Who will stay? Who will go? I have a feeling we might get a surprise returnee. Either way, we have no idea what the roster will look like for another month and a half. Let the speculation begin.

In the Bahamas...at this point it no longer matters..."we will be young" and "this is what happens with freshman" is our escape. The speculation starts now? Hell it started in December. Probably even November.

Does anyone here think either Tyler Herro or Keldon Johnson strongly consider leaving college after their freshman year at any other school?
So did Nick and PJ last year...not entirely baseless but...it is NOT a baseless assumption. He's pointed out in several interviews and postgame interviews why he came here and his obvious desire to get to the pros quickly.
I've pondered that with former "one and dones" in the past. If they were at another school I believe they would question themselves a lot more about entering the draft after one year. But at UK they know someone new is coming in to challenge them and possibly steal their thunder. And once again it's rinse and repeat.
What's up with your mind reading of Hagans. Your posts make you out that you want him to leave and you don't like him. Just saying, two posts I have seen from you claim you don't want hagans back because you believe he will mess up chemistry trying to get to nba...newsflash, all these kid's goal is to get to the NBA.If Hagans wants to go (even though he's not ready), then let him. I don't want him here if he is that set on turning pro. He seems to have his mind made up. If he stays, he might be unhappy and what would that attitude do to the team chemistry? He has to WANT to stay and not just be here with one foot out the door.
I sure hope Herro is a returnee.Who will stay? Who will go? I have a feeling we might get a surprise returnee. Either way, we have no idea what the roster will look like for another month and a half. Let the speculation begin.
I understand what you’re saying, but I remember people saying the same thing about PJ, this time last year. I don’t think Hagans performed all that great this season, but I’d gladly welcome a returning pg.If Hagans wants to go (even though he's not ready), then let him. Would you like examples that prove this wrong?
Sure...go ahead. I'm not saying that's the way it is with all of them but i'm sure several have had that thought process. it's only natural.
I appreciate the post. I agree there is a difference. If he understands, then I would love to have him back. The experience would be tremendous! He did very well in the first half of the season. Maybe he just hit the freshman wall. As another poster said it sounds like I don't like him. It's not that. I don't KNOW him and he seems like a good kid. I just want what's best for the team and the school.I don't think that will be an issue.
There's a difference between wanting to leave and whether or not your actually ready to leave. As long as he understands that he's not quite there yet it shouldn't be a problem.
We've had people come back that wanted to be one and dones and they performed well in the 2nd year without any chemistry issues to my knowledge.
I don't think Lamb or Briscoe really wanted to come back.
Except for all the schools where guys like that (or far lower on the draft boards) are going pro?

I'm curious where this perception comes from. I see it frequently. A guy I work with today told me Hagans doesn't want to be here. Is that just an assumption, is it something he's said publicly, it's it just one of those things that become well known in a community?I say Hagans is gone personally. He doesn't wanna be here. his heart and soul is with going pro and I think he will pursue that even if he's a late pick.
I’ll answer for her. Hagans played for himself in the ncaa. He was trying to increase his stock by doing too much and ultimately he screwed us and himself. He wasn’t the go to guy but decided on his own he was. Cal should have benched him imo bc against Houston and auburn no player on our roster was a bigger liability
Hagans is gone, don’t get your hopes up. He has said since last spring that the point of coming here early was to get into the 2019 NBA draft. He gone.

Thank you for saying what I was trying to say. Sometimes I can't find the right words.I’ll answer for her. Hagans played for himself in the ncaa. I guess my question wasn't geared toward "guys like that" and I'm not really sure who that refers to. Plenty of schools have one, maybe two guys on their roster who are underclassmen and make you scratch your head when they decide to declare for the draft. My point is that (and I love Calipari) with the culture that's been created at UK, we have established that we get kids to the NBA faster than any other school. That is ultimately what a 17 year old AAU kid wants. With all of the great momentum built up in the first few years of Cal creating this culture, and now that media members and other fan bases have caught up, some of the kids come in either with an entitled feeling from day 1 that they *only* have to spend one year at UK because that's how we have established our program, or that if have to come back for a second year they will be looked at as failures. No other school has that culture/pressure built up quite as much as we do with the consistent freshmen turnover we see year in and year out.
