I let my 8 year old daughter play Read Dead Redemption 2 for about 30 minutes the other night while I was helping her. About 10 minutes in she rolls up on a guy and it pops up "you've found a secret meeting" and she immediately, and on accident because she can't use the controller correctly, fires one off right into his gut. He screams "YOU SON OF A *****" at her and the entire town tries to chase her while she runs away on her horse. She then proceeds to run the horse off a cliff and kill both herself and the horse.

I am a good parent.
If (when) I end up buying this game, it will be because of this post.

Man what an awesome time, me and my buddy were official dads let into the wild for a weeknight mode and did an absolutely MISERABLE job of pacing ourselves.

Was my first ever UK travel game and was so amazed by how many UK fans there were, at least 90%, it was awesome. Had a great dinner at Prime 47, drank an incredible amount including way too many shots. The bartender at Tin roof gave us 120 dollars back as change for a 20 we gave him. Didn’t realize it until we headed to another bar so we took this as a sign that we need to blow it all on more booze. Ended up with great seat row 1 up in the upper level thanks to MSU.

Me and my buddy were so drunk we were pretty much disoriented and confused as to what the hell was happening during the actual damn game, which was an amazing blessing in disguise. Felt like Keldon Johnson was balling in the beginning, wasn’t he? How in gods name did they score 118?? I mean seriously WTF happened.

All we heard about this offseason was how giddy the coaching staff is about this team. Kept hearing how everyone was a dog. Dog this dog that dog dog dog. WTF happened, I can’t imaging the coaching staff was this off about what kind of team we’ll be. I’m just going to hope this was like the 2011 UCONN Maui game where we couldn’t even dribble the ball past half court and we’ll improve dramatically.

Midweek hangover really starting to settle in now.[sick]

You hit the nail on the head man. Watched DVR of first 5 mins or so....didn't look too bad. Then it was like missed shots, turnovers, etc. Tide really turned after first set of subs...ie Green/Richards. It was all downhill. Awesome time though!

Trying to explain UK to someone who didn't go there is like trying to explain Earth to a Martian. Whatever you say will not register. Don't bother, not worth it. I mean, it's not like you root for NAIA sports teams.

Missed WCC, was looking for you, man. Was at Tin Roof from 5 to 7:30, but I get it. I would rather have left and actually tried to leave 2 or 3 times, but somehow never did.

Didn't know Fields was there, but we saw your dad and his buddies when we were walking into the game. Always love those guys.

My significant UKBB experiences in Indy (since and excluding about 5 epic UK vs IU games in the 90s):

-1997: national championship game loss to Arizona.
-2015: FF loss to Wisconsin.
-2018: epic beatdown by Duke to start the season.

Three strikes, done. It's somehow the only bad karma that the state of Indiana holds over us in basketball. It's like a last gasp from IU's grave. Plus the fact that Duke is somehow charmed there makes it doubly worse. 2010, 2015, Tuesday night. And to think, we pulled IU through vs Duke in the 2002 NCAAT in Rupp.

Yeah, F that place. Done.

I just can’t stop thinking about the tide turning in recruiting the last 5 years. We obviously fell out of favor at some point with Nike. Duke has the two best players in the country and 3 of the best 15 or so. What’s more is that unlike the last few years, these dudes can all play together. Big difference between elite Top 5 guys and Top 10ish guys.

Hasn’t been all that long- Monk/Fox/Bam were all Top 5 talents (hence our awesome season and the fact we were one of the two best teams in the land by March), IMO, but this past class was a complete asskicking and now we deal with the consequences.

There’s some non-UK AAU guy on Rafters- the dude who called Fox to Kentucky before we were even recruiting him. Anyway, he made a comment over the summer I thought was interesting. Said Anthony Davis signing with Rich Paul would help mend some **** with Nike/Lebron and UK. Hope that’s true and hope it starts with one of the 3 elite bigs- Stewart, Wiseman or Carey.

As far as this team, we’ll have a say come March. Just have to hope Herro/Johnson develop into an elite pair of wings and we figure out PG (Cal nearly always does). Travis is a rock- need to focus on him more. I don’t trust any of our sophomores. Maybe they’ll convince me.

-Still think a lot of it has to do a combination with K(Capel)/USA, the loss of Antigua, Platoon, and Cal possibly puckering up after the Pitino stuff. But you can't have the turnover we have and recruit 10-25+ ranked players. You bring in top 10 guys, like wcc said, Bam/Fox/Monk and you're ok. There's 5-6 NBA ready guys each year and from 2009-2015 we were getting 2 of them.

-I think Wiseman is all but gone at this point unless he's just being an ******* to the home town crowd. Then Carey and Stewart end up at Duke/MSU in some combination. We could possibly pluck Carey but it just doesn't sound like it. That makes McDaniels and Dante pretty damn important. Still that would give us 3 top 8 players with McDaniels or 4(maybe) with Dante.

-Roy, K and Pitino all had to make adjustments at similar points in their career and Cal will as well. This isn't a Tubby situation where he'll sit by stubborn and allow others to pass us up. He's way too good for that.

Would anyone consider Maxey in that elite category?

I just want someone who can block a shot.

Wenyen would be a help to this team...of course, I say that and our returners played worse than the freshman (who were terrible sans KJ).

PJ was a complete and total non-factor, this BS about him being a wing is poison to his game and Cal needs to nip it. He's only playing in the league as a 4/5. Quade comes in about 4 minutes and and proceeds to take a contested 3 and throw a one-handed cross court pass that shouldn't be tried in BBM...both Duke fast breaks. I think it went from 8 to 14 within seconds of our vet PG getting in. Nick Richards played like he was blindfolded, in my best Mike Singletary, "can't win with em!".

I'm typing what all you already know and saw...just helps to scream at a cloud sometimes.

I think our issue is going to be guard play. Said that preseason and still believe it. Can't be great without great guards.

Who knows if Wenyen would help or not- another guy you cannot count on and Cal’s development of multiyear guys has been suspect at best.

PJ isn't going to play in the league. At best, he'll get a cup of coffee. I don't see Richards even getting a sniff.

I bring up WWW, but only b/c something has happened with us not being the cool school anymore. Lebron used to be besties with Cal. Now, we barely see him. Same with Drake. I mean that first few years with John Wall through Anthony Davis, it was basically a who's who of college basketball...and those guys were rock stars. Now, we're kind of a 1A or 2nd choice to Duke. Something went down...whether it's Nike/Lebron/Drake/WWW...but something isn't the same. That has to change.

Maybe because Cal got fat.

Your well documented hatred of fat people.

You’ve been much nicer to me since I dropped weight.

Maybe Drake and Lebron are as fickle as you.

I’ll talk to WWH and Huber about passing the Kentucky Owl around with Cal, but he doesn’t drink so...

Honestly, I think Hagans, Herro and Quickly will develop into a pretty good trio of guards by mid-season. Each brings something a little different. And to be fair, Hagans played pretty good early in that game, had a nice drive and finish and played good D. That 2nd foul - which was BS and should have been a layup the other way - took him out of the game and he never recovered.

Quade has me wondering...I mean, if he isn't hitting 3's at a reasonable clip, what does he do?

I still think our issue, outside of the obvious "no top 5 talent" is the failure to recruit wings...again, we have one, they had 3 or 4 on the floor at a time.

Quade’s fragile *** needs to start, have said that all along. Herro 6th man instant O.

Hate him all you want, but we need him ‘right’ if we’re going to do anything special.

Everyone around the program was high on him, talking of how “different” he looked — then he’s benched on opening night.

I don’t get it. Know your players.
