Most of the players at Memphis only professional career will be over seas (if there)...........OH BOY!
Has he underachieved? 4 final fours, 2 elite eight's & a national title is hardly underachieving. Very grateful that the great Coach K has had all the elite talent the last 3 seasons & has done nothing with it. It kind of busts up all the theories that if that great coaches were getting the talent Cal was getting they'd win the title every year. Coach K has had elite talent with returning talent & has failed to make the final 4 with arguably 2 of the most talented rosters of all time......or at least that's what was said. Same with IZZO. He sucked with the best freshman class he's ever had.
It takes a special coach to take almost a new team every season & get these super young teams to be clicking by March. He's proven.....it's more than rolling out the balls. I thank Coach K, Izzo, & Pastner for illustrating that for us. Now Penny will reinforce it. Thanks Penny
oh, Cal's great...we were lucky to have him for 9 years. That said, he left Memphis on probation and took committed players...that's not kosher IMHO

It is possible that Wideman is going the Gleague route.
A JR Richardson is all but assured. Most likely coupled with a JR Washington. So no worries on interior players.
I'd say lying about being a teacher and then posting a slightly larger vocabulary here (after you've learned placement and meaning of said words) doesn't make you come off as a "scholarly" type but rather a person in need of attention. School's out son.
Wasn't it like 6 months ago that DJ decommited and Wiseman said that has no impact on him. Did you just get back in the country?

To reach the final four again this year then it would be a perfect example of how hard it is with young talent.
The talent from tatums year, last year and this year is insane. If he has no final fours to show for it that would be awesome.

I guess that is why they are at Memphis and not a head coach somewhere else.
He is burning up the recruiting trail. He has recruited the number 21 point guard (132 player nationally), the number 27 point guard ( 159 nationally), the number 9 power forward (47 nationally), the number 21 shooting guard (106 nationally) and the number 28 power forward (120 nationally). He has only one player ranked in the top 100 nationally. Wow. That should be a national championship in the waiting. He better get Wiseman. I bet Cal is shaking in his boots.

No...not at all
Larry did ignore his health (he had Diabetes) and it lead to a sad end for him...had a stroke and leg amputation before dying a few years back. He should have retired and focused on his health
I think I'll write a song dedicated in your honor on my next folk guitar album. The song will be called, "Take me back to the slums of Memphis."

For second time, Cal didn’t leave you on probation, Rose did. As for the committed player in Cousins! He has already said that he didn’t commit to Memphis. He committed to play for Cal!
I like how their mid-major program is still exhibiting butthurt a decade later.

The Metro was pretty brutal back then (if memory serves). I recall a lot of fighting between those schools when they played each other.
I remember working at a restaurant when I was like 16 years old and Virginia Tech's team came in to eat. I was a big fan of Ace Custis and he gave me his autograph. . Unfortunately a few days later he was unable to play against U6. He had food poisoning. :flushed: Great guy though.
Sure worked out great for Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullin...NOT!! And those two had way better NBA careers then Penny did.
You can throw Clyde Drexler, Johnny Dawkins, Isiah Thomas, and to a lesser extent, Avery Johnson, into that mix.

Weeks/months ago when Jeffries was a UK commit, the rumors were how he and Wiseman were good friends and it was good for us. What made the change to them not being good friends any longer?

and the sad thing is Larry's best squad was probably his first at Memphis St but they were on NCAA probation from Dana Kirk...Larry's 1987 squad finished 26-8 and beat Louisville to win the Metro conference.
