argue you could've done a better job of just clarifying that to begin with, but you intentionally chose not to.
"Was always" and "is" basically mean the same thing, and if you truly wanted to differentiate between the two.....for context, which you're on the record as saying you don't ever believe is necessary, and like a moronic troll will again try to reiterate why you don't believe context is necessary...............then again, you should've clarified the difference between saying "was always better" and "is better" in your initial post (which you didn't do), so that other people besides myself
