My Family has been Season Ticket holders for years and we didn't renew them a couple years ago mainly because the schedule doesn't really give you many Prime home games. To me it wasn't worth the total cost with every game being on TV now for the most part. I live 2.5 hours round trip from Rupp and unless it is a great game and I have decent seats I would rather watch from the comforts of my own home on a large HD TV.

Take out a couple rows, add backs to the seats in upper deck. With technology today, it's more comfortable to stay home and hear what's going on! RUPP during the 90's was not only entertaining, but a social event, made mad bank in that lobby bar. It was the who's who of lexington society, politicians, and of course the horse industry. Tapered off I the early 2000's, with exception of few games..UNC Fla and Maryland come to mind, but those two decades are hazy for me, purple if ya know what I mean. A lil blueberry too, but that came much later

$75? False. Not for upper seats.

I don't know the actual cost but I believe $45 or something like that is the going rate for mediocre opponents. I believe it goes up for a number of SEC games. I still wouldn't pay $90 for a pair to sit up top against pretty much anyone.

$53 is the upper price. Was $30 a couple years back. Also have the Kfund on some. Looks like UK will be begging for the loyal blue hair fans in a few years when it comes time for our younger fans to step up and fill the arena. Don't see that happening.

So the attendance was 22,100 for a Wednesday night game against a middling opponent while half the state is still dealing with the aftermath of serious flooding. I personally know people in the northern part of the state who attend most games but were way too distracted by damage to their homes from floods. This feels like one of those fill-a-vacuum *****-fests for the Web Media Blogocracy.

You might want to have kids one day...Be careful with that.

Rupp is a ********. If I were a UK fan I would like to see a newer arena at about 18,000 capacity. Why keep Rupp? There is absolutely nothing unique about it. I went last year for the first time with a UK friend and my first impression was "Why is there a f****** Arbys and giftshops connected" lol

Go to a game and you can buy tickets on the street for $20. Alot of the times you can buy lower level tickets for that much (unless we are playing Kansas, Florida, UL,UNC, etc. see that; the t goes before the c people). People that complain about Rupp being empty but that don't go themselves confuse me. Rupp is full of people from throughout the Commonwealth, not just people that live in Lexington. To say I live 2 hours away and can't make it doesn't resonate with the people from Pikeville that take off early on gameday to get there. I've never been to a game, even when I had season tickets, that you couldn't buy a ticket outside for $20.

And smart phones make it that much easier.

I don't complain about attendance but I'm not dealing with scalpers just on principle . I hate the parasites and love to see them lose their *** on an unsold ticket . They will never get a penny of my money ,

A lot has changed now that everyone has the internet on their phone.

Scalpers are competing with mr. Everyman who can’t go to the game and lists his tickets online, as well.

It’s still a little obnoxious if scalpers get handed all the tickets to a major event before the public gets a real shot, but in general, tickets are available for virtually every event and are easier to obtain (and often times cheaper) than they have ever been.

I still remember my dad paying long-distance to order Reds tickets and not having any idea what was available until he spoke with a ticket agent. Fun times.

And there is the key. The games aren’t very good.

If I was in your same situation, I would save money and attend NCAA tourney games.

Maybe you would drive an hour or two away with no tickets in hand hoping to get some cheap ones, but most people probably won't go without tickets in hand. Unless you can settle for more expensive ones if there are no cheap tickets on the streets, that is a terrible strategy to use to save money with no guarantee and already out the cost of gas.

.

That’s what the smart phone is for. You gauge price and availability before you leave and get a feel for what you are willing to pay. If you don’t have a good feeling, you stay home.

I’m not a fan of handing money to strangers in the street, but the Internet is your friend. Tons of information at your fingertips.

upper section of rupp sucks pretty bad. student tickets use to be 5 bucks, I think they just upped them to 10. for 70 bucks you ought to get a chair back but at 20 or 30 bucks they can could justify the shiftiness of those seats. They would get alot of last minute purchases if they would slash the prices. plus parking is a nightmare, dealing with downtown is a nightmare(especially for those who don't live or have never lived in lexington). at 70 bucks for this game is more of a deterrent

I didn't either and someone else said $10. In your previous post you said they were "WAY too high priced". Ten buck doesn't seem that high to me. I bet those kids who claim that is too high will go to one of the bars and drink a lot more than $10 in beer on a typical night.
Student attendance is down everywhere. Why students aren’t coming is a whole different subject IMO. Still, if those tickets were reasonably priced the general public would buy them up. I only made one game this year and the reason is simple - the prices for the games that are worth driving to Lexington to see are just too damn high. I can’t afford it anymore. I highly, highly doubt I’m the only one in that position.

I agree the regular seats are too high.

UK student body is the weakest it's ever been. Cut the football and basketball allocations and sell those tickets at $20 to the general public

We used to get Cottons seats every year, but we stopped 4-5 years ago. I think a lot of people feel like that.

They were great seats, but it’s just crazy expensive and you are really just buying them for access to the 3-4 big home games we have a year. For $10k-ish all in, that means you’re spending an average of like $300 a ticket to have the full season. Better to just shell out a couple grand and have ultra premiums to the few games you actually want to watch.

Plus with season tix you are always scrambling to try and sell/get rid of tickets to piss poor games for like 1/10th of what you paid for them.

For students it’s a little different but I know when I was in college I’d like to actually be able to see the game and drink a beer while doing so. What’s the appeal of sitting upper deck nose bleed when your buddies are likely having a watch party, with booze, on a great big HDTV?
