Some of you folks in the game thread need to chill. You alternate between “championship contender!” after a good game and “garbage team I’m turning off the game” after a bad one. This is just a bad game. We miss shots we usually hit, they have a guy shoot 6-6 from 3 in the first half, officiating is questionable, and it’s on the road. This stuff happens. It’s why going undefeated is hard. It’s why the tournament is hard. It’s why basketball is hard. How long have some of you been watching basketball, and you still don’t know how to roll with it?

Relax. Give the team time to learn from its mistakes.

Teams have to learn to win-that’s ugly sometimes. Always a fan of who we are in March so I’ll coast with you.

Agree but it won't happen. The usual suspects are giddy.

The hatin’ and bitchin’ emerges very quickly, doesn’t it? I see a young team that got overconfident after the Bahamas and paid for it and the same thing happened today after two huge wins against UNCheat and UL.

12-6 in conference play will be a good record for us.

None of the road games will be easy.

It’s just reality. In the scheme of things, it’s just a game.

Not worth ruining the day over.
Two to Auburn two to Tennessee. That's five counting today. I'm saying 10-6.

I still don’t know what to make of this team. I was pretty much checked out on them until the UNC and UL game. This game isn’t going to waiver me one way or the other but it goes to show you, the fans who thought we were on our way a week ago, may have to pump the brakes a bit. This team has a lot a work to do

The problem with the "give them time to learn" crap is that by the time they do learn we have 12 losses and we are 7 seed. We aren't advancing to many final fours with seeding like that. You just can't take this many losses in order to learn how to play the game. This all freshman crap has got to stop. 4 or 5 new comers ok, but 8 to 10 of them and you aren't a serious contender and we are seeing why.

Winning on the road in the SEC is never easy...it just isn't regardless who you play IMO. But, these games are the ones that you need to get come NCAAT time for seeding.

3 point defense got us again. Lost motivation and quit rebounding in second. Everything else came from that.

All fixable. Seen flashes. Just a few steps forward and a few steps back.

Think playing weekday games will actually help this team. The roller coaster is easier to manage when it hasn’t bee 7 games since the last time you got on. Will improve focus and promote consistency, in my humble opinion.

I predicted 6 weeks ago we will lose 10 games at least, but I still see high ceiling for this team. I am not giving up on them.

I was consistently labeled a “negative Nancy” after the first month or so of the season and being pretty unhappy with what I was seeing. That being said, even I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the meltdown during and following the game today. We lost an SEC game on the road, that **** happens all the time. No fun to lose but it’s not worth jumping off a bridge over it.

Yea, even I have been mostly positive today. This was a game the players lost by not executing like they did last 2 games. This what you get with freshmen every year. < That wasn't negative, was it?

Under Calipari we have failed to make the Sweet 16 just twice in 9 years and have made the final four times in those 9 years. That's pretty damn good. I too would like our roster to have less turnover and for us to find guys some guys who will do great and stick around, but it just might not be possible with our culture, and I don't think too many coaches will have the success Calipari has had.

Excellent post. Especially when read in Adam Jensen’s voice.

Amazing how two letters change the entire outlook of a team: W or L. We hit that lost shot? We're back to being a great team.

Kentucky played well enough to get a win. Reid had a bad game, but everyone else played fine. Just had a bad shooting night after some big wins a few weeks ago. What kills me is the SEC tries waaaay too hard to equalize teams. They seemed more concerned to give everyone a chance instead of letting them play (or in the ACC and B12s instance, letting the cash cows eat).

Alabama will lose its next game by 15. Arkansas will score 50 on a Tuesday and then drop 85 on us on Saturday. You rarely see this with other conferences and the blue bloods. What teams go on to beat Duke or Kansas and then just crap themselves the rest of the year? SEC teams just knock each other around and to me, that hurts the conference. Let the good teams be good.

10-8 if today is any indication.
I’ll tell you what JohnnyBomb, and I’m dead serious, I’ll bet you $1000 that this team finishes better than 10-8 in conference play.

I’ve been wrong countless times in my life, (just ask my Wife), and I could be wrong about this also, but I’m willing to bet you on this.

I noticed some said their "sunshine pumps" broke so that is probably the reason for roller coaster approach, I suspect they were the cheap chinese made ones that didn't hold up.

It wouldn't be about being a great team, it would be about positioning yourself. Given the makeup of the SEC this year, this was a game UK needed. Now we will most likely count on another team to pull off an unexpected win against UT or we win a road game we aren't expected to. While the SEC may be chaotic, its more likely that with this many good teams there is very little margin of error.

A win wouldn't have done much to shut down the 'what happened to the team that beat Louisville' questions.

But a loss has now opened up questions about whether we can win the SEC regular season and our seeding.

Given the number of good teams in other P5 conferences, its unlikely we'll see multiple #1 or #2 seeds from the SEC this year.

The team just dug a hole for itself to start the conference play. When people say we'll be fine after a loss like this, the question is - as opposed to what?
