I think YOU are the "naive" one thinking Pitino will be cleared to coach in the NCAA when their investigation is still ongoing.
Have a good day. I'm watching UK football! [banana]
You realize a coach doesn’t have to be “cleared” to coach right? They haven’t charged him with anything yet. Same with Miller and self. So he could in fact take the gig until charges are proven.
[laughing] I'm ignorant?
In the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an administrative punishment ordering that any NCAA penalties imposed on a coach found to have committed major rules violations will stay in effect against that coach for a specified period of time—and could also be transferred to any other NCAA-member school that hires the coach while the sanctions are still in effect.
The penalty is intended to prevent a coach from escaping punishment for violations that he/she had a role in committing or allowing—-which are generally applied to the school (e.g., lost scholarships, forfeited and vacated wins)--by merely resigning and taking a coaching job at another, unpenalized school. It is currently the most severe penalty that can be brought against an American collegiate coach.
Contrary to popular belief, an NCAA member school is allowed to hire a coach who is under an ongoing show-cause order. However, the show-cause restrictions make it prohibitively difficult for a coach with a show-cause order to get another violation.
Consequently, most schools will not even consider hiring a coach with a show-cause penalty in effect, meaning that it usually has the effect of blackballing that coach from the collegiate ranks for at least the duration of the penalty. Many coaches who receive a show-cause penalty never coach again even afterthe penalty expires, since a large number of athletic directors and university presidents/chancellors are unwilling to hire someone with a history of major violations due to the potentially disastrous effects the hiring could have on the program.

I understand your mancrush for Pitino, but he's not being hired at UNLV today and the whole thing may be a rumor. Please have someone hold you in case it isn't true. I feel sad for you.
The NCAA started their investigation in November and U6 appears to commited Level 2 violations while on probation. That is "lack of institutional control." Just because Pitino doesn't coach there anymore, then he won't be able to avoid penalties.
I know you'll disagree and be wrong again, so I'm done trying to educate you. Have a good New Year's Day. [smoke]
There is a reason so many teams have spurned Pitino already in the last year...
It’s because teams think Pitino might get the show cause when the ncaa goes through the whole fbi mess
Which teams?
Wrong again.Siena wanted to hire Pitino, but he turned them down...
Wrong again.

Wrong again.
Rick Pitino denies interest in Siena basketball coaching job
Hall of Fame coach wants to resume career after Louisville firing
Major college program denies it almost hired Rick Pitino
After a report surfaced early Tuesday morning on GoLocalProv.com suggesting Rhode Island had a deal in the works for the former Louisville coach to take over Dan Hurley’s old job, the school and sources close to Pitino denied any such deal existed.
The initial report claimed Rhode Island athletic director Thorr Bjorn was in talks with Pitino on a contract worth $2 million per year – significantly less than he was making at Louisville – but that university president David Dooley nixed the idea.
Now the school is saying the initial report was completely fabricated.
“University President David M. Dooley and Athletic Director Thorr Bjorn have not spoken with Rick Pitino,” the school said in a statement on its website. “Athletic Director Bjorn never presented an offer to President Dooley related to Rick Pitino.
“The university takes journalistic integrity very seriously and denies the validity of this story in its entirety. The University has requested the story be removed from the GoLocalProv website.”
Pitino was fired from Louisville in October over the ongoing NCAA scandal, as well as a number of other issues, which led to the NCAA vacating the Cardinals’ 2013 national championship.
Pitino has expressed bitterness over the situation, and with his job prospects looking especially limited, it seems likely that bitterness won’t be waning.
“Every night I go to bed, I’m bitter at the US attorney’s office and at the board of traitors,” Pitino recently said. “I’m not bitter at the school but at the board of traitors.”

Unfortunately, there's a lot of that going around on the board.Cindog just ignore the rude people.
Siena wanted to hire Pitino, but he turned them down...
He aint coaching NCAA again for a while..
This was a rumor as well, started by,,,,wait for it,,,Pitino...He did it just to keep his name in the spotlight. This new rumor is also probably started by Pitino as well. He thinks that maybe a desperate team will take a chance if they think soneone else will. Dont think Pitino is happy in Greece.
So we are in agreement that he will coach again in the NCAA....thanks.
And Greece is nice...you should visit sometime. Very relaxing. Dollar goes far these days.
I actually have been there a couple of times. It is very beautiful, but its like the old saying" It's a nice place to visit, but i wouldnt want to live there." I didnt say it wasnt nice, but visiting and staying there are totally different. Someone with Pitino's lifestyle, wouldnt be happy.
Even though he looks like he is on his deathbed, Pitino still has some coaching years left. If they dont give him a lifetime ban, i do think he will try to coach again. No one knows the future though. And i am not in agreement with you.
Perfect for both. Pitino is a perfect fit for sin city. He can cheat on his wife and hire strippers and no one cares. And UNLV has a history of cheating and Pitino can help them accomplish their goal.Per @VitalVegas on Twitter.....
Rumor is Rick Pitino will coach UNLV men’s basketball, five year deal for 2.5 million a year to be announced after the mountains west tourney.
Thoughts?
I beg to differ...Pitino is a big city type of guy. I'm sure if Pitino can live in both Lexington and Lousiville, he will be fine in Athens. Athens is more of a big city than both Louisville and Lexington.
And why would Pitino get a lifetime ban? Do you not notice Bill Self still coaching a team that can win it all...they have him on tape talking about paying players...
Siena wanted to hire Pitino, but he turned them down...
Y'all act like the NCAA is a bastion of morality. The NCAA is much more corrupt than Pitino can ever be and he fits in nicely with all of college sports.
All that matters in the NCAA is winning. Nothing more and nothing less. Bill Self has been cheating all these years, but guess what, his employers could care less.
Y'all need to stop being so naive and judgemental. If this happens, this is big for UNLV. Would love to see this happen.
You’d “love” to see this happen? So just because there’s cheating at other institutions it gives (in your opinion) Rick Pitino a pass for hiring prostitutes for underage recruits ? And attempting to pay 100k for a recruit? And having sex on a table at a public restaurant then paying hush money for his buddy to marry said woman? Then paying for her abortion?
Your political takes are god awful and it seems as if your basketball takes are as well. Stick to the paddock brother, you’re out of your element here.
The difference , and i really shouldnt have to point this out, is more than half of the people dont speak english and media will not hang on every word you say is a huge for an egotistical, self centered pompous a-hole. Not desirable for someone with his personality.
