Also, I think Cal welcomes the older player who doesn't need his hand held, and can act as an"older brother" to the freshmen. He'll be coachable, and won't need as much attention as the young kids. At this point in his career Cal needs that type of player so he can keep what dark hair he has left!

That's what I'm thinking. Good skills but kind of looks 6'5"ish to me.
Does the dude on the right look 6’5 too? He’s 6’9 and Sestina looks every bit the same size as him.
Nick Ward of MSU is 6'9 245

Remember Reid wanted to be a 3 point threat when he started the season you'd see him shoot it 2-3 times a games. Think he only made 1 all year.

This Sestina guy will actually be able to shoot a decent % while providing defense and rebounding. He will be a nice player for us.

Trust in Cal

He actually made 7. 7 for 26 for the season not great but more than 1 lol. He only shot more than 2 a game twice all season. Shot one in 17 games. Made 50% or better in 6 games. Didn't shoot more than 2 until North Carolina game

I like the idea of a 6'9" 245lb kid who can play the 4/5 and give us some offensive skill at the interior positions.

16/9 at Bucknell probably translates to 9 and 5 at UK, but that's better than Nick offensively and on par with EJ at this point.

The more real interior options we have, the better.

It really depends hard to look at it like that. If we have other options he may get better looks and score close as much. Plus this is a kid ascending .

If Sestina comes, then Cal has replaced everyone that is for sure leaving, IMHO.

Brooks replaces Washington.

Whitney replaces Johnson.

Maxey replaces Herro.

Sestina replaces Travis.

Now as long as no one else decides to leave (draft or transfer), we are good.

Sestina
Richards
Baker
Hagans
Quickley
Montgomery
Maxey
Whitney
Brooks
Allen

10 scholarship players. Don't think he'll sign more than that.

There is no “if Cal wants him”. He does and is working for a commitment.
Sestina a pretty cerebral kid. May visit Florida next if Cal doesn’t close right away. Would be susrpised to see him not end up in Lexington.
Also may look at Juiston.

6’5 , are u serious? They don’t make up numbers on these guys. He is a senior and 6’9 245-250 and can play. Period. He is exactly what we need and with experience.

Dude has a more versatile game than Reid I think you’ll be surprised how much he’ll contribute

Woah..Woah. ..we all know Reid sacrificed stats to be a more complete player, a true teammate...nor saying nate can't do it, just remarking on how lucky we got in having a man like reid play for the BBN...immediately loved forever remembered...
If Nate can match 1 quarter the meaning of RT to thus years team

I loved the strength and maturity that players like Reid brought to this team. But remember, these are 5th year players that are not in the NBA for a reason. Loved Reid, but If he attempted to jump over a Box Turtle(Tortoise), I would be scared for the Turtle. Hopefully this Sestina kid has a little more athleticism, but it can't hurt to have another big mature bully in the paint either.

I think he could be just as good as Travis. I think he can match the stats that Reid put up this year no doubt about it. Plus he will able to shoot a three. His defense is probably not as good as Reid's but his three ball will offset it.
Nate sestina is as close as we're going to get to Reid Travis I promise you that.
