* I like Chris Mack, Marshall can go get pumped and I'm afraid he would do good things at UL, Cronin is a piece of **** and I think is extremely overrated. I hate him. Perfect for the UL job, IMO.
* Pretty crazy sitch here at work last week.
Last Friday as my boss and I were driving up to Detroit, I got a call from our office manager. The office was locked down and there were armed police charging down the hall.
There is a small financial company right across the hall from us. One of their employees, a 30-35ish lawyer who I saw every day, snapped and demanded $250k or else he was going to release damaging emails to their clients. He had a loaded handgun.
The lady he was threatening managed to bolt to our office when he was distracted. She called 911.
The police evacuated the lower floors and told my coworkers to stay inside and not let anyone in or out. (Our office is locked and you have to have an electronic card to get in/out.)
They arrested the dude before he was able to leave with a bunch of files. He had already taken his loaded handgun off and put it on a table when he saw them coming, but they slammed him around anyway, just for fun. When they searched his car they found a loaded shotgun, a machete and a lot of extra ammo.
I happened to walk past him that morning when I got to work and had a brief convo with him. It was weird that he parked in the visitor parking and even weirder that he actually made smalltalk with me. He never talked, even when I said hello in the hallway, it was always 1-word answers. That morning he said hello, talked about all the rain and told me to have a nice day, yada yada yada. Instead of going up the elevator with me, he plopped down on a couch in the lobby of our building. Again... unusual.
Ironically enough, I had nicknamed him "Lee Harvey" about 8 years ago because of the way he marched up and down the hallway staring straight ahead. He just had that look, like was "off" somehow. He seemed like the type who could go on a shooting spree.
Thank God it didn't get that far.
