Fortunately this is a year where seeding won't seem to matter. Everyone is losing games they probably shouldn't and there is no dominant team. We know we'll get put in the toughest region with a seeding one to two spots higher than we should. This year it doesn't seem to matter as much.

If Virginia is the team some are afraid to play then I think we’re in good shape.

I'm not surprised UK isn't higher. Pollsters rarely give UK the benefit of the doubt. Half of them likely didn't pay much attention to how UK played last week.

I don't really care what the polls say. I know what I'm seeing and this team is finally clicking and finding its identity. If they keep playing this way, these pollsters will have no choice but to acknowledge it.

Just keep winning baby!

It's common sense. We are a team that makes a living from penetration into the post. In the pack-line defense, where off-ball man-to-man defenders are 6-9 feet away from their assignment, daring the ball handler to drive, with help defenders waiting for the steal....you have to make jumpshots. It's a not a question of their size, their skill, their athleticism...only their style of play. They are built to beat driving offenses.

Only chance we have in that game is by turning them over on offense and scoring a ton of transition buckets....or make a lot of 3's.

#23 is right where we should be. We're only two weeks out from a 4 game skid and getting crushed at College Station. We're playing much better, but we're the highest ranked team with 9 losses.

We're fine.

23 is about right. We’ve lost 9 games and our best win is against an 8 loss WVU team.

The good news is we suddenly look like a team that is capable.

I am very cautiously optimistic, and I’m not trying to be that guy that takes a dump in the tailgate chili, but some of you need to just step back a bit.

This team looked so awful for at least a month that any win would have excited us, but if you really look at the sudden three game winning streak, and break down each opponent, well, maybe we should hold off on booking that flight to San Antonio.

Alabama...definitely have looked great times, but as of right now, they may be NIT bound.

@ Arkansas....definitely impressive second half performance, but Arkansas is probably at best an 8-9 seed in the tournament.

Missouri...again, the Cats were impressive, but the Tigers aren’t exactly locks to even get in the Dance. They have two 50/50 games remaining, and they probably need both.
@ Vandy......home against Arkansas in a bitter rivalry game.
Yeah, but then look at Villanova losing at Creighton, Duke didn't exactly manhandle a very bad Syracuse team and Michigan State really struggled with 14-16 Wisconsin yesterday.

It’s hard to win on the road. The main thing is the team is on a good roll. We’ll find out soon enough if it’s for real, or just fools gold.

UK could struggle to score 40 against UVA. I would prefer no part of them.

We can’t beat them but Virginia Tech surely can.

I’ll give you a pre-1964 quarter if Virginia makes it to the Elite Eight.

I like the way you think! It would look good to the committee if the boys was on a 8-9 game winning streak

Said a couple days ago we probably deserved 18th. but they way they do polls we would be 23-24th. St. Marys plays no one and din't help themselves in non conf.. Biggest were Wash St and Georgia and they loss both. They got beat by freakin San Fran, that should drop you out of the top 25 when you don't play anyone. They just look at losses being small, 4-5. It's a joke hence why their seeding is so bad. We just need to take care of business and get to 3 seed and get out of that 4-5 second rd game.

What I will say, is that Kentucky might possibly be a top10 team as we speak, and could find themselves morphing into a top5 team. That's what's so interesting about Kentucky over the last decade. Freshman struggling hard at first, but when they figure it out, there's no telling how good they could be.

.. at the same time, they could be a toop40 team where the last few wins were flukey.. but I tend to not bet against Cal come March. This team will continue to rise.

VA Tech is a shooting team. They don't live and die by driving the ball like we do. They made 11 threes against Virginia. We are better than VA Tech, but when you consider style of play contrasts, the most talented teams don't always win. So it's not at all unreasonable that VA Tech has a better chance to beat UVA than us.

On the flipside, the same concept applies to us destroying UofL while VA Tech loses to them on their home court.

#10 to #13? Keep in mind the week before they lost at home to Oklahoma St.

And how much did they rise after cheating WVU the next week.

Now objectively tell me UK or another team would do the same.
They fell from #7 to #10 the week they got beat by Okie State. They went from #13 to #8 the week they won @ Iowa State and vs. WVU.

As for UK, when we won at WVU & vs. MSU, we went from unranked (29th in votes received) to #21. We technically made a bigger jump than KU did.

We then dropped from #21 to #24 when we won vs Vandy in OT and lost @ Mizzou. Same drop as KU.

So, you tell me, what's the difference?

We’ve still lost 4 of 7. We are playing a hell of a lot better than 23rd but finish off the season and I think we jump a lot.

What I find laughable is how Creighton is 20-9 and ranked 24th in the USA Today Poll and We have the same record and are ranked 25th. How the hell can they possibly put Creighton with the exact record we have ahead of us? I know it’s not the AP poll but it is the next most recognized one, that blows my mind and shows pure Media bias.

Considering it's not the media that votes in that pool, I'd say it's not media bias.

Am i looking at the wrong polls? West Virginia beat TT and didn't move. Duke lost and didn't move...I see KY at 23 but I must be looking at something wrong. I am just glad we made it back in the top 25, as long as we play like we have been and I think we will. We will move up drastically by the time brackets come out. We win the rest of our games and the SEC tournament, I'm thinking three seed. With the way we are playing now I think it's pretty plausible. As long as our guys stay hungry, then we are fine. This next game will tell us if we have officially turned the corner. If they come out and start playing lazy, then we know we have an issue. Which they are young, so it's possible they do because they feel like they have proved themselves. However, I think they just keep getting better and I think we should just all sit back and enjoy the ride.

Media bias is the perception of teams given to the public. I’m not a moron I know the USA Today poll is voted on by a panel of coaches. My point being the media hyped the teams they want and give that perception to hose who don’t watch every game on who is good and who is not. Since day one this year all they have talked about is this UK team isn’t talented like in years past, and downplayed ya to no end. So yes media bias plays a huge role.

Let's just take care of business. ONE game at a time.

That being said, if we can rattle off the next 5 (last two reg. season, and win the SEC Tourney) and in convincing fashion? We become the team NO one wants to play.

That UF game is going to be rocking now. And we better come ready to play. Florida will have no greater pleasure than to end our little run here.

I’m pretty sure the polls came out yesterday afternoon before the Monday night games. Which is why we won’t see the difference until this coming Monday after our Florida game.

I guess the question I have, is for a good portion of the season, was the media wrong in that we weren't that good?

this team is getting hot at the right time. we will be a bad draw for any of the top seeds in the tourney. only one that i don't think we can beat is virginia.

I actually think we match up well with Virginia. They play great defense, but have to because they don't score so much. I could be wrong, but hopefully we get a chance to find out because we would probably have to win a few games to get a shot at them.

This message board two weeks ago:

"This is the worst UK team ever".
"We don't deserve an NCAA tourney bid".
"We'll lose our first NIT game".
"Fire Cal!"

Three games later:

"The media is disrespecting us".
"We should be ranked higher".
"Nobody wants to see us in their bracket".
"Cal is a genius".
