Cal ... One NCAA title ... 2012
K ... Two NCAA titles during Cal's tenure at UK ... 2010 and 2015

And speaking of 2010, Duke took home the bacon while a LOADED Wildcat team (Wall/Cousins/Patterson/et al) choked to WVU.

Oh ... and let's not forget 2013 and our wonderful NIT performance. The good folks at Robert Morris certainly haven't.

Not a lover of Coach K, but Cal has had a plate full of 5-stars while in Lexington and has one title to his name.

Oh, but you are a lover of K. You're not a UK fan. You're a liar. A pathetic one at that, too.

I don't report people, but it's clear you're a troll. Just a matter of time before you get banned.

And I only read your last sentence. It was enough to confirm the reasons you're really here.

Sorry to be Hot Take Harry here, but it needs to be said. Coach Rat Face has done a TERRIBLE job this year. First of all, he has constructed a team with 4 OADs and has ZERO bench. He lost ZW for a few games, but Little Brothel had a 21 pt lead on them. Let that sink in.

They were a half inch away from losing to WAKE FOREST in Cameron. They lost to Syracuse in Cameron. They got swept by UNCheat. Sure, he is still the most successful coach since Wooden, but you wouldn't know it by this season. He basically put it in cruise control when he had 3 top 5 players healthy. Now, they are a mess.

Did pretty well with Zion. Hard to bash the guy when he loses his best player. I hate Coach K like the rest but its a bit unfair to bash him like this when he loses the best player in the country. They were doing pretty well with him. They won the UL game, so it doesnt really matter what happened during the game, just the final score. Im sure we have been down to a few team that would be embarrassing if that actually meant something. Just sayin....

Not in my opinion.

I hate the Duke program, but I hate it for legitimate reasons. They certainly seem to get unfair advantages in the press, on the court (whistle), from the selection committee, from the clearing committee, AND from the infractions committee (Lance Thomas).

But all that **** is worth hating. I don't claim to have omniscience and know that K is responsible or all of that. Regardless of who is responsible, it's enough to say that I hate that they're doing it, whoever is actually doing it; it's hella unfair, and it sure doesn't seem to me that ALL of it could be just coincidence and/or my big blue glasses.

But these charges I can't really buy.

For one thing, if those 4 OADs had come here I would never accuse Cal of underachieving with them and therefore doing a bad coaching job. I would think he had done a great coaching job just by signing them all. For another thing, how far from a 1-seed are they, and how much closer would they be (coz surely it's gotta be /some/ difference) to a 1-seed if Zion had played every game? Coz at least I can’t put on K that Zion was out a few games.

I don't mean any disrespect. Generally I like your opinions. But I can't get on board with this particular one. jmho

Like 8 of his 17 posts mention Duke and how much better they are than UK. Look at who likes his post... a Duke fan.

And he is lying fake and phony
That's exactly why I can't stand him, he's a total phoney. He goes outta his way to make himself look like the greatest person ever. An example, he literally waited till the media was there to go congratulate Mercer in their locker room after they beat duke. What he said to them was so fake I cringed watching it. It was their moment and he chose to insert himself into it.

Or when he got on Kentucky radio immediately after his team beat us with the shot in 92. People called it classy but I call ********. Again you don't insert yourself into that moment trying to come off as a great person, but instead sound so disingenuous.

Or after we got them back in 98. He said I'm not crying because we lost, I'm crying because it was such a great game. WTF?

Or totally lying about what was said between him in the Oregon player in the handshake line. He kept lying about it until proof came out he was lying. He wouldn't address it after that.

I could go on forever but you get the point.

I wouldn’t say a mess by any stretch cause if Zions healthy they are favored. Having said that I said a few days back when Rat face was up for best coach of the season. Like wtf? If there was a coach who relied on one player and no coaching to speak of its rat face himself. Sick of the double standard.
I think we are one of only a handful of teams that can beat duke. We have the horses inside to do it. The only mix it up type player they have is Zion. Throw it on the block and make him guard our bigs for 40 minutes. He will have zero help with RT and PJ. I'm not scared of them one iota.

Caution!

The selection committee will provide Duke and Coach K the easiest path to the Final Four. Not only will they get the weakest opponents the referees assigned will be favorable. They will get the close calls in their favor. Duke will be favored to win it all. That is how it is.

A lot of us said in the beginning of the year that Duke can't succeed with 3 Small forwards, all of whom aren't anything great on defense.

Turns our Zion could play the 3, 4 and the 5... And Duke won a lot of games. So it worked.

But, it does seem that even just two superstar SFs in Reddish and RJ will have diminishing returns. I think we've only gotta to see a small portion of Cam reddish.. And while as a whole this experiment worked, not all three of these players got to showcase their talents. Cam might have been better served to go elsewhere and get 23ppg.

Yeah, Reddish would've definitely been better off going somewhere else. Curious to see, if and when Zion comes back, if there might be some chemistry issues. Since Zion's injury, Reddish has stepped up and taken on a bigger role. With Zion, his role will be completely different. We all know Barrett likes to put shots up and a lot of them. Should be interesting. We'll see.

I don't disagree . He constructed a horrible team IN terms of balance and overall talent. YOu just can't throw 3 lotto picks and above average pg ( Jones is in no way a OADer but I am sure he will leave and be a 2nd rounder and flounder out of the league in a year) with a bunch of scrubs and think you have a good team. If Duke had some good roles players ( like Quickley is this year for us) then Duke would be completely different as a team. But as they are built the stars have to score 25 each basically and the pg has to have a good game for them to have a chance as the other 6 guys will provide nothing.

You think if everything was the same but it said UK on their jerseys, you would be ok with losing to Syracuse at home, being down 21 to UL, and being a half inch away from losing at home to 11-17 Wake Forest? You don't think Cal would be getting major flak over that?

This will be decided on the court. I personally think all things considered it was a very good year. When Tre, RJ, Cam and Zion have been healthy and together, Duke loss ONE game to Gonzaga by 2.

Let’s get it on Thursday

Any truth to the rumor that K has petitioned the NCAA to have the losses Duke had without Zion assigned to Jon Scheyer?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Reddish is averaging more FG attempts than Zion. He’s playing 30 minutes a game and getting looks whenever he wants. If he would have just shot better this season he would have looked awesome. His poor shooting shouldn’t be a result of Zion and RJ being on the team, in reality they’ve gotten him more open looks.

I mean, there’s “be okay with it” and then there’s “be okay with it,” right?

Would I be okay with us losing? Of course not. I want to win every fricking game.

But would I blame Cal or any of the players or the whole team collectively? Most likely not. It’s not my way. Lots of folks do that to Cal/team all the time, but I don’t. I don’t see it as either productive or emotionally strong.

Not saying I’m better than anyone else, just saying it’s the way I am personally. Call me simple. I find I am happier living in a world where there’s not necessarily a need to blame anybody when something goes wrong. **** just happens.

I am not at all incapable of getting pissed off at a particularly boneheaded decision by Cal or by anybody else. But still, in general I get pissed off when we lose, but I don’t tend to get pissed off at anyone. (Even when I really believe the refs have affected things unfairly—even to the point where it sure looks like they must have done it intentionally, which generally does happen at least one time a year, I don’t really dwell on it besides making jokes about it and wishing it would stop. Anything more would feel like weakness to me.)

Maybe I should be trying to put all this another way:

If someone is smarter about basketball than me generally, and he honestly seems to be trying to make my team win, then I don’t really feel like I have the right or even the need to say he’s doing a bad job. Doesn’t mean I worship him or even like everything he’s doing. But I feel comfortable giving him a pass for whatever individual moves I don’t like or even hate, as long as he’s trying to behave honorably in general (we’re all human), and as long as I can step back and feel like he’s generally got the program headed in a good direction in terms of success (which I think anyone would have to say about Cal and also about K and his program).

And given that I think all that, I can extrapolate it over to K because I want to be fair to K. It’s unfairness that I hate, and in the times I get emotional and feel myself wanting to hate K, it’s because I feel he’s cheating somehow——in those times I feel that he’s doing it, whether that’s reality or not.

And if I hate unfair behavior so much, why the hell would I want to do It myself on purpose? So that’s why I say can’t see myself blaming K for that stuff, at least not enough to think it meant he was doing a bad job. It doesn’t have anything at all to do with any special love for K. It is in fact explicitly because I would never think Cal was doing a bad (year-long) coaching job for those things, even if for some reason I thought those examples were coaching flubs individually. (I can’t speak to whether they are K’s individual coaching flubs in the cases you listed. Because I didn’t know about them. Generally I can’t stand to watch a Duke game.)
