I heard Matt Jones today say he believes it will.

Considering they haven't won one since I was trading my Swatch Watch for Duck Hunt, this would be a big deal. UL doesn't win titles often.

UL losing a title completely is almost as good as UK winning one. But I don't see it happening.

I hope it happens.

I'm not holding my breath. I'll believe it when I see it.

That would mean that also Pitino is back to offically only beating Calipari once at UK......but does that mean if they vacate 2012 year too that UK never beat them in the FF??? That would be sad :)

Didn't Duck Hunt come with every Nintendo?

It won't come down until after North Carolina's 1993, 2005, and 2009's banners do. NCAA does not want a vacated championship in their recordbooks. Ever.

Sensationalist BS. As much as we'd all love to see this happen, it wont. Matt's just making noise and giving the BBN something to talk about.

We all know the NCAA has no nuts.
I don't think he'd lie. I mean, it is his opinion, but i don't think he benefits one way or the other.

If I remember correctly, if the vacate a season it only takes away the wins. So the loss would still stand on their record

Low probability, but UL has as good a chance as anyone to win it this year.
They have already beaten Duke and UK, the Vegas favorites to win it all. The worst part is they should be the favorite to win it all in 2018 if everybody returns.

It would be justified but won't happen. They don't take away titles. Imagine the fallout - they'd be pushed to reopen Duke/Thomas, UCLA/Wooden, not to mention the two most recent UNC championships. Talk about a can of worms.

Pretty simple IMO,you use ineligible players from cheating to win a Championship then you lose the Championship and every game the ineligible players played in.In past years ago, they gave death penalties to SMU over similar cheating.
I have direct 2nd hand knowledge from a now deceased family member that UNC has been cheating and should lose every Title since Frank McGuire was coaching in the 50's,I would accept the NCAA doing the correct thing and taking away the past 30 years of provable offenses .
While many here seem to think the NCAA will only slap wrists,I for one believe they are going to hit both UL and UNC hard this time.

Taking titles from UL and UNC would completely rectify the issues , no other punishments would be needed . The titles were the end game for both cheaters and what they covet the most , erase the gains . By doing this you don't punish the current players who weren't involved , easiest problem ever to solve and if title stripping is in play then it will be a deterrent.

Well Matt Jones has no say in it so his opinion is as good as anyone who posts on this forum. I doubt the NCAA will make UL the first team to give up a banner but I wish they would. This is a kinder, more gentle NCAA committee than in years past. We have safe zones in college now and UNC and UL both appear to be in a safe zone.

But maybe justice will prevail. I can hope.

I don't think they will ever take a banner down for a title. UNCheat or Stripper U.

However, how in the world does a president or AD and Notre Dame not use this quote: "We will continue to acknowledge all seasons and wins the NCAA says we have to vacate until such a time as other institutions such as UNC and Louisville are punished."

Any school in trouble should refuse the punishment on those grounds.

And Jones is doing what modern day "reporters" do. Firing a shot gun over and over and over on guess and when he actually gets one right acts like he is Nostradomus. As many have said before me, "Even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes." Not a knock on Jones, it's just modern day "reporting".
