It sounded like he was upset with their bracket - getting into the same bracket with Nova, the overall #1 seed.

He should be. Nova's guards will have Gracie kicking and screaming before the first Tv timeout.

The irony about this is how Duke fans for years have complained about Bilas. He has always tended to take the pro-UNC stance, both with their teams and with their off the court problems. (He acted like a personal agent for PJ Hairston during his suspension.)

To be honest I've always kind of had a "yea right" thought at all the Bilas love here and elsewhere. Now all of a sudden he is sternly making a pro-Duke argument on something and he's immediately thrown away all this collateral and good will that he had built up.

I didn't care for him then or now.

Neue, Bilas has been sliding for a while now in the eyes of Cat fans. I think we always liked the fact that he tried not to favor Duke but then he started defending PJ, then UNC, then Grayson (who should have been suspended by the conference, IMO) and now he has this crusade to have Duke a one seed. He has lost ALL objectivity.

Admittedly, I haven't seen many Bilas threads as I didn't go looking for them (my bad). I just thought his whining was very telling. A confirmation of bias, if you will.

Second thing I have to admit is that I actually like listening to him (outside of ACC broadcasts and selection shows). Smart guy. Can't blame him too bad I guess for letting his fandom show. Just surprising how proactive he's been with it which has hurt my opinion of him (like he cares, of course).

His taking up for PJ Hairston in 2013 and his constant railing against the NCAA on things like the UNC scandal really put me off. I can overlook the UNC love in terms of praising their teams but I'm tired of the NCAA in his mind always being the bad guy when someone else maliciously cheats. I want him to say "this school cheated, it was dirty they should be punished." He'll never do that. Hairston obviously had more bad stuff around him than Jay even had a clue about because UNC wouldn't even reinstate the guy.

Haven't cared for him for a while. Many are coming around.

Bilas is actually one of the better analysts out there. The committee didn't do a great job. But then again the nature of their job, they will always get low approvals from fans.

This is a false statement that is made every year and it's a lazy way of looking at the bigger picture.

The committee gets he'll because their brackets always suck and they never have consistency. Some of the grief they catch is fully self inflicted. I don't want UK to be given a title, but evening out the bracket isn't that hard and they like to pretend it's rocket science. My two year old could use better logic spreading out the talent.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." For many, as long as Jay blasted the NCAA, they were Bilas fans.

Bilas never really called out the NCAA. He just used vague language and shouted with the masses. He never took actual positions against the most corrupt institutions and never asked anyone from the NCAA tough questions, which he could have at any time. "The NCAA needs reforming" is not earth shattering and isn't a real critique.

Hey - @morgousky - just for the record, my optimism won out over your realism and pessimism so far.

You ever see this team winning 11 straight?

You're welcome. [banana]

He seems to think he's always right. He also seems to think that only formers players\coaches should be on the committee because everybody else isn't worthy or smart enough to get it right.

He'd be a nightmare on the committee, telling all "non-basketball people" they don't know what they are talking about.

He's been throwing it away for the last 3 years. He just finally jumped the shark.

I figured it could go good or bad. Anything from a 3 seed to a 7 seed what my guess. They did better than I expected.

Still don't like where they are necessarily. Our inability to fully put people away at home this year really stands out to me.

Sorry. He's right. No reason for academics to take part in the discussion. As we see constantly they get in their own way like most brainiacs always do. Over think and over analyze.

We honestly aren't far off from KU, Nova, Duke.

We've shown a penchant to get into close games and pull most of them out.

Could bite us sooner than later, but it makes the tournament fun. Although being dominant is more fun.

If Bilas is the guy on the committee, I'll stick with what we have now.

Nothing would change with Duke. Easier draws yearly.

I do think he would actually even up the bracket better and uk would have better and more fair roads with bilas. The academics are awful as usual in Life.

So I guess the media should stop voting for the Heisman, Naismith, etc

And then the SOB's come out and lie about it. They lie about the criteria and lie about not setting up match ups

Actually yes. If real former athletes picked the trophys you'd see better and bigger differences. Absolutely.

What is it exactly about sports that makes non athletes feel they understand something they've never really experienced? You ever wanted your landscape crew to rebuild your 64 nova? How about your math teacher performing surgery? Let's get some production line workers the list of Pulitzer Prize nominees. Should be fine.

Unless you've played at a respectable level, you don't really understand the game like you might believe. but everyone things they're an expert by interpreting some vague data that means nothing in the end.

I wished I could have done better in school, attended UK, but if I had, and then became an analyst, I'd be pro UK ALL THE TIME! NO, Duke didn't even deserve a #2, but can you really blame a guy being a homer to his Alma mater?

I think we're missing his point. He argued Duke deserved the 1 over UNC, based on side-by-side comparison. That had nothing to do with other teams/seeds

after the bracket came out. Beforehand he was also pimping Duke for a 1 seed to a ridiculous degree
