Couldn't agree more with everyone. I've been lucky because of where a family member worked. Got to sit on the floor and in lower for a few games a year for many moons. Don't anymore, they retired. But I'm spoiled , if it ain't lower, I ain't going.

Maybe first 10 in upper if a big big game

I'd like to see a comparison of ticket prices in the rafters at the top college basketball universities. You would have to also list capacity and type of seats to be able to adjust to seat worth. For instance, it might cost more at places with less and better seats.

Probably to late to really do an accurate comparison this late in the season. I did find this from the 2016 season. It lists the average cost per ticket so it isn't quite what I was looking for, but it still shows how expensive it is overall. These are the biggest names from that year to go along with historically good teams prices.
  1. Duke $198 (very limited seating)
  2. UK $167
  3. KU $135
  4. UNC $132
  5. Villanova $91
  6. IU $65
  7. Arizona $58
  8. Virginia $57
  9. UL $52
  10. WVU $50
  11. Mich St $36
So we have the 2nd most expensive tickets with the most seating. Doesn't seem right to me. Over $30 more per ticket on average to comparable programs. I am not going to compare us to Duke with less than 10k seats. Plus they probably have ridiculous prices for the UNC game that will skew it even further.

Go to a game and you can buy tickets on the street for $20. Alot of the times you can buy lower level tickets for that much (unless we are playing Kansas, Florida, UL,UNC, etc. see that; the t goes before the c people). People that complain about Rupp being empty but that don't go themselves confuse me. Rupp is full of people from throughout the Commonwealth, not just people that live in Lexington. To say I live 2 hours away and can't make it doesn't resonate with the people from Pikeville that take off early on gameday to get there. I've never been to a game, even when I had season tickets, that you couldn't buy a ticket outside for $20.

Wow that’s pretty telling . What UK athletics is now facing is what Economist call elasticity of demand . Ticket prices for upper s really should be adjusted downward and/or student tickets should be free again with a free hot dog and cola. They would have to have ticket one week out but they should be free.

Also students should be able to use their meal card at games . It is inexcusable to not fill up the gold standard ‘s arena for every game .

Btw on the subject of Blue Hairs I watched the lower level crowd tonight and lot of young and middle aged people .

Maybe you would drive an hour or two away with no tickets in hand hoping to get some cheap ones, but most people probably won't go without tickets in hand. Unless you can settle for more expensive ones if there are no cheap tickets on the streets, that is a terrible strategy to use to save money with no guarantee and already out the cost of gas.

Me personally, I don't go anymore unless I get free tickets or can luck into lower arena seats (only happened once and it was Big Blue Madness). My back can't hold up to the bleachers and I won't put myself through that for $40+ a ticket (on the low side).

Students cannot be without internet service for two hours. Rupp desperately needs to improve the ability for Millennials to stay on line. I am sure many people on this site have millennials or younger as kids and they almost break out in a rash if you take their phones way for like 30 seconds...

I don’t know how it’s been this season but I’ve been to many, many UK basketball games where you couldn’t buy tickets outside for $20. Even the crap games if they’re on a weekend.

Unless we are top ten, or have future top 5 draft pick, you won't see a full house against the basement dweller of the SEC. Fans are fickle. Remember when a pair of upper arena tickets would easily go for 150-200
I think that times have changed. People are more about looking on their phonescreens rather than interacting with other people. The continual attack on athletics, scandal and identity politics make the common Joe less likely to leave their bubbles in fear of offending someone, being offended, or God forbid, being shot. Fear and terror is everywhere now. Before as a society we wouldn't let it affect us. But within the past two years, you can be accosted for wearing a hat, be called a murderer for how you feel about guns or birth control. The way there media is constantly trying to divide people based on belief system, religious affiliation, economic status, and morality. Continual attacks on government and family. Before you know it, we lose all of our freedoms. Easier to conquer a divided foe. Sorry for the rant. Started typing and well you know.

I went last night and had lower seats that face value was $63 per. I know that didn't include the KFund cost but still no way those uppers were $75. To each their own on upper level but I wouldn't sit up there for free, I'd rather watch on TV. Upper level sucks....

I didn’t price them last night. They were $77 on Ticketmaster for Alabama and Missouri. I’m 100% certain of that.

Last nights weeknight game vs ole miss were probably much less than Saturday night vs Missouri.

I don't remember having this problem in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Of course we didn't have 65 inch flat screens and every game was not on TV in some of those decades. But we did have Cawood and Ralph.

Times change. When we first got season tickets in 1960 a game was about $5.00 or less. Now we pay well over $4,000 a season and it goes up every year. I haven't gone to a game in about 5 years but there is no way I give them up after all of these years.

I don't complain about attendance but I'm not dealing with scalpers just on principle . I hate the parasites and love to see them lose their *** on an unsold ticket . They will never get a penny of my money ,

At least we no longer have to worry about reducing capacity when the badly need chair backs are installed before next season. Then maybe change 35 to keep the price where it was ten years ago considering inflation .

I was surprised to learn that upper seats like that at many NBA games go for as little as 12 dollars . They make their money with the lower levels and suits and just want to fill up the place for enthusiasm wth the uppers rather than look bad like our attendance did tonight . Sr night against an SAC opponent for gods sake .

If we are talking economics, please explain why UK should reduce the price?
The rest of the Upper Arena sells out @ $75 and more.
And it was NOT Senior night and it WAS Ole Miss (last place).

Also: NBA teams play 41 home games, most of which are sleepers. They can't give the tickets away in Charlotte on week nights vs Denver, etc.

If you're paying face value for that ticket and you're not a season ticket holder, you're doing it wrong. SeatGeek had those seats listed around $34 a week ago.

You are 100% correct... If you wanna say you've been to a game then, up there, will let you check the box... But if you wanna see a game?

Football is the only sport that's decent from high but if you've ever sat high at Neyland??? That ain't no good either. I was second row from top and the folks behind me had wings and halo's .........

In the same way lots of people are cutting the cord, the age of options means you can't sell us the same overpriced inferior product anymore.

For the cost of going to 3 games with seats that aren't outside on the roof, arriving at home around 11 central on a work night with a 6:00 tip time (assuming you don't eat after the game since you didn't have time to eat before if you left from work to get to Lexington) I bought a 70" TV and can watch the second half on a 60" TV in my own bed.

All with unlimited food, drink, legroom, no bathroom lines, and no gigantic person taking up 75% of your seat.

So on a night where the atmosphere isn't worth it, there are going to be some empty seats. Because that's all the live experience can offer that is superior at this point.
