UL title banner coming down??

Damn, he has a talk radio show that you know, talk sports. He hates UL, and gave his opinion on what HE thinks will happen. They are several people in this very thread that have gave their opinions, what is the difference ? Damn people, lighten up. What is he suppose to talk about ? "Man I hope Louisville keeps the title and wins it again this year ." Now if he stated as fact, then I agree, but just giving a opinion (and he even said he does not have info), then it would be different.

The same people who say "people should get off Matt Jones nuts", need to take the knife out of his back. You let his show get to you waaaayyyy too much, you are worse than the *ick riders.

either ul or unc (maybe both) will have a title stripped

everyone in this thread was a virgin until the first time

By all rights it should be stripped (no pun intended), but even if it isn't, they've admitted to hiring the hoors and everyone knows the title isn't legit.

my take on this is - the bedrock of the NCAA is academics. Their whole world exists based on the foundation of academic integrity.

You can bring strippers, give the kids beer, drugs, pay them money and while I hate to say, look the other way on violence (looking at you Kansas) - none of that changes the integrity of the student athlete.

Fake classes /academic fraud in the eyes of the NCAA should be the worst possible offense a program can do (because criminal includes the legal enforcement aspect of it). The reasoning is simple - because you have undermined the integrity of your the institutions primary objective - higher learning.

So I'm not going to lose sleep over UL keeping the national title. But if anyone should be punished severely - so much so that it should be worse than any punishment ever handed down by the NCAA, it should be UNC, and the punishment should be so severe there is no comparison on any previous punishments.

Now we all agree this won't happen because there is a financial aspect to all of this that cannot be ignored. The NCAA is not in the business of financially crippling its member institutions.

Anyone think the NCAA doesn't have bite anymore because they know that in the course of a month the power conferences can replace them?

For example a few ADs at places like Bama, OSU, Texas and some others could feasibly replace the NCAA if they ever were pissed off enough

Louisville and UNC have less leverage but from a political perspective it would be smart for the NCAA not to damage their own brand and their two largest media markets for basketball.

Ned Stark would strip the titles. NCAA isn't so honorable

They made Thomas More take down their banner because Sidney Moss lived with an Assistant Coach while rehabbing an injury. I know Thomas More is NCAA DIII, but the NCAA has taken down a banner.

He literally guaranteed it. It was the biggest miss in his many misses and proved he had no information on anybody or anything. He loves to brag about being so smart and shows his stupidity daily for all to hear.

I remember Matt with his with his insider Democrat knowledge, Informing us that the Presidential race would come down to Hillary vs. Rubio, with Hillary winning. [laughing] I certainly hope he is right about this, but I wouldn't bet on it.

They hired hookers for underage recruits and players. Gave them cash to pay the hookers with. This happened over a long period of time and even after McGee left.
If they don't take away a title for this they never will. I don't care what anyone says, this is worse than anything UK has done or even UNC for that matter.

If this had happened at a high school with players of the same age, someone would be going to jail.

There is a good reason to believe the banner will come down. In their response to the NOA, UL admitted that numerous players on that roster received impermissible benefits. By definition, they are therefore ineligible players and the wins should be vacated.

I don't believe for a moment the NCAA will take the banner - but they're going to have to get creative to avoid it. Easy way to avoid it is to just conveniently find the impermissible benefits started right after the title (like Syracuse), or that it ended right before. Here we have parties from 2010-14. So, it's a challenge. But I'm sure they're up to it.

Jones simply says what should happen - he'd be right, I think, at 90%+ schools, the coach would've been fired. Louisville is a rare exception, where a coach can survive not one but two sordid and embarrassing scandals. Same thing here, you look at the evidence and it's fair to conclude the hammer will fall. Fair, but naive.....

With everything going on with the NCAA in the courts, they can't afford to go easy on UNC. The enforcement staff does not levy the penalties, the COI does. The COI has already put UNC on notice with the third NOA that they have some teeth and that they, not the enforcement staff has the last word. If the COI takes down banners at UNC before they hear the case against UL, then precident has been set.

You seem sensitive, like someone just disrespected your gf/bf, all I've read from people in here is that they are wise to Matt's tactics. Nothing wrong with what they are saying.

yes, it's kind of amazing how different the NCAA is now vs say in the 1970s or 1980s. They were really feared back then. For various reasons, they have been defanged. Reminds me of a bad movie with a scary kid who's revealed to be a bully - used to be feared, then suddenly sad and kind of pathetic.

I don't believe the Tard banner comes down but, it certainly is a Catch-22 for the NCAA. If they do force UL to vacate, they do so in unknown territory. It's never happened in Div. I basketball. I could easily see Jurich and that insane bunch of bucketheads suing the NCAA over it.
If the NCAA doesn't take the banner, they might as well close up their enforcement dept. They will have effectively neutered themselves.
