I think Cal should do what's best for those kids future 1st and foremost, play zone when necessary. I'm blue through and through...but there is a reason kentucky players do well fairly quickly at the next level. Cal does right by those kids, and I appreciate that.

Go back and look at my 16000 post record. I will praise Cal and I love what he has done but he is not infallible or above criticism. He makes 10 million a year to win championships and he has the same number Hall Pitino and Tubby have. He is not a god. Some of you need to get over your man crush. One of his teams won a championship with the greatest player in the history of UK basketball. The team of Knight overachieved but then were better than the UConn team that beat them. I give him a pass for Noel’s injury. But the rest of his teams have underachieved.

So much easier for young players to defend an area rather than chase and fight over screens and switch. It won’t effect their draft status. If Cal doesn’t play a lot of zone with this team we will lose a lot of games. Most good threes come from inside out. It is hard to do that against the zone.

Comparing winning at Syracuse to UMASS. Hilarious. UMASS had made the NCAA tournament all of one time before Cal. They've made the NCAA tournament all of 3 times since Cal. Actually an extended zone defense can be very successful against good 3 point shooting teams. You just have to identify the shooters and close out fast.
