As my title says, I am not criticizing this team, but as an observation, we are just not very good, right now. They don't guard the 3, they can't stop straight line drives, and the offense is a little disjointed. I am confident that this bunch is so young, that they are going to be much improved by March, because I believe they are all good kids, and want to be coached, but as of today, we may be top 50. I look for KU to throttle us, on Tuesday. This team will benefit from Christmas break more than any other team that Cal has had. First, we should have Vanderbilt back, and then the unlimited practice time will be invaluable. Come tournament time, we will be a totally different team, but right now, we are going to take some lumps.

Can't disagree but this was to be expected with such a young team. I recall Al McGuire stating that you cannot teach team defense in three months, and that's a lot of what we're seeing. Given the length of this team I expect them to be a better defensive team come March.

Well i always said, this team will struggle.

When we think about all our freshmen players. They all struggle tremendously. There's been like 1 or 2 exception like Wall and Davis. Even Davis was limited early.

It just takes a LONG time for freshmen to truly understand precision they need on both end of the court.

This is a team that will get better. But there is no top 5 talent on this team. They are too young to compete for a title, and 9 years into Cal's tenure that's all anyone should care about.

Dukes Freshmen are on a different level than ours I'm afraid. They don't look like freshmen at all. Ours look timid, sloppy, confused. This year will test my patience and already has. They will improve, sure, but they aren't elite players at all. We need Vanderbilt in a bad way.

I think we'll play harder against Kansas than what we did today because we always do good against big name teams.

KU will beat us by 12-15 and we will see how they respond.

From what I have seen thus far, a 12-15 point loss to KU will actually be an achievement. This team has a long way to go and no doubt will be better come February and March but I don't see them being ready for a team like KU. It might get ugly on Tuesday night but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Cal's taken less talented teams to the Sweet Sixteen and beyond before (at UMass) but he's really going to have to coach his *** off to take this team deep into the NCAAT. Just so many holes, everything will have to go right for them to be a title contender by season's end.

This group hopefully turns in on mid-way during conference play.

But, we're gonna take some :Ls along the way. Anyone who thinks otherwise could be in for a rude awakening.

It was a veteran team, who is unranked, and not one of their players would be recruited by UK. I like the win, but it was against a mid-major, at Rupp, and we barely pulled it out. If you think we are good, now, then I'll wait for your post after Tuesday nite's game. If we win, I'll admit you are right, that we are currently good.

Give them time, and I say that as someone who will have a harder time accepting that than most.

You're watching a good bit of roster that just walked off of an AAU / high school gym floor. Cal wants youth, and he makes millions to get them ready. This is a pivotal season for him. They fail before the sweet 16 and he'll be forced forced to answer some
Tough questions. (Please save the hot seat talk).

This team was a huge fear of mine, from 2 years ago. 10-35 range kids, no upperclassman. The myth that you can win big with this kind of roster is close to false. Cal will most definitely earn his paycheck this season if it plays out positive. The weird thing is this team feels like it's capable of going deep. We might just need them to become "sophomores" and grow into march.

The recruitments of guys like Herro are proof to me that Cal understands there's got to be an adjustment. Cool down and ride the wave.

We just played a very skilled, well coached, experienced, and extremely confident team. I was impressed with Vermont. With the way they shot the ball we were lucky to win this game. Bell-Haynes is an outstanding PG.

I thought UK played ok today. Just a young team that has to learn how to win, just like most of Cals teams. Kansas does not scare me. Yes you can say that we will likely lose the game, but I think it'll be closer than most people think.

I'm really excited about this teams potential. You're definitely high if you think UK is one of the top 5 best teams in the country right now, but this group has a chance to get there. Every loss really sucks I won't lie about that, but I'm just going to be patient and enjoy the process with this team.

They look better for right now but almost all of Cal's teams have more difficulty adjusting to his system than others. Remember, we're playing without Vanderbilt who is a big loss.

Point 1 Just because a team is unranked does not mean they cannot win see Gardner Webb .
Point 2 I am certain one of their players will get a good look at the Nba
Point 3 Mid majors can beat you
point 4 If we had let WQ pull it all the way out women would have fainted .
Point 5 You can't spell we without my WEinie .
Point 6 I see a good team now not great but good enough .
Point 7 After Tuesday night comes Wednesday then Thursday then March madness let the whole season determine the sum of all the efforts .

Team looks just like I expected it to look.

They are lost on offense and defense.

They are relying on their athleticism to make plays.

They are so young, yet so talented.

They will continue to look disjointed throughout much of the season.

The ceiling is incredibly high for this bunch, but the question is how close will they get to the ceiling by March.

If guys return that should return, we are going to be deadly next season.
