And? is that a bad thing?Another guard...
Another guard...
Anyone think he's as good as Benedict Kennard or is this a wait and see approach? I'm just fearing jon hood 2.0

If Simons comes to UK I would be surprised to see Quade hang around especially if the transfer rule goes immediately into effect. I think Simons and Quickly would be great together plus Herro Baker and Johnson all G/SF. Green may be the worse defender of them all.
Again, simply my opinion, but yes I think Cal might be pulling a "Capel" on Rat Face with EJ. Remember, Cal has been in contact with EJ for over a month and I heard Cal and Co feel really good about their recruitment of him. With that said EJ's dad hardly mentioned UK in his interview. If you follow recruiting you know that has smoke screen written all over it.
Cal's competitive and has to be tired of dUKe's recruiting strategy. I truly believe that while Cal isn't the greatest X's and O's coach (just my opinion and not going to argue over this), he is in fact THE BEST at getting the most out of players and helping them become servant leaders/real men, he is in fact great at building them up in practice, and is in fact THE BEST recruiter in college basketball. With that said, "THE BEST" doesn't just roll over when they're challenged, but instead they fight like a SOB to regain their title. In the end, I think Cal fills our remaining two scholly's with two of the following players; EJ, Anfernee, James, or Romeo. At this point that's no big surprise, except Romeo, who I think is the Alpha Dog in this class that's still on the table and wide open in his recruitment. Go Big Blue!!!
He isn't going to leave because he wants to . His family is in dire straights . I just hope he does what is best for him.
He's tall? He can dunk? He's got guard skills for a 6'11 guy?
I hope that’s true. Ben said “don’t be suprised” but didn’t seem like it was a sure thing — then KSR ran with it. Even if SGA goes — wed be loaded at the 1 & 2 spots so not sure where he’d fit in..
Like you i keep reading about his family being in "Dire straits". Like you i want to hear this from Gabriel. Did I not read somewhere that he has had brother & sister already graduate from other schools ?Dire straits? Has Gabriel said / quoted or given an interview saying his family is in dire straits ? Honestly curious
Prove it
Well sorry you guys had to wait almost 2.5 months, but today I'm happy that you, Cindog28 and STEVECAT got the proof you wanted regarding the recruitment of EJ Montgomery. Please note guys/gals that this post is in jest and not malicious in nature, as I don't condone cat on cat crime. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
On a serious note, I don't like the fact that multiple UK friendly sites are acting like dUKe conceded EJ to us and "no longer wanted him anymore." As mentioned in my original post, Cal and Co always felt like EJ was our's to lose and dUKe was just being strung along for the ride like several eventual dUKe commits have done to us in the past. Why it doesn't surprise me that dUKe fans are playing it off like their program didn't really want EJ anymore, even though I can link multiple quotes of dUKe commits saying that EJ was the final piece of their supposed "Super Class," it does baffle me that some UK-friendly blog writers are buying into those claims. I really wish some of BBN would quit worrying so much about dUKe and focus on the unprecedented ride that Coach Cal continues to take us on. Unfortunately, this ride will eventually end and at that time a lot of poor souls within the BBN will realize that the grass isn't greener on the other side.
To shed some insight into SKJ's recent transfer, I'm hearing that it wasn't necessarily due to him being afraid of losing playing time to EJ at the 5, but more so having an understanding of how EJ's recruitment would now put him behind PJ at the 4 and no longer Richards at the 5. Remember I initially claimed that I heard that Cal's supposed pitch to EJ was that he'd share time with Richards at the 5 and that SKJ would be moved back to his natural position at the 4? Well, from what I'm hearing SKJ felt he could beat out Richards for pt at the 5, but didn't feel as sure of himself in regards to beating PJ for pt at the 4. What's important to note in all this isn't the reason why SKJ is transferring, but if what I'm hearing is true it tells us that everyone in our program truly does have the understanding that PJ is without a doubt returning next season and only using the combine to get constructive criticism from NBA scouts.
Again, take it all with a grain of salt as I don't claim to have "insider info" and what I hear typically comes from current students/staff on UK's campus, so if you're going to need proof please wait about 2-3 months and I'll see what I can do. [winking] Go Big Blue!!!

Someone was money. In the coming weeks UK will extend an offer to 5* Burger Boy EJ Montgomery from Marietta, Georgia. Montgomery currently stands at 6'11" and 215 pounds, although recruiting websites list him having smaller measurements in both areas. Montgomery is listed as a PF, but I've been told he's being pitched the possibility of splitting time at the 5 with Richards, assuming Richards returns. Montgomery doesn't see himself as a one and done type player and relishes the idea of being able to get a decent amount of PT as a freshman w/o having to be "the man." For his size Montgomery has good handles, decent court vision/passing capabilities for a player his size, and great off ball movement which can be attributed to a high basketball IQ. With that said, although coming in late the UK staff feels good about their chances and have actually been in contact with Montgomery longer than most think. Go Big Blue!!!
Thanks for sharing! Everything and anything I take with a grain of salt unless you are Zion teammate, or play pickup basketball on campus with UK staff, or drive an Uber specifically UK players only...losing SGA hurts, I'll miss his play and poise...but blow was definitely softened by early am commitment of EJ.Well sorry you guys had to wait almost 2.5 months, but today I'm happy that you, Cindog28 and STEVECAT got the proof you wanted regarding the recruitment of EJ Montgomery.
