I remember when they lost a lawsuit with Ted Kennedy over a comical “ad” for a VW Beetle that said if Teddy Kennedy had a VW Bug Chappaquiddick would never had happened. That’s when VW used to advertise that the Beetle was so well built that it was watertight and would float.
I recall that when I was at PSU in the late 1960s we always eagerly waited for each National Lampoon edition. Everyone seemed to love reading it in the 1960s.
Sat with some buddies in the back of our 10th grade biology class, trying not to laugh out loud at an issue that contained the article "How to pick up chicks", circa '71-72.

Half this board couldn't handle the content. Tribute to sports, was a classic.
Did you guys invent a time machine? It started publication in 1970. The first issue was April 1970. I loved it and still have a box full of the early issues.

And they had one where a reporter asked "Sen. Kennedy, what will you do if the convebtion drafts you?" "I'll drive off that bridge when I come to it".
Dave’s not here!late 1960s or early 1970s... either way it was probably a blur.
There was the fraternity story which had characters from Animal House. The guys had to race around drinking and vomiting. The end was classic, with Stu getting the pledge award for vomiting and putting out the bonfire while a frozen hot dog was involved!
And I always remember this, listening to it on Sunday nights. One of their ads clued me into Little Feat when they released Feats Fail Me Now.
How many people are triggered that they are holding a gun to a dogs head? Back then no big deal because its a joke, today I feel that people would be upset because some can't take a joke anymore. 
Boys Real Life, a play on the boy scout mag. was pretty funny. The gang breaks into school, and trashes the biology lab. One of them doodles on the floor and states "where's something I can wipe myself on".
The next morning the teacher holds up a lab report that was wiped on. It was the moopers report.
