Exactly, and I think it is because he also feels he will lose at least 5.
Richards, PJ, Knox, Diallo and one of Gabriel/Alexander.
I believe his goal is to get green one and done if it goes as planned.
I totally agree. In the end though I think we miss on GRimes and find another guard in the spring maybe thru grad transfer .I think our class will beI think Cal wants..

I know Cal said he plans on Quade being a OAD, but to be fair i think SGA is more likely to go at this point. Elite defensive potential, elite size of position, good pace of play.... if he proves he can score even a little and run a team, i could see him playing his way into 1st round.Making Green OAD is a hell of a project. For a prospective NBA player, the kid is well below average in every physical metric. His handles, shooting, and floor vision will need to be flawless (like Ulis) to make that jump. As a reference point, it took Ulis two years to go pro, and he didn't even get picked in the first round. And Tyler Ulis is the greatest fundamental basketball player I've ever seen at the college level.
Green has a steep climb ahead of him.

The one advantage Green has is that he will probably be starting from day one!Making Green OAD is a hell of a project. Brianpoe, just wait until november.... when everyone has had time to watch those two play. The talk about them possibly being one and done will end then.
Green’s barely 6’, a pass-first PG and doesn’t have blazing speed or athleticism. Only at UK would people consider him a OAD candidate.
Why do people think Green or SGA are OAD material?
Green doesn’t possess greet speed or athleticism for a small guard or dead eye shooting.
He wasn’t even ranked top 20 in high school this year...
I think the Ulis 2 year point made above is accurate.
People are going crazy over SGA, but why didn’t his size translate into a top 30 player in high school?
But he will be top 30 in the NBA draft in less than 12 months?
He most likely won’t even start on his college team.
Fans complain about players wanting to leave early but set expectations that no starters should or might be OADs.
I don’t get it.

I think it's just a reaction to the way most of Cal's PG's have been OAD. They think all of them will be. I think Green will be a likely 2-3 player, maybe even a 4 year kid.Why do people think Green or SGA are OAD material?

This is cal at Kentucky, who has recruited and now practiced these two point guards.
He is recruiting another batch of guards to come in next year.
I don’t think we are the crazy ones for thinking Alexander or green will go pro next year.
Those implying that PJ and Alexander will be OAD - on top of Richards, Knox, Diallo, and Vanderbilt - are not thinking through the process of how hard it is to make the first round. UK's not sending five guys to the first round next summer. Four is a stretch, let alone five or six.
Have you guys paid attention to the last 8 years with cal at uk?
He has re-written the handbook on Frosh being ready for the league after one year of college (not just getting drafted but as Pat Riley and Phil Jackson have said, Kentucky guys are ready when they come into the nba).
I happen to think PJ, Knox, Diallo, Richards will be first rounders and still a good chance we lose one of Gabriel/green/Alexander.
So yes I think we lose a minimum of 5.
And I also believe they will go get us #9.

These dudes are going to give us a fun ride all year and then ball out in March.
Cool story bro.Grimes measured 6'2-1/2" barefoot. That puts him at a little over 6'3 with shoes.

No you're not. [laughing]what happens to your recruiting when FBIputsbabyinthecorner ? i keed i keed
I don't think Green is a OAD. I do think SGA has a damn good shot. You can't teach a 7 foot wingspan playing PG. I thought he looked really impressive shooting the ball and defensively.
Meh, he very well might not be OAD. I just think he has a much better shot than that of Green. I never thought Booker or Daniel Orton would be OAD either. We will see.SGA might not even start.
I agree that measurables go along way with big men, see WCS. But guards? No so much.
Also, SGA is not close to the player Diallo is or near as explosive and he came back.
These are 3rd party measurements, not the UK combine (which has proven to be shaky at best).
SGA 6'6 and 6'10 1/2 wingspan 2017 Hoop Summit
Diallo 6'5 and 6'11 1/4 wingspan 2017 NBA Draft Combine
Diallo came back and unless SGA shows some really serious skills and beats out Green, how does he have a shot of being a true OAD? (which I consider as a 1st round pick)
I think its more of me thinking one is leaving vs him actually being ready. We continue to recruit back court players so ya gotta think someone leaves right? if we return Quade, SGA, and Baker, then bring in Quickley and say Grimes. 5 guys that talented and deep sounds hard to manage, not that Cal couldn't it just seems tough. I just see more physical gifts from SGA that would make NBA teams drool. Not that hes NBA ready, not that I want him to leave, but if its between him or Quade Id just think he'd be the one. Having said that, season hasn't even started yet, so I guess we'll have to see how things play out.Why do people think Green or SGA are OAD material?
