You could be right. I used to believe that his attitude was the key to his success but after last year's world championships and then yet another match that he wasn't able to fully close out this year, this time against Luke (although that was probably more due to the elbow) I wonder if his success has come in spite of the attitude. I cant think of another high level athlete that was so unforgiving towards himself but I am young and naive
His coaches were the same way, imo.

I'm referring to how he behaved after the match. He is really, really hard on himself after losses or performances he isnt happy with. Do you remember his interview after final X last year? Paraphrasing but he said that he wasn't going to medal if he wrestled at worlds like he did against Luke? You are not going to convince me that is a healthy and productive mindset
That makes sense, not sure I agree but get what you are saying. Thanks for the clarification.

He might be trolling, but he's not wrong. Spencer needs a head doctor if he's going to finish the journey how he wants to finish.

Of course it starts by wrestling a full match, not being content to stand around the entire 2nd per. That match should have been over before the break but he did what he does too often and let a guy get some momentum, then gets mad about it.

Maybe Poeta still has some coloring books Spencer could borrow.

Spencer is a mental midget. He has definitely underperformed thus far per expectations. Dude has no gas tank...won't get better as he balds more.

Says the biggest hypocrite on the board lmfao. You lobbed a softball i hit it
Please elaborate. To do so you may need to look up the definition first. At some level everyone is guilty of it from time to time. I just make a conscious effort not to. I would love to hear specific examples of my being a hypocrite. I will wait with bated breath for your thorough response…

if District 4 thinks 'hypocrite' means 'verbose serial apologist' then he's kinda right
You may need to look up a word yourself. I am pretty sure you don’t understand the word apologist and are giving it a negative connotation that doesn’t belong.

All it actually means is: a person who writes or speaks in defense of a specific belief, cause, institution, or idea. It has NOTHING to do with the word apology, which I am sure you thought was some sort of gotcha…

By definition, considering the topics nearly all your posts on here involve, you are probably the biggest apologist on here…

I would have better luck talking to a wall you cannot comprehend what anyone says you are just waiting to speak you don't listen. Listen to learn and learn to listen

I guess fat-phobic fat-shaming has been added to
Woah woah let's take it easy on the fat shaming. This hits home for me. My doctor recently listed obesity as a health concern after my physical because I'm 226 at 6'2. 🤣

Jk, obviously...Fat jokes are funny and so are short jokes. It's also funny knowing how many short guys on here are absolutely fat as well but love throwing stones because a guy runs a club that isn't having kids come to their favorite college. If Jody Stritmatter was Jody Stritfatter y'all wouldn't **** on him for it.

You may be correct, especially in that everyone is a hypocrite at times. That said, you have this tendency to say " show me specific examples of X...I'll wait" when you damn well know that no one cares enough to dig through hundreds, or thousands, of old posts on a message board. It doesn't automatically make you right just because "proof" isn't readily available. It just makes you come off as a tit bit of an eristic narcissist.

"The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". -someone smarter than me.
Edit: Carl Sagan is that someone.

You're so consumed by being "right' in every damn "conversation " that you're seemingly incapable of actual conversation.

Underperformed?
Spencer was one subjective step-out point (uncalled twice) away from winning Olympic Gold. A 3-2 lead keeps Lee from overextending at the end, which gifted Higuchi a late TD. Virtual anonymity can’t mask the infantile. Maybe stick to boy-crush tickle fighting with Sabs. And here I thought I was the troll.

On this message board ‘proof’ is pretty easily found. If you want to cast the aspersion you should be able to support it.
The ‘because I say so’ doesn’t mean it is so. It’s a pretty simple process.

Good gosh…. It’s a message board.
That it is.
And your posts are horsesh*t, your opinion is uneducated and worthless. If I actually believed that I should have to show some semblance of why I think that.
I think you are a good poster but if people want to cast stones they should have more than ‘because I think so, that’s why’

They should also have more than " Prove me wrong bro".

Your example makes little sense. Your opinion is your opinion, there is zero purpose in proving your opinion because it would rely on everyone reading to have the same opinion as yours to prove it in the first place. That's the whole thing. That's his whole shtick. He knows it. He's admitted he's a troll. He says stuff, he hucks crap at a wall and when he gets a fish on the hook he goes " ya well...prove me wrong, go find specific examples" knowing full well that's unrealistic and not happening. It's a moderately cunning trick slightly intelligent people play on less intelligent people.

If you think someone is a good poster you should have to show proof of why. If you think someone's opinion is correct you best show specific examples of why. See how stupid that is?

They aren’t saying opinions like good poster/bad poster. Hypocrite, apologist are claims that can be proven in a factual way. They can be proven pretty simply. You are looking at opinions. I guess you are falling in the less intelligent category.

I don't think he can compete with the top of the field at 61, and he's nowhere near a 65.

Tough competitor but the window is probably closed for him to make a team.
Making a team is a great goal, but some of these guys just compete because they love it and some do it because they do not know what else to do or are afraid to walk away and start the next chapter in their lives. I am not sure where AD is on that list, but if he wants to keep competing, then more power to him. A lot of guys have made a world team late in their career.

Correct.

Seth Gross had a great post about a year ago, talking about this subject. Just because you "can't" make a team, doesn't mean you should stop competing.

This is america, compete for as long as you can. It's better for the person if that is where they're passion and love is. And it's better for the sport. Personally, I think we need more guys competing.

Hayden Zilmer is another one. He made a team as a heavyweight after training as 96 kilo guy for years. He was from Minnesota, I believe. He is still competing, but will not make a team this year either.

You can’t make anyone jump through the hoops YOU set up. That’s wack and fits right in with his demands. Some times it’s just not worth the effort to deal with mental illness as demanded by the unwell….

I hope ADS is working with young Hawks like Delucca. That has good value to the team and for Desanto if he has inspirations of coaching the sport he loves. When he first started with the Hawks, never would have thought of him as a coach with his behavior but that mellowed and I see him as a really valuable asset in coaching especially in strength and conditioning.
