Could Kentucky still win it all without Vanderbilt?

Color me negative, but I don't think Cal will ever win another title here.
It's hard to say.

First thing is we don't know how many more years he'll be. If it's just until Brads senior season, that's just two more years not counting this season. So, that's just 3 years to win another title. And with Duke continuing to stock pile insane talent every year, it's going to be tough to win another one.

Maybe Cal stays longer, who knows. What I do know, if he's going to win another championship, he's not going to do it with all freshman.

Since only 1 team wins the NC each year, the math favors your negative conclusion being right. But since UK has already won 8 NCs, and since Calipari recruits 1 of the top classes in the country every year, I suspect he will win at least 1 more while he is here. At the moment, some of our fans (not saying you necessarily) are so envious and preoccupied with Bagley, Barrett, Krzyzewski that they can't remember Anthony Davis, Karl Towns. Bagley and Barrett are 2 guys. If Eisenhower thought that way, he would not have invaded Normandy. I like the nucleus Calipari is building now.

I don’t think you understand what I am saying. I am saying that Cal would much rather have Bagley be ineligible and attend UK (and hence not play this year) than to be eligible but at a different school. That is, Cal would much rather not have to play against Bagley.
Bagley is a good player, but he is 1 guy. Bagley isn't Bill Walton or KAJ. On any night when Duke's perimeter shooters are cold, they can be beat. Since he got here, Calipari has recruited and coached at an elite level. It is very disappointing to see how quickly some fair weather fans throw Calipari under the bus because Bagley and Barrett reclassified and signed with Duke. Does anyone even remember what happened the last time a Calipari-coached UK basketball team played a Krzyzewski-coached Duke team? November 17, 2015. Look it up and learn from it.

So Cal in his 8 years here has had good enough teams to make 4 final fours but there's no way he wins another title with the way he recruits?

OK lol

Cal has a losing record in the final four, so history and odds says he don’t. Not with freshmen every year.

I don't see how the Commodores will affect our ability to win this year. We only play them twice. Sure, Vanderbilt usually plays us tough in Nashville, but that's no reason to give up on the entire year.

So your advice to Cal would be to spend his precious recruiting time going after players who will never play to keep Duke from getting them.

That is some "strategery" right there. The basic goal as a coach is to get players who will be able to play.

Yes. We are talking about the hands down best player in college already, and he’s only played a handful of games. There’s zero chance that Cal would rather him be on any other team than UK, regardless of eligibility concerns. If Cal stopped recruiting him then it was because Bagley told him to or that he is going to Duke. It had zero to do with eligibility concerns.

And the first goal of any coach is to win. Having to not go against Bagley makes the odds of winning much higher.

Also, still waiting for you to tell me how it would hurt UK for Bagley to come here and be declared ineligible.

I’m not criticizing Cal at all. I am simply pointing out that he would not stop recruiting Bagley even if he knew Bagley would not be declared eligible. Bagley is already the best player in college, and the only reason Duke doesn’t have several losses right now. And Cal would rather have him sitting on street clothes on the UK bench instead of on an opposing team’s bench.

You are assuming a lot. A number of other explanations seem much more likely.

My opinion doesn't have anything to do with math.

Nope...our PF play is very average. We need a shot in arm at PF spot.
I think just the opposite. They have too many power forwards. Too many good players that play the same position but play well. What they need is more balance in their offense. They have too many 4’s and not enough 3’s.

So Freshman are capable of making a final four but not capable of winning a title?

I'm sorry this logic just doesn't fly.

Listen Cal might not win another title, but it won't be that they are incapable to do so. It's just hard to win titles.

Lol u all must be smokin something. This is the worst Kentucky team since cal has been there. So bad cal wouldn’t even play in the pk80 but u think u can win it all.

Who you got TommyGoat?

What are you going to do when Ole coach K rolls on the floor in the Fetal position again?. Even better how you going to like Jeff Capel for a head coach? LOL

Nice way to debate.
Your posts are not debate worthy. You just throw some random statement out. Since Cals been here he has been in 2 finals in his 8 years. K has been in two the same amount of time. The difference is one poor possession and a bad call. Not to mention the othe two final fours that the Cats has a chance to the end. Do I️ was just doing what you asked and colored you negative. I was just using vomit as the paint.

I have. Wasting time recruiting a player who will be ineligible hurts the recruiting efforts for other players. Other players see that Bagley will be coming to UK so they will not commit to UK. UK has a bench sitter while other teams get actual basketball players.

This team is not going anywhere. People need to realize this is going to be a mediocre team at best. They would need two years together to learn everything they need to even come close. As soon as we get into the meat of the schedule you’re going to see just how vulnerable they are. I’d be highly surprised they make it out of the first weekend.

Just out of curiosity, why is Vanderbilt supposed to save the season? Wasn't he ranked below the bigs we have now?
Really curious?

No, he was ranked 14th overall by Rivals. Our second highest rated recruit after Kevin Knox.

We are 7-1 and our lone loss came by a mere 4 points.
He doesn't have to be a savior. He just needs to be another contributor to a contending team.

And he will be.
