I’m sure I’ll say some more asinine stuff in the future. People get WAY too bent out of shape over it.
That's fair. I get that. I personally think - don't post anything stupid, because if someone throws it in your face, you can't get away from it. Don't hit send, as Herm Edwards said. Own what you say. I believe all that. But i also get what you say - people can and do use this place to vent in the heat of the moment.

But to me there's a difference between someone saying something hot in the middle of a disappointing loss.......vs someone a day or two later just complaining about our coach and wanting him gone. As i said in another thread, if you say things that sound exactly like what a rival fan would say, you're doing it wrong, and people will naturally assume you're a troll or an idiot. What gets me, and others, is, this isn't IU or Louisville, where things have bottomed out over the last few years and, therefore, would give folks reasonable grounds to ***** and moan. As everyone knows - we've won more games, won more NCAA tournament games, more sweet 16s/elite 8s/final 4s than anyone else since Cal has been here. In short.....if you find yourself complaining much in the midst of that kind of success....again, you're not doing it right, and possibly need to examine your perspective.

Main thing, I think, is this place can get overrun with the negativity at times - again, in the midst of all that success I just referenced. People get tired of it, so you're going to get some "back in your face" in that setting. I can't tell, never could tell, if that negativity is coming from 3% of posters or 35% or whatever, a little or a lot. I do know a few bad apples can create a vibe. And I also know, again in that setting, everyone gets thrown into the same bucket - the guy who idiotically says "Cal is done" and the guy who is just venting with a normal complaint we all might make, all get thrown into the same stew......

Did you miss the previous 286 times Cal coached a UK team to victory? Or do you just pick the fly-**** out of the pepper....

I'll tell you what I have missed, hanging No. 9, when we have the No. 1 class in recruiting for the last 9 years. I really don't give a big rat's *** how many we send to the NBA. I don't believe the NBA is paying Coach Cal's salary. I bleed BLUE, not NBA colors.

“Facts”? UK has had more comparative success than any other program in the United States during the time he has been the UK coach. Because Cal has won one championship instead of 2 you dismiss him as unsuccessful? In the glorious history of UK basketball only Adolph Rupp in the late 40’s and early 50’s has had better success during a similar period of time.

Cal rescued UK from the abyss of mediocrity or worse following the Gillispie snd Smith coaching tenures. UK could have slipped into the bowels of college basketball like the former Indiana and UCLA dynasties but he instantly brought UK back. Prime time players came to UK because of Cal not because of UK.

If Four Final Fours and one national title later in 9 years is not enough for you to conclude that Cal has demonstrated he’s been the best coach in the country during the same period of time dude, you are the ignorant one.

It's obvious you are to ignorant to read what I said, and only make up what you want to say, I said.

You are truly stupid. As Al McGuire said, "UK had it before X, and they will have it after X." Alabama is the same in football as we are in basketball. Schools will get bad coaches, but they will get rid of them and come back. When Cal's gone, we will still be UK, just as we have been after previous coaches were gone.

The OP is the king of idiotic gibberish, so no surprise. He aint gettin’ no younger, his clock is ticking and nothing short of a title will bring him “happiness”. Seems to be a theme around here with several of “the fossils”.

I have no problem forgiving and overlooking the occasional rant but the ones that continually do nothing but put down and tear down a program they pretend to be fan's of is what I have no tolerance for. Not saying that's you but the one's that been on here for the last 10 or so years know the ones that do it.

Some think that because they are 90 years old, Cal owes them something. Pure selfishness, honestly.

Why? Why bring this thread up?

It’s just unnecessary.

Back when this thread started we sucked. When we suck, fans appropriately bring it up.

We sucked against Arkansas 3 nights ago. People are going to bring it up and talk about it.

If we play great tomorrow and win, people will talk about it.

If we suck tomorrow and lose by 20, guess what? We’re going to be posting about it.

Some of you try to complicate this stuff.

Those teams we played were trash with zero desire to play defense. Try harder. Actually, don’t. Let us sane fans enjoy this ride.

One of those trash teams beat Michigan who turned out to be pretty good. This team would be #1 is Cal just never coached them.

You've been watching as close as anyone here. We got blown out in game one with no defensive principals. Do you see tomorrow's game as a possible 20-point loss because of losing Travis or the Ark game? I just don't see anything other than a win or close loss. I don't see my scenario as unreasonable either.

I’m with you Jimmy to some degree.

I don’t think there’s much of a chance of us getting blown out.

I can see us winning by a decent margin though. 10-15 points. The reason I think this is a possibility is our defense matches up well with them. They don’t have some Naz Reid type dude who blocks shots and rebounds like crazy.

All this being said, I think it comes down to who makes, and guards the 3 better. The inside matchup is probably going to be about a wash.

What's the time limit for bumping old threads in your rulebook ?
The way I look at it, this thread sucks. The people who "liked" this thread sucked. When threads and other posters suck, people are going to bring it up.
If you don't like it take it up with the admins. As for now anybody can bump any thread they want. Why ? To point out to people how much their threads suck.

Silly to bring up stuff people posted in the heat of the moment.

You’re not human if you’ve never said things you really don’t mean.

Some people are more emotional than others.

I’m sure most of us growing up at some point told our Moms that we hated them.

I’m pretty sure my Mom didn’t hold that against me, so I’m not going to hold a fan who said something in a December against him.

We looked awful and poorly coached at times earlier in the year. Just because the team has played a lot better the last 6 weeks doesn’t change that.

I’ve posted stupid things that I really didn’t mean.

Hell, I’ve ripped Cal a few times. However, anyone that knows me will tell you that there’s no one on the planet that I want as Coach here besides John.

If Jesus can forgive those that have done truly evil things, then I think we can forgive posters that said something negative back in December. But hey, that’s just me.

I don’t think anyone is angry at you just pointing out how silly it is to overreact.

Look, we’re all UK fans. Well, at least 98% of the regulars that post here are.

I’ve said for the 12 years I’ve posted here, everyone has different ways of dealing with how the team plays.

Personality’s range from 1 to 1000.

Hell, I posted a couple of months ago that Cal was a below average Coach. Someone brought that quote by my dumbass up a couple of weeks ago.

Did I really mean that? No. I was drunk and pissed off at the time.

I just don’t see the point of bringing old, negative threads up. We all want the best for this University.

I’m at the Marriott in Knoxville now, and I might post something stupid tomorrow. That’s ok. Message boards are made for losers like me.

As an old Racetrack buddy said to me years ago after a really bad day betting the ponies, we’ll gettem tomorrow!

I agree with you, mostly. But threads like this tend to bring out the other 2% in droves, I don't have a problem with folks rubbing it in their faces. They come here to have their fun at our expense, to dance on our grave prematurely, nothing wrong with reminding them when they look stupid.

Yeah, I can see both sides. Probably because I’ve been on both sides.

I think DellOwl said it best a few months ago. I’m about 50% likable with my posts. and about 50% unlikable with my posts.

The only thing I truly care about is the success of this University. I love being a Kentuckian, and I’m truly blessed to have been born a Kentucky fan.

Cool stuff.

After reading a lot of post, after the Seton Hall game, I believe the "Bloom is off the Rose," as far as Coach Cal is concerned. There are still a lot of Coach Cal fans, and a lot of fans who are NOT Coach Cal fans. Coach Cal was the best recruiter in basketball when he come to UK. He is still a good recruiter, but players have found out they don't have to come to UK to get drafted after one year. In 9 years of being either No. 1 or No. 2 in recruiting, he has won, one Championship. Three other teams have won 2 each, and two of those teams did not have the talent UK had. The coaching was the difference.
Vance Walberg was the inventor of the "Dribble Drive," but in two years as the HC at Pepperdine, his record was 14-35. The "Dribble Drive" doesn't use a lot of plays, but primarily lets a player go one on one to get to the basket. Offenses change over time, but it's hard to beat, Pick and Roll, Give and Go, set screens so the player can get away from his man, double screens, back-door cuts etc. Just about any Kentucky man, who played basketball in high school knows what I'm talking about. You don't have to have the best recruits to win, but they must have discipline to run the plays.
When we won the NC, we had the No. 1 an 2 in the draft, but more important, we had a leader in Miller. We haven't had one in a few years. Hopefully one will come forward on this team. If not, It's going to be a looong year, and the booo birds will be loud and clear.

Did you know one of those schools you speak of Villanova has q coach that coached there 19 years before winning one and has had several 5 star guards, also has had numerous one seeds and not really advanced past the 2nd rd much until he finally got one in 2016.

Now ask yourself. How bad would you have wanted to run run Jay Wright out of town...bc you actually think you would have given him that long to win a championship, especially after that many 1 seeds in the old big east.

Some of you are so clueless its laughable.

Also in a one and out tournament the best team.always doesnt win. If duke doesnt win this year with 3 top 5 draft picks has the bloom fall off coach k? Hasnt be coached like 20 plus more years than Cal? With a 1999 team that had 5 lottery, not just 1st rd, picks on the roster and didnt even get to a final four. Duke should have ran him off then I suppose.

When Some of you are ready to tighten the noose after regular season games bc they are life and death its hilarious.

Relax man.

Jay Wright is an awesome Coach. Cals in the Hall of Fame. He needs a second title though.

Except Villanova isn’t Kentucky. And Cal doesn’t have five titles. I think everyone agrees with your premise that Cal is a great coach but he’s not above criticism. Wright at Nova and Coach K really are because win 5 titles at Duke or 2 at Nova earns that.
