It's not a lateral move but Cal plus Los Angeles would make it a lateral move. Could get interesting

Very disconcerting to see KSR publishing this during the biggest week of the bb season regardless of whether this true or not. What is true is that the UK bb team has a big game tomorrow night and the players need to be getting prepped and ready to play without PJW. This is truth.

If he ever leaves, it obviously won't be for money or prestige. He has as much of that here as anyone could want.

I think honestly the only reason he would go to UCLA or anywhere else would be reducing stress during his later years. Our expectations are sky-high and he mentions that all the time. People in California don't care as much about college basketball. I know UCLA won a bunch of titles on the back of Sam Gilbert way back when, but coaching there is not the same experience that it is here.

Obviously, I hope he retires here but I do recognize how stressful of a job he has and my personal feeling is that is the only reason he would consider leaving.

Matt Jones is such a good UK fan. Even he's not above trolling Cat fans for clicks. Dumb POS. I know @morgousky agrees

It is a story, he runs a website...why wouldn't he post the story? The vitriol that some have for MJ is slightly unhealthy.

Signed,
Matt Jones

Lol, had to add the signed part...but what do you expect him to do? Not report it? Then people would say "why don't you report it"? Damned if you do, dammed it you don't.

For what it's worth, here is his Twitter reaction...

Pick up steam? Stop trolling.

There's 5 post on the first page of this forum about Cal and UCLA.

Members of media starting to report on it...Yes, it's picking up steam.

KSR is doing their job, reporting on Kentucky basketball news. To add, if you've read it, they are making fun of the reports, not stirring the pot like the haters in this thread want to make it seem.

I'm thinking this maybe the one that gets him to leave. He has done all he can here and now seems to be just spinning his wheels. With the new recruiting rules and no more one and dones on the horizon maybe he sees this as an opportunity for UK and himsrlf to start fresh. But lord I hope not. Plus he would pull in all the west coast talent.
If he has done all he can do here he has been a major flop. Tubby one title Cal on title but 30 one and dones. Yea

This is better than Russian collusion.

Promoting "Fake News" (and I hate using that term) isn't doing anyone any favors. Now the talking heads could say "KSR reporting Cal to UCLA is a real possibility" If hes going to report it he should be spearheading the down right denial of this claim, not just copy and pasting 247 report for clicks.

He's got a 30 million buy out. If he takes another job.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...Vaw0_TMPiZPuDO2nOjNusApQP&cshid=1553112561107

According to this article, he doesn't have a buyout. He is also quoted as not wanting to leave while Brad is on the roster. That may only add fire to things now that Brad can play anywhere next year do to the red shirt.
I thought it was odd that KP didn't go after the Louisville job last year. Coach in waiting?

I have gotton used to his success, hope he doesn't leave.

And I agree, sometimes you need a fresh start. He gave it his best now it's time to move on.
Trolls.

All I can say is distraction city. Cats have a good shot and now this is out there to throw us off our game.

And if Cal does leave for a blue blood rival (historically speaking) he does know how we feel about Pitino right?

He’d be crazy to do it. And would be shunned.

This article says he does. I highly doubt he doesn't have one unless Mitch is a complete moron.

I'm certain the extension from 2014 had no buyout...meaning if he was fired or re-signed he got nothing out of his remaining contract with UK. No clue on the newest one.

It says Cal loves LA and yet every year he makes it a point to play a game in New York. Played in LA once in a decade I believe? Come on. His daughter is working at Vandy, his dad lives in North Carolina I believe, he isn't going to frickin UCLA 2,000 miles away to coach in an empty arena, playing 19th fiddle for attention in the town, and spending his life coming east for AAU events and in homes because 95% of the good players every year are east of the Mississippi. This is a joke the same way it is every year.

I usually just ignore the rumours but for some reason it feels like Cal may be ready to try something new. He could fill his roster with 5 star talent and never leave the state. I would love to see him retire here so we will see.

Pitino resurrected a program on 3 year probation and probably saved UK basketball
He was a huge choker, cost UK three titles and was a brainless moron during the last two seconds of the Duke game costing UK a final four. Besides being a cheater and overall terrible human being.

Please tell me know one is dumb enough to believe he is for one second leaving UK for UCLA . Just don't. Now I do think he almost left for that one NBA job in 2015 but that was the one and only time he ever has or will think about leaving UK. As someone else said - this site has jumped the shark if we are taking this seriously. It is being put out there for a distraction - so obvious.

These sources are all on the UCLA side. They are just trying to build up PR for their job opening and program.

If Cal takes the UCLA job by some universe altering mistake...... that just means something is badly amiss at UK... But thankfully there is 0.zero ... also known as NADA chance he takes the UCLA job. Since UCLA is trying to woo Pitino....... I bet money Pitino asked them to do something like this...
