Who wants to bet me Duke is going 40-0? I'll put a 1,000 down for every 100 dollars you morons wanna spend.

Duke is very good inside, they have a major weakness on the perimeter though stopping dribble penetration and making jump shots outside of Allen. Poor Bagley has now had to beat Florida, Texas and Indiana for them by himself, K is going to play his fortunate hand to death before March ever rolls around..

Given their remaining schedule, Duke has about a 0.2% chance.
You'd probably have to pay out alot more than 1000 for every 100 for anyone to take that bet lol

Major weakness? Allen was like Monk earlier this year but is playing more team oriented with Bagley and Carter. This team is structured much like our KAT team with a bit less experience. Bagley is s monster but is he clearing out? How is he able to stand under the basket and get these dunks or put back dunks so easily?

Texas, IU and Portland State are all either mediocre or just flat out bad teams and Duke needed some serious help to beat all three.

Any decent team that can actually get the officials to call a fair game down the stretch has a chance against them.

That's the big thing though. Coach K gets more respect from officials than any one in any sport. It's a bit much to say the least. He's done more to hurt the sport than any one or any group of people in history. And yet the media still portrays him as beyond reproach.

Plus Florida didn't even have their starting center. The Duke win over Mich St. was a great win, but Allen had the game of his life.

Yeah. Sadly if they win the ACC now they're almost assured the #1 overall because Michgan State and Florida are both favorites to win their conference. Kansas will get #1 again as well but they've played a really soft OOC schedule this year.

Yeah, Duke is in the drivers seat now for sure. It is a given they will get a gift draw, just have to hope they blow it in the tourney like last year.

Honestly they didn't blow anything in the tourney last year. They were never that good. They were never really on par with any of the other actual title contenders. The media propped them up and they just got exposed by the first decent team they played and when they didn't get the calls they predictably folded.

Their team this year has more structure and more top end talent. Carter, Trent Jr and Bagley would all start for nearly any team in America. Possibly Allen too. I'm not overly impressed with Duvall.

They remind me a bit of our last title team but don't defend as well and I think Teague was a better point guard than people realized. I don't think coach K can get them to defend they way they need to in one season. You have to have at least one really good perimeter defender to win the ship typically and another guy that's solid. They just don't have that.

Plus Duke didn’t have Bagley vs Michigan State after that early eye injury. (works both ways)

I'd do 100 against your 1000 if we can verify all parties will pay off. (In US dollars) I get that duke will NOT go 40 and 0...

Duke really could go undefeated. But maybe my Purple Aces will knock them off right before Christmas :).

I hope they can just make it respectable...Taylor is out. Dru's gonna have to step up his game and not foul out. Maybe the big Lithuainian can hold his own against Bagley...

BTW kudos to IU for staying in the game and making it interesting. I've only semi-cheered for IU twice, last night and when they played Syracuse.....in 1987

I'd bet 5,000 against your 50,000 all day anyday. Not a chance Duke goes undefeated.

UK in 2015 had the biggest adjusted efficiency margin in the history of Kenpom and they weren't able to go undefeated. They were at a
+36.91 margin, unrivaled all time.

We're currently at +25.35, which is 7th in a down year according to kenpom. Normally that margin would be 10th spot.

This 9-0 start is no different from our usual November dominance. What I have learned from 8 years of following kenpom is that Kenpom is great predictor for tournament success.

If you move Wisconsin to where they belong, they don't have the horses to stay with Kentucky in the final game. It also adds the pressure of "You're the last team to stop their perfection". Or even imagine if that Kentucky team had 7-seed MSU as their F4.. cakewalk.

Kentucky got no help that year on any front. They beat teams because of the platoon and talent depth. They wore teams out from the tip.

Duke will get the brackets (in part because of the ACC and seeding, as we discussed in a different thread) and they will get the calls, as everyone in college basketball knows. That goes a long way.

If Kentucky wore the Duke jersey in 2015, they would have gone 40-0, and you could have done another round of 64 the following day and they'd have made it 46-0.

40-0 is more attainable for some of these Kentucky teams than you'd think.. In 3 different seasons only 5 losses total.

People betting Duke to go undefeated should have the odds... I'm not sure what exactly (Does Vegas have this?).. but there's no way it should be the other way around. That's silly.

If I bet Duke to go undefeated, I want no less than 10:1 at this point. It's still very unlikely.

Duke won't go undefeated this year but I could picture Michigan State not losing again until deep in the tournament with the B1G a mess this year.

Duke is amazing in its ability to control the refs, the media; everything! Over the past month, the only place I read incessant infatuation about duke and it’s faborable officiating is here. Not one article in any major publication mentions that the refs had any impact, in fact some felt Carter fouled out on cheapies. Same with the orevuius four games. Which tells me eithe duke is more powerful than Trump and is Putinesque I It’s albioutu to control both the NCAA and the entire news media except Rupps Rafters or it tells me something else

Yeah, Kentucky fans are the only fan base that says Duke gets a favorable whistle. Righhhttt

You must live in that bubble like U6 fans

Must not have clicked on that Laetner link, right buddy?? Their own star player, the *** who stepped on our player on national TV, sez they get a favorable whistle. But then, with suck outstanding characters like Corrie Magette, Lance Thomas, and Gracie Allen, I can understand your need to defend them.

the only thing i don't understand about "duke gets all the calls" is, if they do, why don't they have more titles? '99, '02, '04? how do you rationalize K being omnipotent, yet mercer and lehigh? are only some of the refs in on it? why can't roy, cal, self, izzo and other coaches find the secret words that only K can admonish with? it doesn't add up......

Because bad or crooked officiating can help you win games but not all of them. Roy definitely gets the whistle too. You must have missed last year's tournament.
