John Calipari did not make or break Memphis. He had a great run here but we have moved on and we have our guy, Penny Hardaway. Memphis 2019 class will have James Wiseman #1 player from Tennessee, DJ Jeffries #1 player from Mississippi, and Trendon Watford #1 player from Alabama and the best front court in America. Team Penny and M33M have Memphis wired through 2023. The NCAA will be sure that we cross paths and Memphis will be ready. Keep talking but we will #SayLess.
My goodness.

Jeffries to Memphis not good for UK it was once a rumor they wanted to play together this commitment along with cal reaching out to other bigs probably means Wiseman to Memphis any day now because his realatonship to penny is more important than playing at UK he can get to the nba just as well at memphis because of his talent so why not play with a friend and help the coach that has been the most loyal to you
SHUT UP....u ain't no Wildcat ...more likely to go to Vandy than Memphis

There is an old saying "Don't count your chickens before they hatch". Things change very fast in recruiting.

Grace, agree that Memphis under Cal was the golden years & no one does it like Cal. He was a master marketer of the school & the basketball program, as well as a great recruiter. He has been impossible for us to replace. You have to admit, however, that he has underachieved with the talent that he has had. That being said, your time is coming in the next few years when Cal will retire, getting tired of dealing with your obnoxious & holier than thou fanbase. In the meantime, he may have to change some of his recruiting tactics with the current FBI investigations that are ongoing. I understand your tradition as a great basketball program & y’all will get a good coach, but no one will be able to follow him or want to follow him. Enjoy him while he’s there. Most fans around the country will enjoy the melt down from your fans when he leaves. Penny has 0 wins, so time will tell, but I wouldn’t sell him short, based on his successful start in recruiting. One thing we both will agree on is thank goodness Tubby is not coaching either of our programs.

Why do you need our approval and validation? It’s kinda pitiful

Actually it's five coaches (Rupp-4, Hall-1, Pitino-1, Smith-1, Calipari-1).
Thanks Thack. I knew that..........I actually don't count The Perv.......I am for taking his name out of our record books and placing an asterick for the coaches name.........I think at one time he was mentioned as he who shall not be named.........

I'm a poor and contented man, and I don't ask for much in this life. That said, my humble request for next year is the meek offerings of the following lineup:

Wiseman
McDaniels
Whitney
Herro
Maxey

With Green, Walker, Allen, Baker, and an D-league-level grad transfer big off the bench.

;)

I was never mad that he left Memphis...I mean, Cal gave Memphis 9 years. I was mad that he left us on NCAA probation and took a committed recruit. I feel like that's reasonable.

Derrick Rose left you on probation.

Only UNC and Duke would have survived that. They are living proof.

The only way Memphis would meet UK in the NCAAs would be Memphis as a 14-16 seed.

What have you done lately? Nothing. You may get great recruits but someone has to coach them. Can't wait to see how that plays out.

Right lol it was all Rose and Camby...Cal is perfectly clean and it’s just coincidence that he left both Memphis and UMass on probation with vacated FF...I’m sure he’s actually the real victim here [/rollseyes]

That’s why Penny hired the NBA Coach of the Year who lead Toronto to back-to-back playoffs in Sam Mitchell along with Ole Miss’ Assoc HC/Interim HC in Tony Madlock....they know Xs and Os

We really don’t care.
There’s a reason those guys were available...
Memphis will never be relevant again.

I give Penny credit for recognizing his experiential weakness and making two hires to help mitigate the risk to Memphis.

Memphis hired a high school coach. It doesn’t matter what players he brings in if he has no clue what to do with him.

Anyway, when Memphis is fighting for a spot in the NIT this year, Wiseman isn’t going to be overly excited about the idea of committing there to compete for the prestigious American Conference. Or is it C-USA? I honestly don’t know because I haven’t heard much about Memphis basketball since the one successful coach in their school history left them for better.

Right, Sam Mitchell’s win percentage of .433 is actually even worse than Memphis’ the last decade. I’m sure he’ll get them straightened up for a run at the NIT.

I don't want him as our HC but if he can take the Toronto to a couple of playoffs and be named NBA COY then he's more than qualified to be Penny's Assoc HC to help with Xs and Os.

Sam's NBA career looks better than Cal's...that's for sure.

Haven’t had any issues here.

I don’t know- maybe when your school, program, fanbase and city are all trash you have to cut corners. I wouldn’t know. I’m a lifelong fan and graduate of the greatest program of all-time.

Anyway- have a good one. I’m putting you on ignore. No offense, but I just don’t have time for midmajors. The insecurity complex is just too much.

Good luck in the the Metro or Great Midwest or whatever conference you’re in now, as well as the NIT next year.

This, as well as Wiseman LLC won't like playing in half filled gyms and only regional or conferance coverage. Penny may be a coaching genius, we will very shortly. Needs to fill up Fed Ex and protect home court.
Penny needs Wiseman, that was probably the only reason he was hired. Wiseman doesn't need Penny. That dynamic would be interesting to watch if he ultimately decides to go there. If Wiseman wants be a big fish in a small pond, if he accepts mediocrity, then so be it, if it's purely a business decision, Cal has a proven recoRd getting you and keeping you as the first pick.
Basketball is big business, the sooner Wiseman learns that, the more successful he will be in the long run.

Say what you wish think what you want my writing skills has nothing to do with the fact than any UK fan that doesn't see the Wiseman to UK has cooled since penny went to Memphis is not being realistic
Who cares we will still be ten times better than your mediocre team. Wiseman needs to be surrounded by good players he is not a game changer by himself. If you think Jeffries who we recruited over is a great player you will be very dissapointed.

Keep up lad. Go back and read my posts like some of these other neophytes. Stop making assumptions lad.

Thank you for perfectly illustrating my point about your fans. As Bill Self said, Adidas is only doing for us what Nike is doing for Duke & Kentucky. I’m sure that Coach K & Cal have no idea that any of this is going on LOL. Are you THAT naive or not very smart? The next two corruption trials will be interesting. We will see what happens. Cal will come out unscathed because he always does. He keeps rolling on while the schools take the punishment. Ask UMass & Memphis. No, I can’t give you an example of impropriety but don’t insult my intelligence by acting like he is Mr. Clean. I can assure you that if anything does come out, Cal will be on his way to the broadcast booth.

Dude get a hobby. You sound like an idiot

No need to prove anything to those who haven't done anything tangible for the university.

Do you also understand they were drawing up X's & O's for professional players. There is a big chasm between teaching HS/college kids and drawing up plays for a professional........If it were me I wouldn't let my drawers get in a wad over Penny as a coach........you better give him a chance to earn his stripes first.......
