Brad's red shirting only made sense in this type of context. That has bothered me from day 1.

What if he red-shirted to drag out his time playing here for a year longer? If he gets his graduate degree he could almost outlast Cal's current contract.

Calm down Matt. /s
Because it's rumor and innuendo that happens like clockwork every year, almost on cue. KSR knows this has as much merit as Bat Boy, but they don't care as long as they drive traffic to their website and radio show. Unfortunately, dishonest and unscrupulous reporting like this hurts recruiting, and also causes worry in the minds of our players who need to be focused on the the tournament.

Calm down? Didnt know I was irrate but whatever you say. I just asked you a question. Defensive much? Or just delicate?

But anyway, whether it has merit or not, its news about our head coach on a national TV show. That is news that is relevant and significant to the fan base. I didnt see you calling out any other UK websites that are reporting on it.

Once again I see some in this thread showing their asses towards KSR for simply doing what their jobs are.

A story that is really starting to pick up steam and you expect them not to cover it?

Why didn't Matt Jones ask Cal at the press conference, he had the microphone?

If it is all rumor Cal needs to end it now so as not to disrupt the team. If he doesn’t soon then it has legs plain and simple

Problem is even if Cal denies it? The media will spin it to the effect of “Cal trying to keep team focused; private jet scheduled for flight to LA.” Actually the best thing Cal can do is not saying a single word about it.

Look Charities are great. You dont know that Tubby didnt give to Charities he may not have made a punlic show of it, but he wasn’t brought here to make millionaires or donate to charity but to catch UCLA and win multiple titles. He has underachieved and been out coached in several big games including the title game while at Memphis.

Oh geez, here we go......

Thought it was funny when Few called Cal out about being able to survive living in Alaska. Few said he could manage in Montana if the hotel had a Spa and he didn't leave the hotel. kinda funny obviously are friendly.
I think UCLA is dead end for any and all coaches. The administration doesn't really care and I highly doubt they would offer anywhere near $10 m imo.

No, its not the best thing he can do. If there is no truth to these rumors, he needs to come out and squash it real quick. Saying nothing says alot.

UK will pay him the 10m per year if he wants it
It would not be a problem to come up with the extra money but $10M in LA would be a huge payout for Cal given the Cost of Living out there. If he left it wouldn't be for the money.

The problem is I’ve seen people completely and unequivocally deny something and then end up doing exactly that. Not saying Cal would do that, by any means. But by feeding into it he’s going to invite more spin.

However, Cal does have a way of shutting up the press too. I’m going to let Cal handle this one.

Yeah, I see that and your point. But with a crazed fanbase like ours, he'd be better off just getting it out of the way and telling everyone that he isn't going anywhere. I know a very select, yet very vocal, group would be ok with him leaving but they're complete idiots. Lol. Us real fans want to hear something from him that shuts these rumors down quickly. Not only for our fan base but for the players and recruits. Remember, Khalil Whitney hasnt signed yet. He just needs to come out and squash this **** real quick. IMO of course.

I am serious. I happen to know some major donors and boosters who are un happy. I love the recruiting hype and swagger of Cal but still think we should have had at least one more title. I will tell you this also...Heavens forbid Duke or UNC winning title this year because that would be 5 between them in Cals tenure and that would be totally unacceptable for me and for lots of others. You are a great poster and I have been here since the old Cats Paws board around 2000 and I am just tired of the mass exodus every year
I too know some major donors and boosters, but those guys are VERY happy with Calipari. Many of the "one and done" players who people loathe contribute to those donors and boosters. Calipari isn't just the basketball coach at UK.

Uhh I say cal is interested and money is only part of it. I’m sure the pressure in Lexington is getting to him. There are dust ups with his family and the media and fans. UCLA there is limited spotlight bc la is so big. He could recruit oads there and everyone would be happy with an occasional final four run. I feel like cal is planning his end game from coaching and perhaps the pressure will be too great the longer he goes in Lexington. UCLA is like UK when he took the job here. UK is the gold standard bc cal made it that way prior to him we were like UCLA in a lot of ways. He could revitalize that program, live in year round warmth, rake in millions and have less pressure. It’s probably a lot easier to recruit guys to UCLA than UK for cal. I say this rumor has legs. Maybe he’s looking for a contact renegotiation but this sounds a lot like the language about UK when he was at Memphis. I would be the least bit surprised if after the tournament he flew out there and negotiated a deal.

Anyone thinking this can’t happen has their head in the sand.

One other thing. Cal wants an undefeated season. The sec is now stacked and the pac10 is weak. He would have a title worthy team by May put together there.

Put your money where your mouth is please. How much would you be being willing to bet Cal will leave for UCLA?

Whatever clown. Keep assuming we have the best to offer for a guy who seems burned out at times. This job is difficult. UCLA is a piece of cake maybe cal wants his cake now.

One time in our history has a coach left UK that was not fired then accepted another college job. Many do not realize that Rupp accepted the job at Duke after he retired but he never coached a day there.

LOL, you know full well Cal won't respond to this now nor should he. You are just making it convenient for you to continue your crying and whining about him. You never answered my question. Why does your beloved Coach K get a pass on not making nor even getting close to making the Elite Eight every year? You hold Cal to that standard but not your beloved Coach K. Sad sack.

He was a huge choker, cost UK three titles and was a brainless moron during the last two seconds of the Duke game costing UK a final four. Besides being a cheater and overall terrible human being.
I do not like what Pitino has represented the past few years during the debacle at Louisville. But, I have a hard time believing you felt this way when RP was the coach here. He resurrected the UK program and brought our team back to national prominence.
You must have not seen the Duke game back in 1992. We had no business competing with that team and almost pulled off one of the greatest NCAA upsets of all time.
Pitino was also the coach of the greatest UK team in our stories history in 1996

I can say with certainty that Cal's ties to UK extend further than just his contract and his son's position on the team.

He's got merchandise contracts featuring UK players in the NBA that extend well into the future. The theme is "Family". I know this because I have a family member who works for a licensor who is currently creating those products.

I’m tempted to ask how old you are, whether you finished high school, and if you are capable of holding a job. Because every one of your posts in this thread absolutely scream “mentally deficient”.

In Cal’s 30 for 30 he said he longed to be at a program like UK. Now he’s here, why would he leave for UCLA? They’d have to offer an unbelievable package. The only possible way is if the money is like $15 million or he knows sanctions are coming, but there’s nothing to suggest sanctions are coming.

When has a coach ever come out and “squashed” rumors of him leaving? The only times I’ve seen a coach try to do that, it only sparked the rumors even more. There’s nothing Cal can do except sign an extension that’ll put an end to the rumors. Or UCLA hires another coach.

The point of my post was if you are going to say Cal has been a huge underachiever at UK then Pitino was also.

I'm thinking this maybe the one that gets him to leave. He has done all he can here and now seems to be just spinning his wheels. With the new recruiting rules and no more one and dones on the horizon maybe he sees this as an opportunity for UK and himsrlf to start fresh. But lord I hope not. Plus he would pull in all the west coast talent.
I think that is exactly the kind of program that a coach like Cal would look at if he wanted a change. He's already come to the gold standard to do his thing and in his final years coaching what would be more attractive than taking a down and out former blue blood and bringing them back to prominance in a setting where there's little pressure compared to here and no where to go but up and look good doing it. Plus the hollywood lifestyle that would seem to fit him. Makes perfect sense to me.

I personally don't think he would leave for UCLA but I have been wrong many times. But you know what if he leaves so be it. Thank him for what he has done here and on to the next coach. It isn't like UK can get a great coach or can't pay high dollar for a great coach.

I hope I am/was wrong but if IF Cal moves on then it would clearly be the "tell" that all of you missed.
