John Calipari made a surprise appearance this afternoon on The Jim Rome Show. Speaking for the first time since P.J. Washington published a video of himself walking without a cast, Calipari said he still does not know Washington’s status this weekend.

“Don’t know. He didn’t practice today, but he’s out of the cast,” Calipari said. “He’s moving around, but will he play? It’s day to day. I’m hoping that he gets some time so we see where he is.”
He's playing . I mean the video and Cal' reaction says enough but I promise you Cal will keep it mysterious up until tip . Me might say something like " we hope he can give it a go" tomorrow but make no mistake he playing.

After posting video, PJ is confident he’s going to play.

If he doesn’t play after posting that, then that would be a dick move and he’ll be rightfully criticized.
I’m a huge Cal fan. But if PJ doesn’t play this weekend, I will be the first in line to roast his ***. But until then, there is absolutely no reason to sweat it after Cal’s and PJ’s tweets.

Pj is playing. I trust mike 100% but he didn’t claim anything.

Cal doesn’t do what he did if he’s not gonna play. It’s that simple. Cal is the most media savvy coach there is and everything he does has a point. Pj will play in the sweet 16. But I bet he only plays 10-20 minutes.

After the tweets today from PJ and Cal, if he doesn’t play, Cal deserves any heat he would take.

No, he doesn’t. People, probably like yourself, have cried and pleaded for more info. You get the best speculation available. If things change at game time, they change. Anyone that doesn’t realize the variable nature of injury is ignorant. Their “heat” will be easily dismissed as the comedy of the weak minded and misinformed. Basically, nobody that cares will feel, any heat due to the ill informed origin.

Look, you’re dead wrong on this one.

If Cal and or PJ weren’t 100% sure he was going to play, they shouldn’t have posted anything. It would be a total dick move to do it unless they were 100% sure.

I disagree totally with you. Cal would not do something like that. And if he did he would deserve heat. Cal knows he’s gonna play. It will be in spurts though

Agreed. No way Cal goes out on that limb if PJ isn’t playing. Now, how much he plays is a different topic.

Actually, I agree with you. I wouldn’t have said a single thing about the injury. Not one word. If I was 110% sure he would play, still not one word.

That said, until game time, anything they say is speculative. Period. I know that. It is the nature of injury. Anyone that takes these sorts of comments as gospel is their own problem. At the very best, it is the information as they knew it when the statement was made. That and 50 cents will buy you a pack of gum.

Lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth for info. Injuries are variable. Facts of life.

For myself, I have no idea if PJ will play any more than I did this time yesterday. The game goes down Friday. We find out at game time.

Look, he said this today. How is he misleading anyone? People are making up their own story and outcome on a hunch. I don’t buy into the idea Cal is looking to trick his opponent or anyone. Stop giving guarantees or act like you know because you do not. Let it play out and see what happens.

There are parts of our fan base that won't let up until everything is perfect. Even then, we dissect the smallest things and look for potential gaps that would exploit any positive occurrence.

Worrying is a main theme in BBN. I remember when members of the Kentucky media said that "worrying" was the main fan outlook in 2015 when UK was still undefeated. Pitino used to mock our fans for over-analyzing everything. Hall's title team never was able to experience any fun due to the mammoth sized fan expectations.

It gets old sometimes.
The 78 team had plenty of fun. Just ask all the Duke TV personalities broadcasting our games on tv now!

Why is it that the vast majority of posters cannot take good news and go with it?

Everything we saw today indicates things are looking better for PJ.

Why are there still theories & questions about Cal/PJ post, will he play/won't he play?

A) The injury was obviously real at this point and him sitting had nothing to do with NBA, otherwise he wouldn't have taken the cast off...if you think otherwise you must love Guiding Light, All My Children and WWE.

B) Nothing is guaranteed. PJ might be doing better now but all we can hope for is the foot to keep getting better and not regress.

Chill people...

If Cal made his post without knowing if Pj would play or not then he’s losing his touch. Cal would have never done that. He knows everyone is watching. He’s not some slouch dumbass who doesn’t understand what’s going on.

His statements to the media are a totally separate issue than his post this morning.

If he didn’t know what the hell is he supposed to say? You people act like this is some big scheme or elaborate scam to fool us. He must be setting around twirling his mustache while using his evil laugh and plotting his matter plan.... or he just isn’t sure. Probably one of those two for sure though.

It's MIKE PRATT!!! That's WHY I posted what he said!! When MIKE PRATT gives his OPINION, I listen!!

He may have been trying to tamp down the expectations that will be placed on PJ, but he said what he did with a DEFINITE intent.

I hope he's just trying to prepare the fans if PJ isn't 100%. I think that's what is going on with him.

With all of the social media pictures and videos that PJ and UK have released today, I am feeling REAL GOOD about him playing against Houston in spite of Pratt's comments.

Again, Cal is the most tech savvy coach in the business. He knows we’re all watching and he knows how big this is. If he’s sitting there retweeting and responding to Pj dancing without a cast and thinks there’s still a chance he never plays, then Cal is losing his touch.

Cal has always been the same. My guess is he’s pretty sure he’s playing or he wouldn’t have done that.

That’s like the 15th different injury we’ve heard it might be. PJ wouldn’t post a video of himself walking if he wasn’t going to play. That would be so dumb and attention seeking.
I'm not a doctor but I think he has whiplash.

PJ filmed running at today’s practice. Doesn’t look like there’s any problems.

Why do you think PJ's dad said 'Just relax' to all the fans yesterday and then today the photo and Cal saying 'He's back'. People relax all that doesn't come out if PJ doesn't think he will play. You could tell last weekend he was wanting in both games bad.

Cane it is far from a certainty. He has had no basketball activity for a week and a half. They took the cast off and put a boot back on. He did not practice today. Add that all up and I would not be shocked at all if he did not play Friday

No basketball activity for a week and a half. Wow. Cal must quit giving these kids a break for one week at Christmas. No wonder we lost to LSU and UT.

Are you talking about when Cal said Uh Oh or did he say “He’s Back”?
