I admire your tenacity, but you need to realize, if you haven’t already, the fans you are debating with, are emotionally attached to Pope the former player, and now coach, above and beyond the actual performance and results of the coach.
This is why they don’t care about his resume, or care about his winning percentage, or his tournament record, or his absolutely atrocious recruiting acumen… They feel a sense of devotion to him because,”he’s one of our own”, and it’s clouding their judgment of the totality of the situation.
As stated before… Meanwhile, there’s a former player coaching one of our rivals who’s in a similar situation, except the fans of his Alma Mater he’s coaching, are prioritizing winning and tradition over personal feelings for the coach, and he’s about to be gracefully shown the door, so the program can take the “fast pass” to hiring their next future HOF coach, while UK and their fans go back and forth about a guy, who if his name was Tom Crean, instead of Mark Pope, Capt. of the 1996 NCT, would be singing along with us.
