Exactly. Didn't have eye popping stats but played " winning basketball " .Poised , took what was there and was efficient
I agree. I have been critical of Briscoe, but the way he played today is exactly what I wanted to see. A limited number of shots, a good turnover/assist ratio, grabbing the defensive rebound and getting the ball up the floor quickly to Monk and Fox.Perfect game from him on the offensive end. High efficiency, didn't force anything, made heady plays when needed.... he played his heart out on Jackson too but the size differential made it impossible for him to do too much.
No. Jackson manhandled him. If he had taken as many shots as Monk, he would've scored 47. He scored 34 very efficiently, in 17 field goal attempts.Played an excellent game. Without Briscoe Jackson probably goes for 47 as well with Monk.
Don't have to watch again, watch any time Willis and Gabriel were on him compared to Briscoe. Jackson is a hell of a player and played a great game. With the height difference, Briscoe did all he could on Jackson.No. Jackson manhandled him. If he had taken as many shots as Monk, he would've scored 47. You can celebrate what he did offensively, but this is not a game where you want to praise his defense. Watch it again if you must.

Briscoe never stopped him. Too short.Played an excellent game. Without Briscoe Jackson probably goes for 47 as well with Monk.
That's the problem at the SF spot. We need one.Don't have to watch again, watch any time Willis and Gabriel were on him compared to Briscoe. Jackson is a hell of a player and played a great game. With the height difference, Briscoe did all he could on Jackson.
Well, if this is our best strategy going forward against elite SF's, which we will face in March, then it's going to be very difficult to cut down the nets. Because Jackson just took what the D gave him. He wasn't in superman mode like Monk. And every other elite forward will do exactly what was done to Briscoe today.Don't have to watch again, watch any time Willis and Gabriel were on him compared to Briscoe. Yea but we don't have one so that's an irrelevant point. That's the problem at the SF spot. We need one.
He will either stay four years or leave early and not be drafted. Not really a market for 6"3 shooting guards who can't shoot. Ideally, he sticks with us and plays the next couple years just as he played today - to his strengths.I love briscoe, that being said I see him back next yr along with weynen. Briscoe is exciting to watch and has improved greatly but I don't think he's ready for the NBA yet especially if they have him going as the last pick in the draft. I would welcome him back next yr with arms wide open along with weynen as we will have a very young team again next year
I think his closeouts, regardless of who he is guarding, have been awful all year. If you go back through and watch every game, you'll find that other teams have been raining threes over Briscoe all year.Briscoe played well on offense but got taken to the woodshed on defense. It wasn't just height, it was height plus being skilled and being able to shoot. Briscoe won't have that issue too many times this year, probably won't have that issue with anyone else the rest of the year actually

The other thing that bothered me today was that he took risks overplaying the perimeter pass and it led to a score each time.
And it seems like they're coached not to help and leave the jump shooter. So what gives? Do they just not trust the guys down low?Yeah his close outs have been bad. But Fox has had that issue as well as on the pick and pop. The issue they both have is the suck down to help instead of staying with the guy they are guarding

LOVED the way he played today .
I think he lost millions as soon as the season started and it was clear that his jumpshot was still broken.I love Briscoe but he lost millions tonight. Jackson killed him. He could not guard him at all. It shocked me. That said I have no idea who could guard him though.
We can hope for next year. Maybe a trade could happen.Yea but we don't have one so that's an irrelevant point.
That's my only issue... We can't have his man getting 30+pts. I agree that he played his role well, but he is a defensive liability when guarding taller players who can score over him. If it weren't for Monk's amazing production, we lose that game because of Jackson's production.Perfect game from him on the offensive end. High efficiency, didn't force anything, made heady plays when needed.... he played his heart out on Jackson too but the size differential made it impossible for him to do too much.

Hey man , congrats on the Syracuse win ! I was pulling hard for your guys !Stated in another thread but I agree--except last 2 minutes when he lost himself. In last two minutes of game, he:
1. Drove strong--good play and then instead of trying to make a shot, he tried to draw a foul and threw up some garbage.
2. Loses Jackson completely and again-Jackson is a great scorer, who Briscoe gave up a lot in height but made hit shots for most of game--then late he loses him completely and gives up dagger 3 (can't happen) only to be followed by his worst decision of night....
3. Gets beat on back cut and then compounds it with an awful foul for the and 1 attempt (which luckily was missed--but also could've killed them as they offensive rebound off the miss).
Progress was the other 38 minutes of the game for him and overall offensive game. He needs to defer to better players as that will open things up for him and he did a wonderful job of that overall. Loved the play he drove and kicked and his 3pt attempt/hit was a great shot/good rhythm. When he goes "bully ball" in a crowd with this year's team he's in trouble--needs to drop more passes off and make sure he's got clear lane to drive/finish.
Defensively, think he's elite, and just credit Jackson but didn't care for how he played last 2 minutes and was seemingly frustrated and not focused. 2's can't end game for you, but 3pt shots and plays are daggers and luckily for him it ended up with 5 pts for UNC and not more.
